Best Wrestling Moment by Era

Going by these eras, what would you say is the biggest and best moment? Whether it be a match, promo or angle. Any promotion, post videos if you can.

The Golden Era - Pre-1984:
The Hulkamania Era - 1984-1993:
The New Generation - 1994-July 1996:
The Attitude Era - August 1996-2001:
The Ruthless Aggression Era - 2002-2004:
The Next Generation - 2005-2007:
The PG Era - 2008-Present:

Just to note, the end of the New Generation and beginning of the Attitude Era is the nWo forming. That's why I specified the months.

HBPunk 04-05-2010 01:47 PM

The Golden Era: WCCW changing wrestling with characters, valets, vignettes. Evolving wrestling into sports entertainment
The Hulkamania Era: Wrestlemania 3/Hulk Slamming Andre
The New Generation: Hulk Hogan turning heel & joining the nWo
The Attitude Era: The Explosion of Stone Cold Steve Austin/Austin vs. McMahon feud
The Ruthless Aggression Era: The Rock vs. Hogan at Wrestlemania X-8
The Next Generation: The Explosion of the characters of Batista, John Cena, and most of all, Randy Orton
The PG Era: Bret Hart returns to the WWE/ HBK vs. Taker @ Mania 25

XIII 04-05-2010 04:47 PM

the attitude era was by far the best.... the hulkamania era (aka kayfabe era)was what made wrestling what it is today... and the pg era is whats killing wwe right now.... the crowds don't even care no more, remember how into it the crowd was for the rock and austin, the crowd went nuts over wrestling...the titles dont mean shit no more, and the death of ecw and wcw ruined it a little bit... we need a new era and some new stars.

wwe has some big stars right now,(orton, cena, batista, triple h, taker, edge, dibiase, rhodes swagger, mcintyre, its the storylines and the lack of attention the midcard and lower titles are getting also...

not sure what you are even trying to say about the moonlanding.

Xero 04-05-2010 06:41 PM

By that logic, you'd have to be a wrestler back then to be able to comment on it.

The Franchise 04-05-2010 06:47 PM

I want to see a wrestling match on the moon now.

Only if i was an astronaut ;)

But no what i mean is, we can watch all the clips in the world but we didnt live through it so we dont know what it was really like. If you watch highlights of a Soccer game, NFL game, NBA game etc. you cant give a full report on what went down as opposed to watching the game in its entirety. That good enough?

Also who's the moron listing fucking Japanese shit, he's so cool cos he doesn't watch what everyone else does, i wanna be this guy so much. As if fujijuju vs shanoki cocki was better than Stone Cold, Rock, NWO. . . Fuck off

Xero 04-05-2010 07:41 PM

You worded it wrong then. What you said wasn't "You'd have to be watching it live back then" but "you have to be on the moon".

Maybe the guy who listed all Japanese stuff lives in Japan, have you thought about that?

And you don't need to have lived through it to know when something is a big deal. I don't need to have been alive for the moon landing to know it was a pretty big thing.

39508 posts? 20 seconds between posts, meaning 3 maximum per minute -->
you have spent 9 days and 3 hours of your LIFE posting here.

To sum up, you are correct

If you're gonna go the puroresu route then how do you leave off AJPW? Especially matchups like Tenryu v Tsuruta from 4-1989 or Misawa v Kawada from 6-1994.

So unless you're AT SmackDown! live, you can't comment on it?

Trying to get what you're saying.

If I HAD to guess, you're saying you needed to be around for that era, not just the match/event.

Heyyyyyyyyyy you got it!! Although i made this clear initially, its good that you caught on so fast. Although you said 'if i HAD to guess..' which implies you were aware all along and you backed up my previous point that you are a typical nit picking computer nerd.

I didn't follow All Japan as much as New Japan. I nearly forgot about the Misawa/Kawada matches.

Two completely different styles. As vastly different as the NWA and WWF in the 80's.

Exactly. New Japan represented the Strong Style, while All Japan represented the Kings Road Style.

Whatever era where USA chants started... The guy who started that chant should be in the hall of fame. Same goes for the first idiot to throw shit in the ring when Hulk broke his heart and joined those boys from up north. Nothing like going or seeing a WCW show and having to duck sodas, popcorns, and batteries from level 3.

That is the stupidest fucking thing I have ever heard. By that logic only twenty people on this planet are allowed to talk about World War I. I suppose scientists aren't allowed to talk about the Ice Age either because they weren't alive to experience it. Go get your 21st chromosome fixed.
