What Would Kevin Do? 04-14-2004 07:37 PM

How far would you travel?

I'm curious, how far would you guys travel for a concert? I'm not talking about some random concert, but someone you really want so see. What if it was the last chance you had to see them, would that make you willing to travel farther??? How much farther?

I'm asking because I'm thinking about driving 3 to 4 hours to a concert ( not counting traffic, and that's one way), and I'm curious to see if I'm crazy or not.

Scarface 04-14-2004 07:58 PM

3 or 4 hours isnt too crazy. I think I'd go pretty far if it was my favorite bands last gig that I was able to see, but I'm not sure if I'd come back the same night. That much travelling would suck. Make a weekend of it or something.

The Destroyer 04-14-2004 07:59 PM

Not very. I wouldn't go outside Scotland, put it that way.

FearedSanctity 04-14-2004 07:59 PM

Well, like you said, it depends on the band(s) you're going to see. I would be willing to travel just about any distance to see my favorite band. Especially if it was their last show.

But hey, no worries for me. The amphitheater is only about a 10 minute drive.

Jonster 04-14-2004 08:31 PM

I've travelled for about 3 or 4 hours to get to a concert before. Mainly took that long cause we got lost in Manchester.
It was Tenacious D's only gig in England at that time, and I am, and my friends are, big fans :D

Mike the Metal Ed 04-14-2004 08:33 PM

I would fly to Australia to see AC/DC, funds permitting.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-14-2004 08:52 PM

Hell, I'd fly to Australia to see AC/DC.

DaveWadding 04-14-2004 09:08 PM

I've driven 250 miles each way before...

Cactus Sid 04-14-2004 09:09 PM

If I could drive, I would probably go to big gigs if it was like one of the only dates in the UK or something.

I'm going up to the Manchester/Birmingham area (not sure which yet) predominantly just to see The Pixies, so thats what, 250 miles from where I live.

Silent 04-14-2004 09:20 PM

The only band I would have gone anywhere outside of my local area to see would have been Nirvana..who I saw in San Francisco in 93.

MoRcHeEbA 04-14-2004 09:49 PM

I've been known to drive 8 hours each way to see boxcar racer. and I flew to chicago from winnipeg to see a concert. :o

El Capitano Gatisto 04-14-2004 10:02 PM

I'd consider going to England.

Joeleosis 04-15-2004 05:29 AM

I'm thinking about driving to LA to see CoB, then seeing them again in SF. I will do that for NIN for sure.

Triple A 04-15-2004 06:20 AM

As long as the drive is under an hour, i.e. in New Jersey or some shit.

The Ravishing One 04-15-2004 07:53 AM

I would travel pretty far, taking into consideration that it is their last performance

asphyXy 04-15-2004 08:16 AM

I went to Asbury Park to see Children of Bodom without a car. That's pretty far from Essex County.

samichna 04-15-2004 09:25 AM

I don't have a car, so normally I'd just go as far as the transit around here could get me. That's usually not a problem, cause there are tons of venues near me.

If it was like the ULTIMATE concert though, with like 13254 bands that I love or something, I'd be willing to hop on a bus to go out of town, and maybe crash at a motel or something, if I had the cash

JJ Moore 04-15-2004 02:29 PM

422.6 Miles there and back, leeds festival, 2003 (GnR), 2004 (Metallica + wanted to go there again)

Actually, if you put it like that, then I've made a 500 mile round trip to Reading

Shaggy 04-15-2004 08:12 PM

I have no clue. Probably as long as it was in Texas I would go to it. For me to go any place further they would need some serious big things going on there.

Blue Demon 04-15-2004 11:03 PM

I'd go anywhere to see a band I really liked, especially if it was my last chance to see them. And, working for an Airline, it's a possibility.

FakeLaser 04-15-2004 11:17 PM

Most bands play in Jersey or NYC so I'm usually good.

Mic Blaze 04-15-2004 11:18 PM

Id go as far as not exiting the continetal U.S. So Id go pretty much anywhere in 48 states.

Danny Electric 04-15-2004 11:26 PM

Longest I've gone is either from Birmingham to Leeds for the festival or Oxford to Brighton via London for Funeral For A Friend and Cooper Temple Clause.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-17-2004 04:31 AM

Bloodhound Gang doesn't play in Jersey... IN fact, that's the only place the don't go.... Yeah.

Rob 04-17-2004 07:46 AM

Everyone comes to London so probably the other side of the city.

JJ Moore 04-18-2004 06:29 PM
