Are there any big wrestlers who never turned?

Ric Flair was always the "dirtiest player in the game" even as a face but, that doesn't count.

Was there anyone who was either always a heel or always a face?

(Sting until TNA)

Jordan 04-30-2010 08:42 PM

Steamboat

Next Big Thing 04-30-2010 08:42 PM

In ring Warrior was a face. Business Warrior... definitely a heel. Rey Mysterio

Jordan 04-30-2010 08:43 PM

I may be wrong but I don't remember Dusty Rhodes going heel... and I am just guessing but how about Tully Blanchard?

Ultimate Warrior was always a baby face....

Gillberg

Jordan 04-30-2010 08:45 PM

Magnum TA was a big deal and I don't think he was ever heel.

Jordan 04-30-2010 08:46 PM

I don't think Ted Diabiase ever played babyface

He was a face in WCW after he left the NWO. Also, before the WWF days.

#1-norm-fan 04-30-2010 08:53 PM

I think we had a topic like this years ago and could only come up with Ricky Steamoat as the only real long-term wrestler who was never a heel.

I don't know that either Verne or Greg Gagne were ever heels.

Can't remember exactly the situation, but I think it was after everybody quit watching...

From Wikipedia:
In the early spring of 1999 Sting made a return on Nitro and then, at Spring Stampede, fought against Hogan, Flair and DDP for the World Heavyweight Championship, with Randy Savage being the Special Guest Referee with Page winning the belt with a bit of help from Savage. On Nitro on the 12th of April, Sting pinned Ric Flair in one on one match. Then on Nitro on April 26, Sting defeated Page to win the World Heavyweight Championship, only to lose the title back to Page a little over an hour and a half later in the main event in a four-way match with a returning Kevin Nash and Goldberg when Page pinned Nash, allowing him to win the title without beating Sting. This unsuccessful title defense ended the shortest title reign in WCW history. Sting had a feud with Goldberg and they ended up having a match at Slamboree when they wrestled to a no-contest when both Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner both attacked Goldberg and Sting. It caused Rick Steiner and Sting to feud and wrestle to no-contest match at the Great American Bash when they both fought to the back and Sting got attacked by 3 dogs. The next night on Nitro, Sting saved Nash for being attacked by Sid Vicious and Savage. At the Bash At The Beach, Team Madness defeated Kevin Nash and Sting in a tag team match where Savage won the World Title. On the July 19 Nitro, Sting defeated Ric Flair to became the President of WCW.
Sting then teased a heel turn, as he was questioning Hogan's trustworthiness and credibility in the coming weeks to Fall Brawl. At the pay-per-view, Sting defeated Hogan for the World Title after accepting help from Luger and attacking Hogan with a baseball bat, thus turning heel. Sting's heel turn and subsequent attitude change did not go over well with fans.[4] They still cheered him despite the fact that he was supposed to be the bad guy. At Halloween Havoc Sting retained the title against Hogan after Hogan arrived to the ring in street clothes and merely laid down for a 3-count but promptly lost an unsanctioned match to Goldberg at end of the night. Sting attacked the referee Charles Robinson after the match. Sting was stripped of the title the next night on Nitro because of his attack on the referee. Sting was given the opportunity to regain the title in a 32-man title tournament. He reached the semi-finals after he defeated Brian Knobbs, Meng and Lex Luger but lost to Bret Hart at Mayhem when Luger came to the ring and hit Sting with the baseball bat. This turned Sting back into a face and began a feud between him and Luger. Sting defeated Luger at Starrcade by disqualification when Elizabeth hit Sting with a baseball bat in his jaw and Luger attacked with a steel chair and the bat and putting Sting out for the rest of the year.

Vastardikai 04-30-2010 09:27 PM

They tried to retcon EVERYTHING in that past 5 years as to him being behind, including the Fake Sting.

I was NEVER a Sting fan. However, I knew they were beating me over the head with horseshit, so I changed the channel.

Wiki says he was off TV before they got to cancel the angle, and didn't come back until the final Nitro...

kareru 04-30-2010 10:03 PM

jeff hardy, he was a tweener when he was in the new brood but has been face for years with no turning back

RVD was supposed to be a heel in the invasion, but everyone cheered him anyway, does that count?

Jordan 04-30-2010 10:59 PM

RVD was heel in ECW

erickman 04-30-2010 11:03 PM

Jordan 04-30-2010 11:04 PM

Maven wrestled both heel and face. And he isn't really a "major" name.

That is some pretty convoluted shit.

I like the part where Sting gets attacked by 3 dogs.

he must have become a heel after the old list was made, but mag ta he might not have had a chance to heel up.

I don't know if this counts but Dusty Rhodes actually started his career as a heel teaming with Dick Murdoch then turned face after a misunderstanding with Tag Team Partner Pak Song

Maven's heel turn came pretty late in his career, on Nov. 29th, 2004 to be exact. So he had about a 7-month run as a heel.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-02-2010 12:20 PM

Rick Rude I believe was always a heel.

I love Maven as much as the next guy, but he isn't even a "medium" name

Jakob Synn 05-02-2010 07:32 PM

I've never really appreciated wrestlers who haven't played both a face and heel at one point in their careers.

I think that's one of the main reasons I don't like Jeff Hardy. Yes I know, he was heel with the Brood back in the day, but I don't really count that.

Same goes for Rey Mysterio. He's always face and it annoys me, though I've never really liked him.

I don't think he ever was. I was watching a interview he did with a news station out of Pittsburgh, and he said that he wanted to be such a good role model that if he was in a restaurant and he was offered a drink if there was a kid also in the restaurant he would not accept it. He said he didn't want to set a bad example for the kids. Anyone that cares that much was always a face.

I don't mind it. I have a problem with multiple turns in the same year.
