Think Bret Leaves United States Champion?

I don't know why considering it's WWE, but I feel like this is going to be a good send off for Bret. What if he goes out and with some help makes Miz tap to the Sharpshooter and becomes the United States champ and retires with the belt.

I think retiring the U.S. championship makes the belt situation less of a clusterfuck and gives more meaning to the IC. I also feel like WWE may be restoring the tag division with the Hart Dynasty as unified champs and a main eventer like Jericho involved in the program. Plus we have the Colons reunited and a shit ton of second generation kids who apparently will be paired based on the fact that their daddies all knew each other.

No because of this:

– On June 12th, WWE will be holding a RAW brand house show at the Roanoke Civic Center in Roanoke, Virginia. The Civic Center has sent out the following card…

* Main Event for the WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Sheamus
* The Viper vs. the Rated R Superstar: Randy Orton vs. Edge
* United States Championship Match: Christian vs. Mark Henry
* Also Scheduled to Appear: Ted DiBiase Jr; John Morrison; R Truth; Evan Bourne, William Regal; Eve; Maryse; Gail Kim; Alicia Fox; the Bella Twins & Many More!

– The website for the Roanoke Civic Center has the following matches advertised, for the same show…

* Main Event for the WWE Championship: John Cena vs. The Big Show
* Viper vs. Celtic Warrior: Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
* United States Championship Match: Christian vs. The Miz
* Also Scheduled to Appear: Ted DiBiase Jr; Cody Rhodes; Kofi Kingston; Evan Bourne; Mark Henry; Chavo Guerrero; William Regal; Chris Masters; Eve; Maryse; Kelly Kelly; Alicia Fox; the Bella Twins & Many More!

Unless he wins it, it becomes vacated or he gets stripped of it later, and they do a tournament for it at OtL? Regardless of this, it means Kofi wins the IC Title tonight at the SD tapings.

Why would retiring Brett Hart be the equivalent of retiring the US title?

Let him leave as champ and take the belt with him. Leave him as the last champ in his honor.

I find it Ironic if they allow Bret to leave with a Belt. Isn't that the whole reason for Montreal in the first place? He didn't want him leavin with a Belt. I realize too different situations and two different belts but still kinda ironic to me.

Yes, that's very clear. But...why? Titles get vacated and put up for grabs our tounramented all the time.

Droford 05-11-2010 01:27 PM

Bret would be a Grand Slam Champ by way of the US title instead of the European Title

Next Big Thing 05-11-2010 01:28 PM

Titles have also been retired. All I'm saying is the tag titles are finally unified and seem to be getting exposure for the first time in years.

WWE has all these damn belts and some of them aren't even defended at major pay per views. Why not clear some room by retiring the U.S. belt, thus making the IC belt the feature mid card title on Smackdown and let the tag team belts be featured on Raw.

Letting Bret win the belt in Canada on his way out after he lost the belt in such a fucked up way on his way out the last time he was in WWE would be a nice send off and the cheap irony seems right up WWE's alley... these are the same people that had Cena go over with duct tape.

If they can let the cruiserweight belt die on Hornswoggle, I think they can let the U.S. belt rest with Bret.

How are they "finally" unified? They've been unified for quite some time.

And why do so many people sit on sticks over the titles? Each show has a #1 title. Each show has a #2 title. Each show has a ladies/nobody cares title. The tag division is universally battled. Why is this something to cry about?

Because showcasing ONLY the Women's Title on Raw and ONLY the Cruiserweight Title on Smackdown did wonders for both shows.:shifty:

And if the CW title was the equivalent of the IC or US titles, that comparison would be spot on.

Cards are subject to change and besides Christian isn't even on RAW anymore unless there's a trade made of some sort. Think Bret will give Miz the rub cuz knowing Bret he would pull a Lance Storm and have the belt changed to the Canadian Championship. That would more than likely make him come across as a heel though so even if he does by off chance win it will be vacated shortly thereafter.

Sovereigntywillpr 05-11-2010 03:39 PM

you mean the saskatoon(or was it Sascachuwan) International Heavyweight Championship.

Jordan 05-11-2010 03:41 PM

I don't think that this is going to happen, Bret's last match was at Wrestlemania, please don't change that.

Nicky Fives 05-11-2010 03:51 PM

I say he wins it via shenanigans, immediately forfeits it and sets up a tournament before saying his goodbyes to 'The WWE Universe'

Sovereigntywillpr 05-11-2010 03:52 PM

it wouldbe amazing if teddy was given' a chance, huge pop in toronto.

Man I wish they teamed up DH with (name edited out) before he hung himself.

south776 05-11-2010 04:15 PM

It seems as though they are gonna pull some kind of swerve where he hands his title shot to Christian because he is from there. It could be a big momentum swing for Christian if its done right and they start to showcase the title a little more.

The US title was probably the most meaningful title during the 2002-2005 time frame. They actually used it to build guys up to main event on SD and people cared about the title. Whether you like Cena or not (and I can do without him) the US Title helped him to get that needed exposure and build. He made it meaningful. Benoit was great with the title too.

Afterlife 05-11-2010 04:17 PM

What?

Tazz Dan 05-11-2010 04:29 PM

Yeah, I also don't see Bret doing the match. The whole Christian thing could be a posibilty I guess, but again highly doubtful. I'd rather see him feuding with Swagger myself. Either way, Raw next week in Canada should be pretty epic. :y:

Oh, and if Teddy did debut and win the belt, and I would mark out like a little bitch. But again, not going to happen.

glanville6 05-11-2010 08:49 PM

I agree with Christian feuding with Swagger- as long as the belt is still in Swagger's hands. And a Christian to RAW trade could have been done- if Vickie didn't resign on RAW and Edge wanted a piece of Christian on RAW. But Edge has his hands tied with Orton,so whatever.

Miz will get counted out and there will not be any physicality between Miz and the Hit Man. Imagine the heat he'll get for bailing on a match with Bret in Canada. Thats my prediction, anyway.

Remember all those times people were sure Cena was gonna lose based on house show cards?

Yeah....

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2010 01:12 AM

House show cards mean absolute shit. But, to be honest, I could see Bret Hart winning the US Title next week. It's not exactly the World Title, and there were apparent mumblings about putting that on Bret at WrestleMania. This obviously wouldn't be a return to the ring for Bret, but he'd win the title ala Vince McMahon winning the WWE Title, and then vacate it.

Sometimes you'll see angles mirrored on each brand. I'm trying to think of examples, but the most recent one (although not the most glaring) was the feuds for the World Titles at WrestleMania. It was only very small, but they both played up injuries to the face challengers, and had the "when you get in the ring with me, bad things happen" theme to them. With the IC Title being vacated, the idea of the US Title also being vacated to "restart" the mid-card divisions, is not entirely unlikely.

On the flipside, The Miz retaining the US Title against Bret Hart would be EPIC for him. I'll be honest and say that I could see this going either way.

The MAC 05-12-2010 07:24 AM

IF MIZ WINS WE RIOT..

seriously though, Bret is gonna win it. He has spoken to vince about it, he has creative control in his contract and most of all... Its Canada :shifty:

I was more puzzled at the fact that both of those cards had Christian on them more so than anything.

I don't think WWE is that stupid, no.

Maybe I'm giving them too much credit.

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2010 10:45 AM

I actually thought about the Bryan Danielson thing. It would work as a "passing the torch" kind of thing. Toronto is one of the smarkier cities out there, so they might buy into it. But I think people are more interested in Bret Hart than Danielson. Also, I don't know how they will put over Bryan Danielson as being part of "The Hart Family." Maybe Bret will reveal a distant blood relation, and trick Miz into changing the match?

I think it's more likely that some authority figure (Vickie Guerrero, Vince McMahon, etc.) will ban The Hart Dynasty from ringside, as a way of building drama for the match, but Bryan Danielson shows up (due to his past connection with The Miz), and helps Bret win the title. The following week it is vacated, and Bret puts over Danielson as "The Best in the World" or whatever, and we then get something to crown a new champion. A tournament would be lovely, but I could see them doing a Battle Royal.
