Wrestling & Wednesdays

Now that TNA moved back to Thursdays, the only wrestling free nights on TV are Wednesday and Saturdays. Sundays obviously are rotating PPV weeks so it is excluded.

Saturdays have seen Saturday Nights Main Event to varying degrees in ratings success.

Has Wednesdays always been wrestle-free? It sucks. I am bored and was thinking it was Thursday. So dejected when I remembered what day it actually was.

Is there a reason no wrestling ever seems to be on Wednesdays!?

Maybe becuase it's the middle of the work week and there's some sort of ratings or statistic proof that flagship type programming doesn't do well? Just taking a shot in the dark.

And I'm there with you my friend. There's a reason I go to school Wednesday nights.

Schlomey 05-12-2010 11:17 PM

WWE should move Superstars to Wednesdays! That way Superstars doesn't get bigger ratings than Impact! :D

Lavel 05-12-2010 11:18 PM

Wrestling Society X was on Wednesdays I think. Could be wrong.

Schlomey 05-12-2010 11:20 PM

yeah cuz that counts

Damian Rey 05-12-2010 11:24 PM

I like Superstars where it is but I don't have any problem moving it to Wednesdays. Then I wouldn't have to chose it over Impact and have no reason not to give TNA a watch. Well, other than it being shit that is.

Lavel 05-12-2010 11:25 PM

I enjoyed watching WSX why was it canceled. I have read many different reasons I don't know which one to believe.

Probably cause the shit booking, writing, and lack of true top teir talent failed to bring in ratings.

Schlomey 05-12-2010 11:28 PM

X-Pac = Ratings

Lavel 05-12-2010 11:29 PM

They was only on for like 8 or 9 weeks though they could of improved if giving the chance.

I'd assume its probably to give an extra day for editing and post-production for taped shows since they get taped on Tuesday nights like the former Thunder show (WCW, Thursdays) and Smackdown (WWF, Thurs/Fri).

Destor 05-13-2010 12:13 AM

thunder was on wensdays after sd! got hot.

Schlomey 05-13-2010 12:35 AM

I thought about Thunder and yeah but it quickly became the thursday thunder staple.

Destor 05-13-2010 12:48 AM

pretty sure once it moved to wensdays it stayed there.

Yep.

DarKCentaur 05-13-2010 01:23 AM

We get a show in NY called MSG Classics on Wednesdays, it's a bunch of old stuff from the late 80s-early 90s

Alright, normally I'd let something like this slide but I just can't. Are we all talking about the same WSX here? I know it's popular to make other promotions nowadays seem better than they actually are to "stick it" to the E machine, but WSX was absolutely fucking ridiculous in every way, shape, and form. I don't know if you could really even say that it was an actual wrestling show. I mean, it had a wrestling theme but everything about it was so far fetched and stretched, that after awhile it couldn't even be called wrestling anymore.

They had a match where they were "wrestling" over a tank filled with "Piranhas". Every episode was wacky, with some sort of wierd gimmick. The announcers were Don West imitating nutjobs, the entire roster was filled with guys that were either unknown or completely washed up, and anytime a slam happened they shook the camera a thousand times over for "effect." I don't know about you. I can't call that wrestling and look myself in the mirror in the morning. There's absolutely no way I could tell my friends and family that I'm a fan of professional wrestling and that WSX is professional wrestling. I'd sooner jump off of a bridge before I let my pride shatter in such a painful way.

So, in essence, fuck you. Fuck you and everything that you stand for if you think this. I'll let you try to live with what you've done today.

I agree entirely. I couldn't even make it through the first episode.

Seconded and btw anybody remember their CGI (and I use the term loosely) explosions made me ashamed I watched wrestling:nono:

owenbrown 05-13-2010 03:13 AM

I'd rather watch the "24 hour watching paint dry" channel than TNA

DAMN iNATOR 05-13-2010 03:42 AM

Can't think of any other reason there's no Wednesday wrestling shows other than, as has already been suggested, it's the middle of the week and there's probably not a whole lot of people who'd want to spend an hour or two during what could easily be the busiest part of their week, at least for some, watching a wrestling program.

Kane Knight 05-13-2010 04:55 AM

On top of the other ratings and viability talk, Wednesdays used to be one of the hottest nights for broadcast, so it could simply be nobody wants to go against that. not sure if it's still true because I've paid a lot less attention, but it at least used to hold true. Some of the other nights wrestling is already on are "as bad," so it might not be suicide, but it's still likely a factor. Especially when talking new programming.

NoRoolz 05-13-2010 06:11 AM

When? Huh? Whatday?

NoRoolz 05-13-2010 06:15 AM

Seriously, there's already too much wrestling to keep up with for me, and I only record TNA and RAW, aand I'm unemployed at the moment. No idea how anyone would be able to follow every show weekly as it is.

Schlomey 05-13-2010 09:45 AM

I would like FCW to get a Wednesday evening TV show on SiFi

I find having zero interest in half the crap makes it easy. Especially if you're taping each show. Raw in 45 minutes, TNA in 30.

More wrestling is, in theory, good for me, because it gives me more options. Though I will probably skip half of it anyway.

That's it for me. I watch it off the DVR, so Raw usually doesn't take much time, although I'll give them that I do watch more of it now. SD! I wind up watching most of, but it still doesn't take long when you don't have to sit through commercials. TNA is like what, 20 minutes of decent programming, 50 minutes of commercial, and 50 minutes of bullshit and recaps of bullshit that happened a minute ago? It takes like 10 minutes to watch on DVR.

Nark Order 05-13-2010 01:39 PM

Why did we stop talking about how utterly fucking ridiculous WSX was? I feel like that is like a 9 days conversation piece.

tjmidnight420 05-13-2010 01:41 PM

I agree, but I simply don't have 9 days worth of shit to say about them.
