"The game is pretty straight forward. Old school Super Mario Bros but with one gigantic twist. You can choose to not play as Mario, but rather as Link from Zelda, Simon from Castlevania, Bill from Contra, Mega Man, and Samus from Metroid. The characters play exactly as their NES counter parts did (for example, Link has a boomerang that can stun and his sword fires forward when you have a flower in game; while Samus can lay bombs, etc), and integrate extremely well into the title."

Seems like a ridiculously poor gimmick.

Doesn't feel like a gimmick. Feels like it's all native.
