Concept Idea: WWE Draft PPV

Just an idea I thought I'd bounce off you lovely people. The WWE Draft show is like number 3 on my list of favorite nights in the WWE calender year. With so much anticipation I wonder if turning it into a PPV concept could work.

Have 6/7 high profile matches. Perhaps the losers of the match have to switch brands.

1. Do you think this concept is lame?

2. How would you make it work?"

3. Who do you prefer? Zeeboe or HBPunk.

DISCUSS.

1. It could be interesting if done right.

2. Not sure how I'd pull it off. I'm gonna give it some thought and get back to ya.

3. Punk comes off as knowing better, but saying the things he does anyway. Zeeboe doesn't seem to know enough about what he's talking about to realize why he comes off as having a skewed opinion. We should totally have a "loser leaves TPDub" poll on the matter.

Not a bad idea. Lately it's seemed that only big names get moved on the televised portion of the draft...so having matches in which only the participants might move makes sense.

I'd book it to be that the winner of each match gets to make a choice - either he jumps shows, or he can force the loser to switch to his show. Leaves the door open for plenty of possibilities.

I have to give credit to Loopydate for that idea. In his EWR game in the wrestling sim topic, that's how he ran the draft. The draft was carried out over a whole week on Raw and SmackDown, with each match guaranteeing somebody would be switching shows. It would be cool to see.

Yeah, like I'd honor that. Anyhow, yeah, anyone who doesn't agree with you is a moron who doesn't know what he's talking about. Got it. Thanks.

I'd think you would, given your self ban request thread.

That was different.

You made a thread to ban yourself??? How did this not happen??? I would so support it!:y::y:

tjmidnight420 04-19-2010 01:10 AM

Alright bro, here's what I came up with. Someone posted in the draft format thread that it should be done like Cyber Sunday. I would do it somewhat like this:

Take Cena for instance. WWE Champion. Let the fans vote on who he faces, but it has to be someone from SD!. Don't limit it to just 3 choices, it's open to any SD! main eventer, with the exception of Swagger. Whoever gets the highest votes faces Cena for the belt and the right to defend it on Raw.

Do the same for Swagger and the WHC.

The next poll on the ballot would be different: IC and US Champions, Stay or switch. The fans would vote to keep them where they are, or swap their brands. Then have them battle it out, loser loses their belt, but are automatically put into a small tournament later on the card for the vacated title. The tournament would be brand specific. This would make things interesting, as well as give alot of the lower card guys exposure on the PPV.

Throw on a few matches using the formula they've been using for trades, and I think it could be a pretty decent PPV.

I like Zeeboe & HBPunk for the record. Both have their place.

Fat Aaron 04-19-2010 02:50 AM

This could be a good idea, but having the loser go to a specific brand would make that brand look less important, which is something I'm assuming WWE doesn't want to do. Having the fans vote would be cool, but it would be difficult for the writers and bookers to deal with unplanned fallout. I like this idea though, but I honestly can't think of a good way to do it yet...

As far as HBPunk and Zeeboe, gotta vote for HBPunk cuz he's an HBK mark, and Zeeboe's avatar fucking creeps me out.

tjmidnight420 04-19-2010 04:08 AM

Eh, I was thinking at the time that whoever wins the WWE championship gets to be on Raw. Whoever wins the WHC gets to be on Smackdown. It evens out, cause it's moving a loser in both matches, unless said champion wins, then nobody moves. As far as the voting, it'd be like Cyber Sunday: everything that matters will be rigged.

Zeeboe came off as a hard headed ass in our previous encounter, but that's the only time I've talked to him so I can't really judge.

I actually like HBPunk, oddly enough. He just needs to tone it down just a bit. The sex jokes are getting a lil bit old. I mean, sure, they have their place here, but in every thread he posts in? It's always that or insulting those that don't agree with him.

Zeeboe 04-19-2010 07:39 AM

Well, I'm not here to impress anyone, so in the end, your vote is just another ego-builder for Zeeboe.

It's more the internet as a whole then this place. No offense.

Rammsteinmad 04-19-2010 11:57 AM

The draft means nothing to me anymore seeing as how right now the rosters are all over the place (and have been for the last year or two). It's only when the draft happens that the rosters are frozen, but only for a month or two coz then it all kicks off again.

Two add my 2 cents to the sub-conversation of this thread, I have no problem with Zeeboe, but I think HBPunk is an ass.

1. not lame, but pretty much unmanageable. It sounds good on paper, but I have trouble imagining it selling to the public. The big problem with doing it on a PPV is that they're supposed to be payoff for the drama. I mean, not to begrudge the sports elements, but there's a reason we don't particularly laud technical greatness as fans. Well, outside of the smarks.

2. I wouldn't. But if I had to work an idea involving both the draft and the PPV, I'd make a PPV where the wins impacted the draft, televised the following night. WWE already did this with matches on the last draft Raw, where the winner got a draft for their team.

3. Zeeboe's just being dishonest, Punk's a tard. Hard to say who I like more; I'm not sure I'd try and save either one if they were in danger.

Zeeboe 04-19-2010 08:35 PM

Like either one of us needs anyone's endorsement.

You both thrive on attention, so you're effectively splitting hairs here.

1- Your concept sucks.
2- Your concept sucks, ergo, there is no way it would work.
3- HBKool96.

You just had to ask that third question, huh? Guess you wanted your thread to get over. I've actually been ignoring quite a lot of BS recently. May be time to do that again.

DLVH84 04-20-2010 02:53 PM

I like the idea of having the Draft as a PPV, mainly because you don't have to deal with stupid commericials. And the possibility of more matches.
