Who's retirement (match) at this point would you care/not care about?

After HBK officially retired from the ring, it got me thinking that most of the stars that i grew up with since watching wrestling are actually human beings and must retire lol. I know it sounds gay, but guys like HHH, Undertaker, Jericho :( , Edge, and even Batista will be "it" of the infamous Attitude Era.

With that being said, who's retirement will NOT be looking forward to the most and who's will you be wishing they did it sooner? For me:

Chris Jericho: Man, when/if he has a WrestleMania retirement match, i hope its not one of those JBL-type of departures. This guy has been the most consistent guy in my book. Always good matches, put people over, got shat on by people and still did his thing, and had one of the most MEMORABLE matches in WrestleMania history (XIX). By the way, that was a very underrated PPV, IMO. I think HHH/Booker T put a blotch on it because i definitely wanted Booker to win.

Undertaker: The man has done it all and more. I think this one will be the hardest to watch. The guy has SOOOOO much respect from the wrestling community, in and out of the ring. The guy was there in the WWE through 3 or 4 "generations" ala Attitude Era, Sports Entertainment Era, New Generation (Bret, Yoko, etc). That will definitely be a juggernaut leaving the business, like an Austin, Flair, Rock, Hogan type. To me, he is right up there with those men. I just hope that they don't do a halloween-type of send off for him. Have him come out in his street clothes as Mark Calloway and do his thing.

HHH: To be honest, i did not like the guy for a LONG time. I enjoyed him as Hunter Hearst Helmsley, HHH in DX, and as the Cerebral Assasin during the attitude era. But when he came back in '02 (which i had no problem with and was one of the people prepped for his return), he hogged the spotlight very hard and i still have a beef with him not letting Booker T have the win at WM XIX. So basically from 02-07, i really wasnt feeling him. But i guess when you get older, you step back and think that though he married the boss's daughter, the guy was a workhorse in the ring, on the mic, and did let my boy Jeff Hardy get a title win. His send off will probably be the biggest, since he's HHH but i don't think alot of the "boys in the back" will really appreciate it, more like "go through the motions".

Edge: Probably the one guy i will say, besides HHH (who i look more positive towards Edge about it), who will do WHATEVER it takes to reach the top. The guy is one of the best heels since HHH to grace the mic. The only thing i wont miss is the Lita/Matt Hardy thing. I mean, i could see if it was like Batista/Melina/JoMo thing where they aren't boys and traveling together but they WERE. But don't want to bring up the past, so continuing, Edge definitely is HOF material. Ladder matches, E&C...speaking of which, one of the most ENTERTAINING tag teams of all time. I still say those two could've had their own movie. But he still has a good amount left in him if he can stay healthy.

People who i really wouldn't miss:

Batista: I mean, he is awesome as a heel right now. If he would've been like this before, probably would've been closer to his character. But he just seems to be that guy who was under HHH's wing and based on his look and who his friends were, he was pushed to the top.

How about you guys?

Mick Foley, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan

:y:Chris Jericho: My absolute favorite of all time... well maybe. Much like when he went on hiatus, wrestling just wont be the same without the 'man of 1004 holds'.

:|Undertaker: Mixed bag on this one. I'm sure it'll have a profound impact on WWE, but me not so much. Don't get me wrong I like the fact that he's stepped up his game in the last few years... but he's not really one of my favorites.

:y:HHH: He might step out of the ring, but Trips is like Vince at this point. The man is gonna die in front of a WWE camera.

:y:Edge: See Chris Jericho, only to a slightly lesser extent.

:y:Christian: Same as Edge. I'm holding out hope he makes it to that level before it's over for him.

:y:Kurt Angle: The man is killing himself for professional wrestling. Bat shit crazy? Check. Dedication? Check.

:n:Flair: The man's been wrestling since before I was born, but after the last ten years, he's killed his own legacy.

Kurt Angle.

I personally hope the Undertaker's retirement is within the realm of his gimmick and now as Mark Colloway. The thing about Taker is the gimmick has sustained for almost 20 year, and it's a whacky gimmick sometimes but people respect it and want to believe it. I hope he walks off into the darkness with the music and the smoke and the lighting...

I actually can't wait for that moment. I love The Undertaker, and I want him to have another two years of good matches on big PPV's. But let him take it easy during this time, lets get him to 20 - 0 at WM, beat John Cena for the 20th victory, and then walk off into the darkness never to be seen again, and never to be beaten.

This gimmick is almost bigger than WWE, it's become part of Wrestlemania, one of the best parts. This shouldn't turn into a streak debate, but The Undertaker should retire after he defeats his 20th Wrestlemania opponent at Wrestlemania 29, and let Wrestlemania 30 be a new era for Wrestlemania by stepping away from the Undertaker gimmick. Although if Taker can make it three more years, 21-0 would be really sweet too.

I agree. Make it streak for title, Taker wins, then he (kayfabe) takes the spinner belt back to hell with him.

He will be 20-0 at WM 28

I was thinking, what if Taker is in his match that he should win to become 20-0 and SUDDENLY he has an injury in the middle of the match. Not that I want that to happen, it would be mad sad for him, but will WWE be forced to end the streak?
I mean like a serious injury where he cant finish the match.

NeanderCarl 04-18-2010 05:45 PM

Taker has gone into PPV matches with broken bones, 2nd degree burns, serious nagging injuries... nothing short of being paralyzed can stop the man from sucking it up and finishing the match.

KayfabeMan 04-18-2010 06:04 PM

Undertaker :y:

Hogan (a REAL retirement / final match) :y:

Sting :y:

Mick Foley (again, a REAL final match) :y:

Edge I wouldn't really care about.

Took the words out of my mouth... Except the Flair/HBK match was really well done... And it wasn't ALL HBK... Just most of it...

... Then Flair went to TNA. If he'd stayed out of the ring, and just got a check for being an authority or whatever, I'd still respect him. He had a good send off, and He shit on it. HBK even had custom watches made to commemorate it... :(

Lol two of those guys have had more retirements than all of the WWE HoF'ers combined and its too early for edge (unless another injury strikes :$)

Undertaker: he has done it all in the business, tonz of respect from fans and other wrestlers. I don't think his streak will be broken because that will kill his legacy!

Edge: My favourite, he has a lot of charisma, one of the best heels in the business, as long if he doesn't injure his neck a lot, his career will be sorted!

HHH: This man will never have a retirement match, he would drop dead in the ring! he has much respect to the business he will never retire or step away ala The Rock and Austin

Sting: Another one who has done it all (except for being in WWE), he should have a Ric Flair style send-off

hbpunk you are an idiot
