Best kayfabe injuries in wrestling

Gotta go with busted ribs with the tape. Nothing more classic than that.

Oh, and of course anything that gets them into a wheelchair. Instant heat.

My personal favorite, though, is Pillmanizing.

So what are some of your favorite kayfabe injuries? Whether in general or specific angles.

i always loved when shamrock had blood in his mouth from internal injuries.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 02:34 PM

And I was like all..."DAMN"

Xero 04-02-2010 02:35 PM

Steiner was all "HUH!?"

Cuse8 04-02-2010 02:37 PM

I dont think this fits the catigory but I was fond of how Flair always somehow started bleeding while getting fired up doing interviews

Schlomey 04-02-2010 02:39 PM

Speaking of Flair......Wheelchair bound wrestlers. It always ends the same. they get wheeled into a wall or get flipped. Still works whatever the formula.

kareru 04-02-2010 02:41 PM

of course you have the seldom used but still great 'halo, he'll never walk again injury' angle

ECW Pitbulls made a career out of that thing

Jakob Synn 04-02-2010 02:43 PM

The having on the cast is always great because 99 percent of the time the wrestler uses the cast as a weapon.

Ol Dirty Dastard 04-02-2010 02:44 PM

Yeah, taped ribs is badass points. Everything else is sort of gay. Though the arm cast is key.

What Would Kevin Do? 04-02-2010 02:47 PM

Undertaker's "being dead."

I saw this thread and the first thing that came to mind was Bob Orton, Jr.

Owen Hart
Matt Hardy

Wolfpack423 04-02-2010 02:55 PM

How about Sandman being blinded with his cigarette? I am not a huge fan of ECW but they had some good kayfabe stuff there.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 02:58 PM

Owen Hart = Best cast of my generation

Totally! I agree. When I think of that injury I think of him winning the slammy and carrying it around with the cast.

Schlomey 04-02-2010 03:02 PM

he milked that cast for what felt like ...2-3 years?

Anybody Thrilla 04-02-2010 03:12 PM

D'Lo Brown's pec injury that made him wear that deadly chest protector was pretty sweet.

TechSmartLiving 04-02-2010 03:13 PM

Seriously?! No one has mentioned "The Narcissist" Lex Luger's Titanium Plate that was lodged inside his forearm and used it during matches as a finisher and was legal because it was part of his body?

Now that is COOL!

Schlomey 04-02-2010 03:13 PM

Kane's burnt face was kayfabe. Another good one.

Gerard 04-02-2010 03:29 PM

Any injury where it requires the wrestler to wear bandages OVER his fucking wrestling gear. Im pretty sure goldust at one point had bandages over his boot...

I thought about that but it wasn't really an injury but a part of his gimmick when first came into the WWF.

AngryMidjit 04-02-2010 03:42 PM

jack victory's 2 year long "broken leg"

who is jack victory you say? who the hell cares, he never amounted to anything

St. Jimmy 04-02-2010 03:43 PM

Jordan 04-02-2010 03:57 PM

When Owen Hart "knocked out" Shawn Michaels on Raw, that was awesome.

Lock Jaw 04-02-2010 03:59 PM

Remember when Ken Shamrock would always be "bleeding internally" in every match he had?

Or last time when Randy Orton was a face he got a concussion in every match. The only redeeming qualities he had at the time was being able to sell being brain-addled really well.

thedamndest 04-02-2010 04:12 PM

Shamrock's insides must have been jelly by the end of his WWE tenure.

The Show Off 04-02-2010 04:16 PM

May favorite was Pillman's shoulder injury when he went into War Games.

thedamndest 04-02-2010 04:17 PM

Looking back it's ridiculous how much I bought DDP's taped ribs. I didn't even know what it meant to have taped ribs, but when I saw him come out with the tape on I was instantly like, "OH SHIT! SHOULD HE EVEN BE THERE?" Total mark.

Then again, I also kept hoping I would see the Undertaker out in public when they aired those vignettes of regular people seeing him while they were doing their errands after he lost to Yokozuna at the 1994 Royal Rumble.

KIRA 04-02-2010 04:26 PM

Taker getting his faced"crushed" and having to wear that Phantom of the Operaesqe mask.

Anyone wearing a face guard cause it looks so funny
