Looking back at Fake Razor and Fake Diesel...
Without dissecting the whole storyline with them being JR's "revenge" to Vince and the WWE for treating him like shit, it's easy to say they were never meant to be anything more than gimmick characters that were intended to fade away quickly.
I get the feeling though at some point there was a plan to push the both of them to the level that Hall and Nash were at and continue the gimmicks without the original guys. As much as it would have bombed horribly and never worked, something tells me that was the plan at one point. Fake Diesel made it pretty deep in the '97 Rumble. And they had some tag matches against Owen and The Bulldog and Furnas and Lafon where they were obviously made to look pretty strong as opposed to just throw-away gimmicks. Again, it would have never worked but I think that's what they were going for and it would have been bizarre if it had worked and they had gotten over with the gimmicks. Your thoughts.... |
I would have hated it back then, but now looking back, i think it would have been pretty awesome.

Doug Furnas and Phillip Lafon. Loved those cats.
On topic: How was the razor and diesel thing written out? Like how did they get taken out? |
The reason they brought out a Fake Diesel and a Fake Razor was meant as a shot to Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, plain and simple...whether WWE admits it or not...
Scott and Kevin weren't exactly tearing it up at WWE before they left, mind you...Razor had lost the IC title in January and at his last PPV lost to Vader, and Diesel lost to HBK on his last PPV. |

"Diesel" went on to bigger and better things...
...Kane. ...Fake Razor, well...he just...went on. |
I cant believe they actually made it length wise to the 97 rumble....I thought their run didnt make it past the fall.
|
how did they drop the JR mad at WWE storyline...like how did the end of that come to be ?

And yeah, Hall and Nash were both buried before leaving... because they were leaving. I'm not really sure the relevance of that in relation to WWE possibly trying to build up the gimmick with other guys. Regardless of how they went out, they were big names, hence the stir caused by them jumping ship. |

It'd be interesting to have "Legacy" characters in wrestling. Just like in comic books, when one hero would die/retire often a younger person stepped into the costume.
Cena would be Hulk Hogan II Batista would be Ultimate Warrior II Ted DiBiase would be Ted DiBiase II :shifty: |
Isn't that a common thing for masked wrestlers in Mexico?
|
There was some TV show or movie where they got a new actor for the lead and explained it by saying the character got surgery. They should have done that.

Kinda saying "Go to WCW, you're not worth a damn as individuals anyway. It was my genius characters that were popular and I'll prove this by continuing the characters with new guys". Obviously nobody bought it. |
