Say it ain't so Davey...

From the front page...

Alex Marvez recently interviewed ROH star Davey Richards, who announced that he will be finishing up with wrestling in December of this year. Here is part of the interview… “I didn’t plan to do this for my career. I’ve gotten done with paramedic school and have other things I want to concentrate on. I want to get my black belt in jiujitsu and finish the fire academy. I’m married now, too. Ring of Honor has so many talented guys that they don’t need me anymore.”
Seriously? Don't get me wrong, it's his life, but I can't think of when someone that talented, with that bright of a future, retired so young.

The Fugitive 06-17-2010 11:18 PM

I'm sure he'll get the fire burning every now and then and might be tempted to do a special appearance.

thedamndest 06-17-2010 11:33 PM

Sounds like he's going to be extinguishing a lot more fires in his future.

Kane Knight 06-17-2010 11:35 PM

I think it's great he's doing what he wants to do.

Live the dream, man!

thedamndest 06-17-2010 11:36 PM

It's a work.

RGWhat316 06-18-2010 12:05 AM

I find this hard to believe myself. Davey is too good to retire this young. But maybe he wants out before he destroys himself.

Nicky Fives 06-18-2010 08:25 AM

maybe he just wants to make decent money to support his family.....

Gertner 06-18-2010 09:39 AM

Good for him. Less vanilla midgets.

Chavo Classic 06-18-2010 09:42 AM

He was one of the few guys who I thought could actually make the grade in WWE. Despite the obvious issue with his height, he ticks the boxes of having 'the look' and 'the ability'.

BigDaddyCool 06-18-2010 09:45 AM

Who?

What Would Kevin Do? 09-11-2010 09:17 PM

Davey said it ain't so.

Great sit down promo by Davey w/ Jim Cornette at GBH, where he talks about his life, what wrestling means to him, and that essentially he's not going to retire right now.

FearedSanctity 09-12-2010 02:13 AM

Awesome news. Dude had easily the best matches of the night at ROH's Richmond and Charlotte shows a couple weeks ago. It'd suck to lose him

Dave Youell 09-12-2010 03:30 AM

He's been on about this for over a year now. Fair play to him, someone who can leave, on thier own terms, healthy and with a new career.

This is a good news story as far as I'm concerned.

He's not leaving anymore :)

Joesgonnakillyou 09-12-2010 08:32 AM

If he's not leaving, they need to put the ROH title on him quick.

BizarroKing 09-12-2010 09:52 AM

Work. OR WWE is interested.

Gertner 09-12-2010 10:57 AM

Lol what lame asses stayed home on a Saturday to watch an indy IPPV? Wow.

What Would Kevin Do? 09-12-2010 01:42 PM

Lol what lame asses try to troll indy wrestling fans on a wrestling board? Wow.

Gertner 09-12-2010 02:56 PM

That post took 2 seconds. You spent an entire Saturday night. Ouch.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-12-2010 02:57 PM

Gertner, seriously just shut the fuck up. You aren't funny.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-12-2010 02:57 PM

And no, I didn't watch the ppv nor do I ever watch ROH. Just can it though, ur being a huge fag.

You would have a valid point if I stayed home for that specific reason. However, being a wacky thing called an adult means that sometimes I'd actually prefer to stay at home and chill, and get some work done, versus going out.

So yeah Gertner, I stayed in, chilled, and ordered an ROH ippv that I enjoyed. I guess I deserve that "ouch" for doing what I wanted.

Anywho, the trolling is getting really old. It was cute to begin with, but you're just sad and repetitive. Grow up.

Furious Beardsley 09-12-2010 09:45 PM

I read this news months ago

Supreme Olajuwon 09-12-2010 10:02 PM

Like sometime around June 17th maybe?

SOCCER LEGS 09-12-2010 10:12 PM

probably the most sensible thing i've ever heard a wrestler say. dude doesn't want to die at age 30, can't fault him for that.

MoFo 09-12-2010 10:17 PM

The card was meant to have been fantastic.

Homicide v Strong should be good shit.

Gertner 09-12-2010 11:25 PM

This proves that indy fans are on a neverending period.

Supreme Olajuwon 09-13-2010 12:11 AM

God, you argue like an 8 year old, Gertner. Maybe you should've just stayed "retired."
