Good Emo Bands

I want to buy lots of music for some reason. Tell me some good bands

Cactus Sid 04-17-2004 02:18 PM

Try Coheed & Cambria

Either In Keeping Secret Of Silent Earth: 3 or Second Stage Turbine Blade, either's good

The Destroyer 04-17-2004 02:22 PM

Far, New End Original, Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas Is The Reason.

And get some Fugazi. Not exactly emo, but good.

Silent 04-17-2004 02:30 PM

Yes, Sunny Day Real Estate kicks the ass..

Coheed and Cambria is also great.

I also like Saves the Day

Loose Cannon 04-17-2004 02:51 PM

I like the Get Up Kids, Taking Back Sunday and Brand New.

I don't know if TBS and Brand New are true emo though

Elements 04-17-2004 04:01 PM

Isn't "Good Emo Band" a contradiction in terms?

The proper definition of it is "emotional hardcore", but the meaning's become massively distorted lately. So now it applies to any old band who are vaguelly punkish, melodic and sing about getting dumped or something...

Elements 04-18-2004 12:35 PM

Shit. I forgot. You're dicks

Well more or less.

They're always on tour with emo bands.

THEY'RE ALL THE SAME TO ME.

Kane Knight 04-18-2004 11:21 PM

What the Hell is Thrice, anyways?

Silent 04-19-2004 12:03 AM

Pop Punk?

asphyXy 04-19-2004 12:25 AM

The bands that are considered to be "emo" are the only bands that put emotion into their music. Depression and teenage love are the only real emotions.

Elements is stupid. He listens to metal. The only thing they do is scream about how much they hate the world.

Bad Company 04-19-2004 01:02 AM

My advice is to ditch the emo crap and get the real deal.
Download some No Use For a Name, Lagwagon, 10 Foot Pole, NOFX etc.

Prolly not gonna be my cup o tea then. About the only "punK" acts I listen to are the Ataris (Have So Long Astoria), Taking Back Sunday (They had a couple songs that caught my ear), and the Dropkick Murphys (Blackout:  )

Kane Knight 04-19-2004 01:06 AM

Oh yeah, and since "emo" is supposed to be "punk," Coheed and Cambria, since they're supposed to be "emo."

Though one thing I must confess, I've never once actually LISTENED to the lyrics of their album...I might very well hate them if I did.

Bad Company 04-19-2004 01:08 AM

Emo is not Punk. Emo Pop Cultured wannabe punk.
That is all.

Penner 04-19-2004 01:09 AM

me and tidus listened to all on black by alk3 for the first time in months

i forgot how much i loved that song

To be fair, 99% of what's being called "Punk" or "Punk Rock" isn't punk either.

Since Punk was coined for bands like the VU, and Punk Rock originated with bands like the Sex Pistols or Ramones...

Sorry, couldn't think of any.
