Halo 3 outsells 6 PS3 Exclusives combined (Who knew Halo sold well?)
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news...tters-Combined
According to Microsoft, Halo 3 alone has outsold six of Sony's biggest PS3 titles all put together. Just in case your week hadn't had enough pointless fanboy bickering thus far, here comes some perfect flame-bait material: Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft's Director of Product Management for the Xbox 360, recently Tweeted that according to NPD numbers, 2007's Halo 3 had been one hell of a success - which, to be fair, anyone with half a brain already knew. Not only had Halo 3 been a smash hit, it had been more of a smash hit than some of Sony's most highly-acclaimed games - all put together. Quoth Greenberg: "Just in from research team (NPD): Halo 3 has outsold Resistance 1 + 2, Uncharted 1+2, Killzone 2 and God of War III COMBINED....wow[.]" Now, nobody's trying to make a statement of quality here, though Greenberg probably hopes you'll make a mental correlation between the two - he's just talking about sales. And, for whatever reason, it seems that PS3 games never do quite reach the fiscal success of their Xbox 360 counterparts - go figure, right? Oh well. Hey Aaron, want to compare Halo 3's sales to those of the Wii's biggest titles next? Probably not. --- Keeping in mind it's A) microsoft's word, B) not MGS4 and C) probably right that they don't want to compared dick size to Wii's heavy hitters, mind. |
I mean if you have an xbox there is nothing else to buy on that system.
Besides all of those games suck with the exception of GOW3 which has been out for like 2 months.
What? Uncharted 2 is amazing.
Yeah, I kinda thought this thread would cause apologetics to come out of the woodwork. Would you like some validation?
I don't like Halo, but I did find it interesting. |
lol bless
ODST was better than Halo 3. There, I said it.

And the Toyota Camry has outsold everything ever made by Datsun
What don't they give it away free with the xbox anyway, the 2 I've bought both had it free with it. Not really such a big endorsement when everyone gets a copy.
I'm not sure how long it's been in a bundle, but I'm sure it does count as a sale considering Wii Sports does.

Well of course it fucking did. Halo has the biggest hype machine in all of gaming.
^This.
Not to mention that 360 has a lot more casual gamers, and every casual gamer in the world is gay for halo.

People like Kalyx, Roxer, and Fallen Angel. People who spend a lot of their time playing it, and are super competitive about it.
Anything short of that is a casual gamer? That is a pretty fucking wide brush stroke, therefore meaningless.
I think because xbox 360 and the Wii have opened up so many more people to gaming, that the definitions of hardcore and casual gamers ave changed.
Like, 10 years ago, I probably would have been considered a hardcore gamer, but now, I'm a casual gamer. |
Why, did you want to be a hardcore gamer or something?
No, you are just redefining terms to try to protect your believed PS3. "Duh, only casual gamers play halo."
Casual gamers are the ones playing Wii sports at parties, and they aren't buying Halo. Regular gamers are buying halo. |

I'm starting to think casual gamer means the same thing mark does on the wrestling forum. "You don't like the indy guys I like? Well you're just a mark, so whatever."

Also, I really don't understand your logic here. What makes Halo a game for hardcore gamers only? I know tons of people who rarely ever play videogames, but they own an xbox 360 and Halo 3. |
I never said it was for hardcore gamers only. I'm saying your logic is flawed that only reason Halo outsells 6 PS3 Exclusives combined is because casual gamers.
I never said it's the only reason, but it's a big factor.
I mean it's a very good game. I've never found it to be the holy grail of video gaming that the masses have made it out to be, but it's still a high quality FPS. |
There you go, it is a high quality FPS that is accessable to the masses, while these PS3 exclusives, while probably good games in their own right, fail to have that it factor to appeal to the masses.
Less of an it factor, and more of a giant multimedia campaign.
Halo slurpees, mountain dew, action figures, condoms.
Well maybe playstation should get some marketing, or can little old sony not complete with microsoft?
'Accessible to the masses' typically means casual gamers. Just saying.
Casual gamers means more like people playing nintedogs or dinner dash to me.
Those are also casual gamers. But there tends to be a pretty big line between 'gamer' and 'hardcore gamer'. A sometimes unhealthy line.
Actually, those people are barely gamers at all, tbh. Wouldn't even be sure if I'd call them casual gamers, as most gamers I know would barely consider things like those to be video games. DUNNO.
Ha!
Hmmm, I guess then if I was a video game company, I would trying to appeal to the casual gamers then anyhow because hardcore gamers are a locked in demographic that will buy it no matter what.

Well still I would market to the normal/casual gamer.
I would say there are 3 types.
Casual: Families that play Wii and shit. Average: Dudes who play mostly sports titles and shooters with the odd GTA or Red Dead in the collection. Hardcore: You know... |
