Orton and the Female Demographic
 

We all know that Randy Orton has gone from cowardly heel to a bad-ass anti-hero in the past couple of months.

Because the WWE is trying to target more women, is this an underhanded marketing tactic? If you take a television drama such as House or Law and Order SVU, the main male character is an attractive yet damaged and unstable craftsman dedicated to nothing but perfecting their craft and getting what they want at any cost. Randy Orton seems unapologetic about everything he does and I am willing to bet that the women watching will turn on Cena if Randy is built up correctly in the next couple of months.

With the WWE trying to cater to women (and let's face it, the Diva's division is a joke to both sexes) will Randy become the Dr. Gregory House or Eliot Stabler of professional wrestling?

Sorry. But yeah, I get what you're saying, but women have always had their favourite stars. If they do seemingly market Orton towards women, the male fans will turn on him. The course they are going with Orton as a bad-ass will help him appeal to both demographics.

Why is it underhanded? If women will watch anything with a hot guy, is it any worse than the established niche of marketing shit to guys with hto chicks?

It's not underhanded so much as it is a counter attempt at the "good guy" John Cena image they are throwing out there at the moment.

Soon the WWE will have a hot guy squad with the nice guy (John Cena), the outcast (Randy Orton), the guy with the rock star attitude (John Morrison), the tough guy (The Undertaker) and the cute one (Justin Gabriel). Mark my words.
