Swiss Ultimate 04-29-2010 12:43 PM

So you have a time machine...

and for some reason can only go back in time to various wrestling shows of the past (something about the elasticity of time), which show do you go to and why? Apparently, after watching the show you'll be zapped back to the present and the time machine will be broken.

I'm going with ECW's Born to be Wired as my #1 choice. A close runner-up being the last Wrestlemania.

Jordan 04-29-2010 12:57 PM

Damn, good question.... Hmmm...

Well... Wrestlemania 10 defiantly comes to mind, I would have loved to been front row center for that show.

Jordan 04-29-2010 12:59 PM

Let me explain... WM X had most of my favorite wrestler of all time, Bret, Owen, Razor, HBK... Macho....

However, my favorite Wrestlemania is 17... that would have been amazing to be front row at.

June 11, 2007. Just enough time to warn Mr. McMahon about his limo AND Benoit.

It's a win-win!

I don't think they'll let you past the security.

KayfabeMan 04-29-2010 01:42 PM

I would probably go back to the Gorgeous George days, just to see what a real crowd looked like.

DLVH84 04-29-2010 02:48 PM

The very first Tokyo Dome Show New Japan Pro Wrestling has ever done.

So now not only is he a troll, he's a troll that's making an ass out of himself for the IWC. Is this happening to anyone else?

Swiss Ultimate 04-29-2010 02:55 PM

Have you watched that show DL?

BigCrippyZ 04-29-2010 02:58 PM

I'm gonna have to go with Wrestlemania 17. The greatest overall card of all time IMO. Angle vs Benoit, Hardyz vs E&C vs Dudleys TLC Tag titles match, great brawl between Taker vs HHH, great IC title match between Jericho and William Regal, crazy Hardcore title match Big Show vs Kane vs Raven, and the No DQ World title match between Rock and Austin. AMAZING

Swiss Ultimate 04-29-2010 03:09 PM

Not a bad choice at all. I just wish there was more HBK.

Agreed, if at least HBK and Bret had been involved in any matches on the Mania 17 card I think almost anyone would actually call it the greatest card EVER. Could you imagine Angle vs Benoit vs HBK vs Bret? (Sigh) If only... Still my fave though. :)

tjmidnight420 04-29-2010 03:43 PM

I can agree about X7. Maybe not the very best but definitely top 3.

St. Jimmy 04-29-2010 03:51 PM

Kill hogan. Just saying.

Yes, I have. It showcased a tournament for the vacant IWGP Heavyweight Championship. And it showcased the debut of Jushin Liger (Keiichi Yamada's first match under the gimmick, as I followed NJPW since 1988).

The McMahon part was scripted though haha
so if you want back in time or not,
wouldn't make a difference.

I saw this in a Twilight Zone episode once...it didnt work

EdgeHeadSince08 04-29-2010 04:01 PM

i couldnt do it because It'd be upsetting to see where wrestling has gone too...

Jeritron 04-29-2010 04:17 PM

Are you going to put some kind of cap on this? I would probably list 50 events because why the fuck not?

Only one. The time machine breaks after you return home.

This.

Xero 04-29-2010 04:23 PM

Is it a DeLorean?

I wouldn't want to go unless the time machine was a DeLorean.

see post #5 for the answer

Xero 04-29-2010 04:25 PM

Okay, just making sure.

Nicky Fives 04-29-2010 04:25 PM

Wrestlemania 10 followed closely by Wrestlemania 2000

Jeritron 04-29-2010 04:28 PM

Can we travel through space as well? If it only travels through time I would still have to make normal travel arrangments.
I don't want to travel to 2001, only to be faced with the hassle of making travel plans to Houston for Wrestlemania 17.
Also, I would have to go through the trouble of finding currency printed prior to 2001 to avoid leaving any clues behind.

I'd also be worried about the space time contium. What if I bumped into the wrong guy and he dropped his nachos, setting off a chain of events that led to the universe collapsing?
What are the potential ramifications of taking a seat on the plane that was supposed to go to someone else?
What if GayForOrton123's mother sat next to me, and fell in love with me instead of meeting his father, and he was never born, thus never registering here?

Xero 04-29-2010 04:30 PM

I pick my first house show so I can punch myself in the face for being a Sid fan.

It actually transports you directly into the building with tickets in hand, like on Quantum Leap. You'll be inside someone else's body watching a wrestling show while the person you inhabit is curled up in the fetal position in some dark dank metallic chamber slowly filling with water.

Houston for X7 would be worth the risk, although just the thought of travel in Houston gives me a headache...

Swiss Ultimate 04-29-2010 04:32 PM

Also, apparently Quantum Leap was wrong, you cannot change time. Paradoxes are impossible.

Jeritron 04-29-2010 04:33 PM

I'm sure someone would go back to Montreal in 1997 and warn Bret about what is about to happen

Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out to be a work?

KayfabeMan 04-29-2010 05:20 PM

Instead of warning him about Montreal, maybe they could warn him about the kick to the head from Goldberg. Then he'd still be able to have an actual match with McMahon.

VSG 04-29-2010 06:07 PM

Honestly, what would the IWC be without Montreal, '97?

I would probably go to the day they were booking Evolution's birth and ask them to make a Heel Cena instead of whathisname. I still think heel cena is worth the risk!

I'd have to go back to WM19 just to see The Rock's for what I thought was his last great match.

Brian Bee 04-29-2010 08:37 PM

I would go to that ECW show in Florida 1994 when Public Enemy invited the fans in the ring and caused it to collapse.

And great choice DeathtotheSwiss, I was lucky enough to be at that show when I was younger and it was fantastic! :y:
