Another laptop question

can an external dvd burner act as a cd player or dvd player on a laptop/netbook?

Thank you. I'm going to Mexico in a few weeks and my netbook doesn't have a CD drive, so now I have to find the proper cable to make this happen.

Juan 04-05-2010 05:17 AM

I'm sure I have it around here somewhere

El Fangel 04-05-2010 06:06 AM

El Fangel 04-05-2010 06:07 AM

I know I have one, I just need to look for it

El Fangel 04-05-2010 06:16 AM

How much did it cost you, I want a netbook and am wondering how much an external burner would cost.

It's a VERY old external dvd burner. I bought it when I was a junior in high school, but i stopped using it when I upgraded my pc back then. It's just been in my closet ever since.

You will have to hunt down drivers for it once you hook it up. They shouldn't be that hard to find.

External slim dvd burners cost around 50-60 usd.

You can even buy a short USB cable for a buck or two.

I'm assuming you don't need a very long one.

Of course, finding the shit you got's better.

Only if it's a combo drive a combo drive is a all in one drive which can play copy read write content on a cd or dvd or even blue ray ... all you need is just some extra cash to have one and you should be all set to go. Try Tiger direct they have some great deals.
