Cody Rhodes was pretty impressive this week on SmackDown

Awesome match vs. Christian. He did some moves that I didn't think he had in him. Afterlife just came a little bit.

Schlomey 05-08-2010 10:15 AM

I agree dude. I am not a HUGE mark for him but I am already enjoying seeing him on Smackdown as it seems like a fresh start.

BillyBonez 05-08-2010 10:15 AM

I agree, I was like, "This is gonna suck yo" but then Cody started hitting moves I didnt know he had and actually gave us a good match. Too bad Cody has about as much charisma as a naked ass. Scratch that, a naked ass is funny, Cody is just boring.

Schlomey 05-08-2010 10:17 AM

I dunno Billy I have always enjoyed his old school charm.

tjmidnight420 05-08-2010 10:46 AM

I enjoyed the match, I just watched it actually (I missed SD! last night.)

The stupidity of this is staggering.

Billy get outa here

Inadequacy 05-08-2010 12:57 PM

The only time I didn't like Cody Rhodes was when he teamed with Hardcore Holly. But that was probably just a side effect of how much I hate hate Bob Holly.

Ever since he turned heel I've thought he was great.

jskinnyg 05-08-2010 01:04 PM

I watched that match a couple of days ago... It was pretty damn good... i guess in the shadow of all the press Dibiase has been getting, Rhodes has been off practicing and getting ready for his next singles run... i think he surprised a lot of people...

Lock Jaw 05-08-2010 01:29 PM

Yeah, his match was pretty sweet. Same as his match with John Morrison the week before.

Also, Striker calling him "The Uncommon Son of a Common Man" is pretty golden.

Now he just needs to get back on the mic and show some personality.

Inadequacy 05-08-2010 01:39 PM

I just watched match and there was one little thing I really enjoyed. When Cody throws Christian into the steps instead of doing an irish whip he just straight up shoves him. It was nice to see considering how unrealistc the irish whip is.

Also I thought "uncommmon son of a common man" was amazing.

ImpactPlayer365 05-08-2010 02:47 PM

Yeah Cody might become bigger than Ted ala miz and Morrison. I like Cody's demeanor...he's not bad in the mic...and with time he will get better. And in the ring he's good shit. Uncommon son of a common man...gotta like it

thedamndest 05-08-2010 04:46 PM

I like the stripe around his boots. It kind of takes away from his lack of pads. Great match.

Afterlife 05-08-2010 05:36 PM

I really do hate the knee pad situation.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-08-2010 05:37 PM

Loved his moonsault, very impressive.

Wishbone 05-08-2010 06:12 PM

kid's got talent no dout about it I just hope he gets a proper push to atleast upper mid-card

Purgatory 05-08-2010 06:51 PM

He's also got a TriForce symbol on his boots, which struck me as funny. Dunno why.

Anybody Thrilla 05-08-2010 07:05 PM

Yeah, wow, just watched this match about two seconds ago. Loved it. I liked Cody's kick off the steps on the outside.

XCaliber 05-08-2010 07:25 PM

Agreed but I though his debut match on SD was very good as well.

It shouldn't have, assuming you already knew he has a love for the Legend of Zelda games.

Damian Rey 05-09-2010 01:49 AM

Cody has always been good with his ring work. I just think being teamed with DiBiase as Orton's henchmen for so long has kind of made us forget what kind of talent he can be. I remember his match with Carlito for a MITB sopt a few years ago that was stellar. The crowd was piss dead, but it was a very good match.

Cody going to SD! has been great thus far. He's looked amazing in his two matches and I can only dream of what we have in store for us in the near future. I agree that once he gets going again on the mic, he's going to really put himself over.

Mr. Nerfect 05-09-2010 02:50 AM

I always knew Cody had it in him. It was RAW that was letting him down. The kid's a good worker, a good promo, has been built up to be fairly credible, and is only 24 years old. I think we'll see him go on to do great things. I like his kick off the ring steps that he does. I also like the way that he hasn't done too much that is heelish on the blue brand yet. He's pretty much a bad guy because he was part of Legacy. I like his sort of "I just do what I do" vibe right now.

He needs better theme music, though. And until they get him some, he should keep using "A New Day."

Favre4Ever 05-09-2010 04:18 AM

Does he had knee pads yet?

Let me know when he gets some.

.44 Magdalene 05-09-2010 04:23 AM

What's up with that, anyway? Is there some specific reason he doesn't wear kneepads? Why the fuck would you do that to yourself?

Afterlife 05-09-2010 04:53 AM

Oh, he absolutely needs new music. And SD oddly seems the place where guys generally have the better music. And a new LCD backdrop to go with it, seeing as how Legacy is over.

.44 Magdalene 05-09-2010 04:58 AM

Where we're going, we don't need Rhodes

Seriously. Ted still uses that backdrop too. What's the deal?

Afterlife 05-09-2010 08:40 AM

No idea. I mean, they had plenty time to get shit ready for them.

Mr. Nerfect 05-09-2010 08:48 AM

I wouldn't mind it if they technically kept Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes together as Legacy, but just as a club rather than any sort of active stable. Instead of putting together "The Fortunate Sons" for example, Ted can just lead the RAW chapter of Legacy, while Rhodes can be the SmackDown! leader.

Anybody Thrilla 05-09-2010 09:00 AM

I guess Ted and Cody never really 'broke up', but I think they both need to just put Legacy behind them in order to further themselves.

Mr. Nerfect 05-09-2010 09:39 AM

That's true. I personally wouldn't go with the extended Legacy thing, but I don't have a problem with them still being associated with it right now -- because as you said they never really broke up.

As for Cody and the lack of knee-pads: I always figured he did that as a bit of psychology. The knee is a hard part of the body, and without the padding there, Cody can use them to get some good shots in. To really emphasise that, though, Cody should use more than the occasional knee drop. He might be better served getting some knee-pads and then pulling them down during the match.

Triple Naitch 05-09-2010 09:46 AM

Cody should have the Legacy theme, while Ted goes back to his old "Priceless" theme.

Mr. Nerfect 05-09-2010 09:59 AM

I think they can do better than Priceless for Ted. Even if they give him a remixed version of his father's theme. Or something along those lines.

Yeah as long it was either the 3rd our 4th version that would have been fine by me.

The Show Off 05-09-2010 11:26 AM

I always thought that Cody Rhodes was the more talented between he and Ted DiBiase, at least in the ring.

Wolfpack423 05-09-2010 12:03 PM

Cody started showing he could have a good match mid-way through last year. Before that he was nothing special, but recently on Smackdown he has been having four-five star matches one with Christian and one with John Morrison. Both he and Ted are great in the ring, I think Cody edges out Dibiase on the mic skills. A completely irrelevant side not: I hope Joe Hennig debuts soon.

addy2hotty 05-09-2010 03:31 PM

Rhodes is the one that comes out backwards like Mr Ass used to?

Stop that Cody. Stop.

Xero 05-09-2010 03:38 PM

Jericho comes out backwards. Or used to.

Johnny Vegas 05-09-2010 04:06 PM
