Holy shit.

Dark One 03-31-2010 12:41 AM

...What. Well, that's surprising. I kind of expected/hoped they'd just have him play the heel that pops in and out with the case while threatening to cash it in.

This? This is surprising.

Innovator 03-31-2010 12:42 AM

ahahahahahaha

Droford 03-31-2010 12:42 AM

Maybe thats why Jericho was the way he was on NXT

HeartBreakMan2k 03-31-2010 12:43 AM

I somewhat expected him to beat Jericho since Y2J retained... although I didn't expect it to be this soon...

dronepool 03-31-2010 12:44 AM

Holy shit.

The Franchise 03-31-2010 12:44 AM

Wow.

wehavebensavedy2j 03-31-2010 12:44 AM

Where do they go with him now? whats his feud?

Droford 03-31-2010 12:44 AM

Edge. He just ripped off Edge!

I have a feeling this is going to be a Sheamus-like push.

Dark One 03-31-2010 12:48 AM

Well, at least Smackdown has its World Champion Champion Champion now.

Evil Vito 03-31-2010 12:48 AM

Holy fucking shit.

Let's hope Jericho didn't violate the Wellness Policy! :shifty:

redoneja 03-31-2010 12:48 AM

Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation!

Supreme Olajuwon 03-31-2010 12:49 AM

that's the stupidest thing I ever heard

legendkillerRKO 03-31-2010 12:50 AM

dont hate...Smackdown! got Swagger! lol!

Supreme Olajuwon 03-31-2010 12:52 AM

nah jk I care for Swagger

Mr. Pierre 03-31-2010 12:52 AM

I'm a Swagger mark and I usually don't complain, but wtf...

Is the booking team that lazy that they can't build a guy over a period of time and when he proves that he is over enough and talented enough, to THEN give him the Championship? I'm just not a fan of, "We need a star...", and then immediately putting the World Title on the guy..

We'll see how this plays out I guess.

Fox 03-31-2010 12:52 AM

This should be Christian cashing in on Jericho, perfectly setting up an Edge vs. Christian vs. Jericho feud for the next couple of months.

Swagger? I like the guy, but he's not ready. This is going to be Sheamus V2.

Evil Vito 03-31-2010 12:53 AM

Maybe I'm in the minority, but if they were going to have him cash-in this early I would've just had him beat Jericho at WM after the Spear through the table.

I think this early cash-in might be WWE's way of justifying having another one (or possibly two) at a MITB PPV in July.

Yeah. It was even set up perfectly. He should have just capitalized on the Spear off the table.

I was stunned they didn't do this. I was waiting and waiting for it, especially after they had him talk up cashing it in on the same night on that week's Raw.

Evil Vito 03-31-2010 12:56 AM

In fact, I would wager that maybe Swagger WAS meant to cash-in at Mania but they decided to punish him for taking half an hour to unhook the briefcase or something stupid like that.

Supreme Olajuwon 03-31-2010 12:56 AM

Maybe he pulled a Papa Shango and missed his cue.

What Would Kevin Do? 03-31-2010 12:57 AM

I thought Xero was just fucking around... It's actually true. What the fuck?

lol

Executioner 03-31-2010 01:00 AM

:wtf: This is just some fucking shenanigans. :nono:

Jordan 03-31-2010 01:01 AM

Whoa, holy shit. I can't believe it.

Evil Vito 03-31-2010 01:02 AM

Imagine if Jericho was injured by the Spear or something? After the entire storyline being that he doesn't get injured? :o

Just trying to think of reasons why this happened so fast.

Kapoutman 03-31-2010 01:05 AM

YES.

I fucking love Swagger. Of course he's still not over like a main-eventer, but I love the way he's always obnoxious and overbearing. Unlike other rookies, he seems to know his way around the ring, his moves look crisp and effective, and he has the background that would make it believeable for him to be able to hang out with main-eventers immediately. They just need to make him look like he isn't a fluke. A personality like that can generate heat if you give it time.

Evil Vito 03-31-2010 01:06 AM

Actually nah, Jericho was in a dark match last night so that's not it, unless he got injured in that match.

Damn. Shocking.

Xero 03-31-2010 01:08 AM

Gonna keep this as a separate thread from the rest of SD, but here's how it went down. It opened the show.

From PWInsider:

Smackdown starts with Chris Jericho coming down to the ring....mixed reaction when he cuts a great promo about keeping the World Title at WrestleMania 26.

Jericho is awesome on the microphone, getting great heat from the crowd.

Edge comes out to a huge pop. Edge says that he thinks he should get a rematch right now. Jericho is not taking the bait.

Edge starts beating up Jericho and ripping off his clothes to reveal taped ribs. Edge then spears Jericho. Jack Swagger then comes out to cash in MITB. Swagger hit Edge with the briefcase. The bell rings and Swagger WINS THE BELT with a power bomb. He walks out of the ring with the world title. The crowd is stunned.

Commercial time and Jericho is being helped from the ring. He's in shock. He starts throwing a tantrum up the ramp. The crowd is buzzing.

What Would Kevin Do? 03-31-2010 01:08 AM

I love Swagger, but why this after essentially burying him? I mean, even with Punk, Punk was built up pretty good.

Haha, this is what I am thinking too. Would have been fucking sweet if Swagger had gone 2-0 defeating ten guys, two former World Champions at his first WrestleMania, and become World Heavyweight Champion.

I love Swagger. I am not going to complain. I think he's a great talent, and I look forward to seeing what he can do with the World Heavyweight Championship. This will probably turn into Jack Swagger vs. The Undertaker with Edge and Chris Jericho continuing their feud elsewhere; or a multi-man program featuring those sort of guys.

Another thing to consider: The draft. It's very possible that Chris Jericho will be moving to RAW or something, and they feel the need to get the World Heavyweight Title off him. Granted, there is another PPV before the draft, but yeah -- I'm sure there is a reason Swagger is your new World Heavyweight Champion.

What Would Kevin Do? 03-31-2010 01:09 AM

You know, with a draft coming up, I wonder if this is just a quick way to get the belt off of Jericho, so they can move him to Raw, while still preserving the Jericho/Edge feud for down the line.

Xero 03-31-2010 01:09 AM

I'm almost thinking, from those spoilers and it opening the show, that they may have Edge actually take it off him at the end of SD.

legendkillerRKO 03-31-2010 01:10 AM

swagger has been there about a year and half...he definately deserves a run with the title more than sheamus...

Mr. Nerfect 03-31-2010 01:11 AM

I hope Swagger gets a fairly strong reign with the belt. If they do Edge challenging Swagger, I hope Jericho takes them both out with a steel chair, or something. Triple Threat at Extreme Rules.

I think that would definitely bury the guy for good. Less than 24 hours reigns are never good.

Kane did that in 1998 and was never taken seriously as a threat for a couple of years, at least until he unmasked.
