Can any moment live up to Hogan vs Rock

Do you think there will ever be a case where we can debate hogan VS rock as the best WM moment?

That match had the stars, the hype, and the delivery

I think only flairs retirement dwarfs this as best moment ever

Supreme Olajuwon 06-13-2010 02:49 AM

bro that isn't even Hogan's biggest WM moment

LewisTheTruest 06-13-2010 05:31 AM

As far as icon of the past vs icon of today, definitely not. Hogan is pro wrestling, Rock was at his peak in the Attitude era. Can't be topped.

Rollerskategirl 06-13-2010 05:39 AM

Hogans biggest WM moment was being in the ring with this man:

I agree.

And IMO the match really wasn't that great.

Nicky Fives 06-13-2010 08:48 AM

I never liked Rock/Hogan, so quite a few matches could top the hype....

Blue Demon 06-13-2010 09:40 AM

It was impressive for the crowd reaction alone...believe me, I was there....it was LOUD

Favre4Ever 06-13-2010 09:48 AM

Rock Hogan is up there, but I seem to remember the Austin/Rock matches having a really crazy sort of energy also.

James Steele 06-13-2010 09:58 AM

Rock/Hogan wasn't even the best moment at that WrestleMania. The two greatest performers of our generation collided in the main event of WrestleMania XVIII in Toronto,Ontario,Canada in the legendary SkyDome. The Undisputed Championship was on the line, and a classic was delivered by these two living legends.

Schlomey 06-13-2010 11:11 AM

rock vs hogan does give me a nice little tickle on my spine but I can think of tons of other matches I'd rather watch...including:

Jericho vs Michaels
Michaels vs Hart
Michaels vs Undertaker - rounds 1 and 2
Flair vs Michaels

ect.....

I'm not sure if you're serious but that match was decent/good at best. It was one of the worst built WrestleMania main events ever. The crowd was dead as this match was only 2 matches after Rock/Hogan. A lot of people in the stadium left after Rock/Hogan.

James Steele 06-13-2010 01:39 PM

Go worship a cow, you piece of shit.

Nark Order 06-13-2010 02:26 PM

JamesSteele, what? That WM main event is universally known as a huge flop and and underbuilt mess. It was completely predictable, the crowd was more or less dead, Jericho wasn't built to look like a legitimate threat toward Triple H, and it followed Hall/SCSA AND Rock/Hogan. The actual match itself was good but many of the aforementioned elements ruined it.

thedamndest 06-13-2010 02:33 PM

In terms of hype it probably is Hogan's biggest Mania just due to how much bigger the company was at the time than his earlier days. But everything being equal, it's a tough call between Wrestlemania V and Wrestlemania VI. V is the better match and has a better build, but VI has more prestige because both titles are on the line.

Favre4Ever 06-13-2010 02:42 PM

Despite WM 18 being booked to be Triple H's "glorious" moment, I think the Wrestlemania 2000 fatal four-way was a bigger deal just because of how much of the public eye was on the WWF at the time. The boom period was peaking and the WWF SNL episode hosted by the Rock had just aired. That match was the culmination of around six months of storylines and sort of broke Triple H through into being a star "outside" of the confines of the WWF.

The four way match itself might not have been spectacular but it had all the other necessary qualities, including hype and fan reaction.

Exactly. Hogan held HHH down.

Opinion. Opinion. Opinion.

A lot of people enjoyed the buildup.

I didn't want to hog all the greatness by myself. Also, I have blocked Backlash 2002 out of my memory forever.

:y: I was also there, to use the old cliche, the atmosphere was electric. The crowd audio on video doesn't do it justice at all. I will never forget it.

Also, yes, the Jericho-HHH match had people walking out of skydome, the crowd was essentially dead (compared to Hogan-Rock). We all came to see Hogan-Rock, that was the main event in our eyes.
