Why must they keep doing this?

Why is it anytime someone loses a hair vs hair match the next night they always seem to show up trying to hide it?

We had Molly Holly a few years back wearing a wig.

We had Kurt Angle wearing a wig.

We had Vince running about with a hat welded to his head for months.

And now Punk with this retarded looking mask.

Talk about flogging a dead horse, is that just standard WWE procedure that if someone is shaved "bald" that they need to try and "hilariously" disguise it for months on end? Only person i can remember that didn't run about with a hat on was Nash with his buzzcut.

Juan 06-08-2010 05:57 AM

I dunno, but CM Punk in a mask is great

Shadrick 06-08-2010 05:59 AM

wouldn't it be hilarious, if by the time he took his mask off, he had long hair again? CM PUNK IS SMARTER THAN YOUUU

RiX1024 06-08-2010 06:15 AM

to add comic relief when the opponent takes the wig/hat/mask off.

Favre4Ever 06-08-2010 07:00 AM

I mean the hair vs. hair angle is pretty worn out in general, as long as that part exists the covering it part likely will as well.

YoungFlyFlashy 06-08-2010 09:13 AM

They do it to continue the suspense. Basically one last milk drop left to milk in the angle to make it go for another 2 months or so.

YoungFlyFlashy 06-08-2010 09:14 AM

Another thing people have to remember is that you may see it overdone because you've seen it, but their are new fans all the time that haven't seen it done or overdone. So it's new and fresh to them still. The wrestling fans from the 90's isn't the only fan watching wrestling lol.

Skippord 06-08-2010 09:17 AM

Maybe CM Punk is just really bad looking bald

The mask is the only way to keep Serena from making it TV-M

Fucking cop on man and use your brain will you. Most these threads are fucking simpleton's posting about stuff they dont understand. Take a second and THINK about it.Jesus Christ

Who let the forum retard out of its cage?

Nice answer though and i can totally see how a person in a real life situation would take to wearing a mask.

ImAnIdiot 06-08-2010 09:40 AM

Me and my wife were discussing it and think there is a small possibility the mask may also be a way have been a way of protecting the staples he received after OTL and they just keeping it now to cover that reason up.

Possibly, though i can see someone in WWE creative after the match have a light bulb pop over his head and think "this wig shit has been done to death". Then after several days and thousands of dollars of brainstorming they think the mask would make it totally diffferent. :y:

Fan 1: "The know it all": Usually this fan comes from the 90's, and they are always saying stuff like, "This again?", "Why are they trying to bring this back alive?", "What is this PG stuff?", & even a "Cena Sucks!". Yadda yadda like that. Basically this fan refuses to let go of their childhood and doesn't want to accept the new times.

:y:

Kane Knight 06-08-2010 10:01 AM

The mask adds a whole new level to CM Punk's character. It's like they completely reinvented him.

...Hey, it worked for Undertaker.

Pish, we've had a few hair vs hair matches in the last 10 years, its not something that gets used that often but when it does the outcome is always exactly the same. "Hilarity" ensues as the bald guy tries everything to cover his head in a "sport" that is all about physicality. The only different thing they done this time was make him wear a mask instead oaf a wig attached with a chin strap.

And how exactly are these the "new times" when this shit has been done to death? Oh wait sorry i forgot, wwe seems to think we have the memory duration of a goldfish on lsd.

Exactly, new times, did not say anything about new ideas. New times equals a brand new set of fans and people that may of never experienced some of things we may have. What GREAT IDEA can the WWE do that hasn't been done yet? I swear it's like once wrestling fans hit their 20's or so they appoint themselves armchair bookers. Give it up, watching anything for atleast 10 or so years, I am positive your bound to see the samething again. If anything, WWE bookers should be commended for not doing the "ol' wig" routine part of the gimmick, and reinvent the angle with a mask this time. They were given an angle, and came up with a brand new outcome for it, to further build the suspense. Give it a rest.

Also, in these last ten years, the WWE has introduced so many new ideas, so how about we stop picking apart a already used gimmick, when the newer ideas are outweighing the recycled ideas in the last 10 years.

Yeah new times rehashing old ideas. Clearly wwe have taken the hollywood approach to things. The same shit with different people playing the parts essentially.

And yeah they should be commended for replacing a wig with a mask, i just wonder how many months it took for them to make that radically sweeping change in the storyline.

Hollywood? Uhm try the whole world rotates on that. Same shit diffrent toilet.

So clearly from your stand point, you could careless how WWE makes changes and improvements to angles to where you wil just pick it apart and wonder about something that you truly will never know the answer to. Why does it matter how long it took? It was done at the right time.

How the fuck is changing a wig to a mask an improvement? It all comes down to the same thing, "wrestler b" who has had his hair cut is trying everthing he can not to let people see that its cut. Who actually cares? When it eventually gets taken off we get 10 seconds of the crowd jeering and thats it.

Just amuses me you're commending wwe for a tiny change to a comedy storyline. I suppose if next year a guy gets his hair cut and comes out the next night wearing a pancake on his head you'll be first to start a bandwagon commending wwe for this innovative change to a storyline?

CM Punk having to wear a mask now is also a twist of irony, due to the fact that he's been trying to get Rey unmasked for several months now.

I think the real question is WHY didn't Kevin Nash go all the way bald? (Besides starring in an upcoming Punisher film).

Jordan 06-08-2010 12:17 PM

The reason they do that is to piss you off.

Nash is about the only one that storyline wise didn't throw a bitch fit after the deed was done. Even though he did look like a skinny oversized Guile when it was done.

whiteyford 06-08-2010 01:02 PM

Mask vs. Mask match, if the feud with Mysterio carrys on maybe.

That's exactly what I was thinking. :y:

Jeritron 06-08-2010 02:20 PM

It's selling the gimmick. The entire point is to put over the fact that they're humiliated and uncomfortable with having their head shaved.
If they didn't care, then there would be no resistance behind the stipulation in the first place, and there would be no gimmick.

If they come out failing to sell the fact that they've been bamboozled, then there was no point in having a hair vs hair match in the first place.

Savio 06-08-2010 03:44 PM

I think Nash wanted his hair cut for that movie right?

Savio 06-08-2010 03:49 PM

Didn't jeff jarret lose a hair vs hair match?

KIRA 06-08-2010 04:04 PM

I dunno I had my head shaved once I remember wearing a mask/hoodie combo to hide my shame, never could make it into banks during that dark period though
curious...

CM Punks chest hair has me transfixed for some reason.

Yep jeff lost a hair vs hair resulting in the whole dont piss me off revamp and to my knowledge he didn't try to hide it.

thedamndest 06-08-2010 04:07 PM

I don't think anything happened after Jarrett had his head shaved. He was repackaged with a new look, but I don't remember anything else.

Wrestling fans are married?

And they talk to their wives about wrestling?

And their wives talk back?

HOLY SHIT!

Thought that might be it... But to me, the mask is brilliant anyway!

There aren't many Finnish posts on here.
