Unlikely chemistry (thrown together but worked well)

I was bored and was actually looking for "Mr. Hole in One" Barry Darsow vids and I came across this one where he teamed with John Nord. Basically it's The Bezerker and Demolition Smash under there real names just playing the mean bully ring vets. I always loved watching "Loudmouth" Barry Darsow on Worldwide and when you take the cheezy gimmicks away from Nord he isnt that bad in the ring. What are some other seemingly random pairings that ended up working really well together? I'm also gonna throw out there Owen and Yokozuna or Jeff Jerrett. I've read that Owen just had that kinda personality that he could work well in the ring with pretty much anyone.

I don't know if you just mean tag teams, but two guys as opponents that have good chemistry together is Rey Mysterio and JBL. Some of JBL's best matches were against Rey.

BillyBonez 06-14-2010 04:29 PM

I was surprised how good Booker T and Goldust turned out to be, I mean Booker T wasnt really a comedy man back then and Goldust was a jobber but together they was gold/

CSL beat me to it. New Age Outlaws are the definition of this. They were both past due for future endeavors, and they were totally thrown together as a last ditch effort and somehow they turned into the biggest tag team, and two of the biggest stars, from the biggest period of professional wrestling.

TGR 06-14-2010 04:44 PM

Rock 'n Sock comes to mind.

Headcheese, as mentioned earlier.

Kurt Angle and ...just about anyone Kurt's ever teamed up with?

Kane and RVD/Hurricane Helms both come to mind.

Vastardikai 06-14-2010 05:01 PM

Hollywood Blondes.

.44 Magdalene 06-14-2010 05:03 PM

Not a tagteam, but Super Crazy and Chris Masters worked some of the best matches of... err... Chris Masters' career.

Beth Phoenix Fan 06-14-2010 05:57 PM

booker t and rvd

Next Big Thing 06-14-2010 06:01 PM

Seeing Bradshaw paired with Faarooq the first time seemed odd... they turned out the best of all.

parkmania 06-14-2010 06:03 PM

Kane & X-Pac were fairly good for all of 2 weeks.

CSL 06-14-2010 06:08 PM

Bulldog and Luger in 1995.

CSL 06-14-2010 06:09 PM

thedamndest 06-14-2010 06:12 PM

Though they came out a few years BEFORE the Outlaws. I would consider them them the forerunner to Edge and Christian, much like I considered Barry Windham's run as "The Lone Wolf" the forerunner to Triple H's "Game" persona.

The story behind the Blondes is a good one. Windham, who was Brian Pillman's partner at the time, missed a flight or something, and they had Austin take his place. They ended up working well together and, since WCW didn't have much else to do with either guy (Pillman was floundering as a heel at this point, and I want to say that Austin just got off his long assed TV Title run.), so they stayed together. They inexplicably got over as heels.

so far I have enjoyed the work of Hawkins & Archer. Just 2 random guys not working put together but so far their tandem offensive maneuvers have proven effective and so far their matches have been enjoyable. Time will tell.

I don't know about 'inexplicably' since they were both dynamite. The only inexplicable part of their run was seperating them.

Jonathan KoЯn 06-14-2010 07:39 PM

harlem heat
miz and morrison
edge and christian

Are we just listing random tag teams now?

CSL 06-14-2010 07:41 PM

lol brothers Booker T and Stevie Ray in 'Having chemistry shocker!'. Ditto childhood best friends Edge and Christian.

Jonathan KoЯn 06-14-2010 07:42 PM

miz and morrison were thrown together for sure.
Edge was way better than Christian but the Brood thing didn't last and they were just thrown together.
Harlem Heat just sucked. They threw those two together

Supreme Olajuwon 06-14-2010 07:44 PM

Miz and Morrison is a pretty good one though.

CSL 06-14-2010 07:44 PM

Well you can't argue with top notch logic.

Jonathan KoЯn 06-14-2010 07:46 PM

edge and christian were a thrown together tag team in 1999. Didn't you watch?

Supreme Olajuwon 06-14-2010 07:47 PM

Razor Ramon and Diesel was a good one

Christian debuted in an angle against Edge.... Maybe you've heard of The Brood?

Jonathan KoЯn 06-14-2010 07:49 PM

Chris jericho and christian were thrown together as fuck. It was pretty sweet though

After the Brood. There was no more Brood but they kept tagging and had no gimmick or anything. Just thrown together

Xero 06-14-2010 07:51 PM

They were not "thrown together".

Jonathan KoЯn 06-14-2010 07:52 PM

Interesting. I'll have to think more about that

Supreme Olajuwon 06-14-2010 07:53 PM

Now we're splitting hairs. That means Kane and the Undertaker were thrown together too. So I nominate them.

blak23 06-14-2010 07:54 PM

im with xero on this one E&C had history before wwe now talkin thrown together london and kendrick were, also london and kidman

Jonathan KoЯn 06-14-2010 07:55 PM
