Laptop is being weird.
 

I don't turn off my laptop that often, I usually just close it and when I want to use it again I just open it up. Lately, whenever I just open it up it stays as a black screen. The blue power button stays blue, but the screen is completely blank and I do not see the cursor. So I just have to hold down the off button and restarted it that way.

Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

What type of laptop you got?

Shut it down properly. When you don't it goes into sleep/standby mode and has to restart/reboot and come out of hibernation. If it's shut off improperly it will run scandisk and the startup will be delayed.
Start-Turn Off Computer-Shut down.
How hard is that?

It's a toshiba.

I don't want to shut it down all the time, if I'm going back and forth from doing stuff to computer stuff I don't want to start and restart all the time.

Change the power options so it doesn't go to slee pwhen you close the lid?
