How Do You Solve A Problem Like Anderson Silva?
Prior to and throughout UFC 112, Joe Rogan repeatedly stated a win for Anderson Silva would set up a showdown with George St. Pierre. Should Silva be rewarded for his display with a contest that fans have talked about for years? Can they trust Silva not to start acting up again during a fight? Do people even want to see this fight happen now?
Silva has fought at light heavyweight, but stated in the past that he doesn’t want to face friend Lyoto Machida, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. However, should Mauricio Rua take the belt in May, then this may be a fight that could reignite some fire in Silva, and one thing is for certain: Silva certainly wouldn’t be able to taunt Brock Lesnar in the way he did Demian Maia. The fight between Silva and Vitor Belfort was originally scheduled for last night and is the best fight at middleweight right now. The fights that should be made are the ones that will do the most business, since first and foremost UFC is a business. People will pay more money to see Silva fight Belfort, who’s looked nothing short of devastating, than they will to see Silva fight anyone else at 185. If Silva got his shot by dismantling Chris Leben, Belfort definitely deserves a shot for taking out Rich Franklin. |
You're not going to get him against Brock. The athletic commission wouldn't let it happen anyway. I say you put him against either Vitor or GSP, someone he doesn't have the option to do that shit with.
|
As much as I hate the guy, I think Chael Sonnen would give Silva fits.
GSP would ragdoll him, and his stand up wouldn't cause Anderson to do the gay shit. And, as outclassed standing as Maia, at least he wanted to fight. This fight just proves the need for Yellow Cards. |

Vitor would press the fight with Anderson. It's gonna take Anderson getting tagged during a fight to wake him up
|
What about Anderson vs. Wanderlei? He might not be the most technical striker at all... but he'd bring the fight.
|
The solutions easy, make him fight machida because he said he never would. Man up or get the fuck out.
Personally, I had no issues with how silva fought. Anderson vs Wanderlei? lol... That would be worse than what just happened. It would take a full 16 or more months for him to be able to fight lesnar, you cant just plop 30-40 pounds on and be a heavy weight, his walking around weight is 192 from what they were saying. |
Yeah when he'd been cutting. He's generally supposed to be about 210-220.

Silva/Machida would be a good punishment, that the fans would want to see. I say put him in a handicap match!
Or make him run a murder's row of opponents on a breakneck schedule. |
GSP would end up being the last of the four man gauntlet. I would pit him against Wanderlei first, then Belfort, THEN machida, finally GSP...only if he won all the fights.
|
machida has to take that fight in order for it to happen

The only people i see mauling anderson are the three gorillas of the apocalypse in the heavyweight division. (cain, shane, lesnar) But even if he does lose to them, what does that take away from him? He is supposed to lose to them by the logic that they made weight divisions to make competition fair. However if he beats any of those guys, he will look like the most invincible man in the world. Its really a win-win for him no matter what he does.

The Corporate Gauntlet
Chuck GSP OMG THAT DANA WHITE'S MUSIC! |
And dont get too caught up in saying GSP would take him down easily, because ALL of GSP's takedowns come from his opponents being off balance in the sense he cuts under them when they come after him. Thats basically what anderson does with striking.
Basically, we would see two guys looking at each other waiting for the other to engage. However, once GSP heard the boos, he would engage and would then get hurt. |
AS vs. Machida would fucking suck, as both barely engage.
I love Wanderlei, but I don't think he could take AS. AS is just way too crisp. The only chance Wanderlei would have would be if he was able to catch him and stun him for a second... Wanderlei is like a shark, if he smells blood, he'll go nuts... I think getting the needed shot in though would be a big problem. Lesnar would crush AS, not standing up, but in the take downs. Lesnar is so fucking fast for his size that I don't think As could avoid the takedowns. |

I see Belfort trying to rush in early once or twice with a barrage. If that doesn't work, I see Silva picking him apart. The key for Belfort if he wants to win this thing will be to draw Silva in where Belfort can mount an attack. |
The best way to discipline silva is to not televise his next fight

I don't know what happened but I though Anderson Silva was the most super badass fighter ever or something

Honestly. GSP is good at welterweight, but he'd be a small middleweight. Anderson would push him around on size advantage alone. Anderson's striking would be too much for him if GSP presents enough of a threat and he'd just outpoint him if he didn't present a threat. On the ground, Anderson would be too heavy and strong for GSP to absolutely dominate. We'd probably end up with an epic ground war that ends with GSP tapping.

It's been reported by MMA Magazine that Belfort has requested the fight once again and will face Silva sometime between August and October.
|
That'll be a good ass fight
|
only if vitor wins lol
