Looks like it's not "The Network" after all. *Possible Spoilers*
From PWInsider:
World Wrestling Entertainment filed a trademark on the term "The Nexus" on 6/13 for both the use of the name within professional wrestling and within clothing and shoe lines. That appears to be the final name for the NXT Posse, but we'll see. |
Seems like a pretty shitty name.
That being said, if they are bothering to give the stable an actual trademarked name and merchandise - it stands to reason that it will be a long-term angle (rather than ending at MITB or some shit). |
And I hope "The Network" is going to be for some other angle or something rather than just the rumored WWE Network. Brings me memories of Cyrus from ECW.

Seems fine to me.
|
Works better than 'The Network' imo.
|
the name makes more sense to me
|
The Nexus sounds pretty cool. And wasn't there a faction in the old ECW called The Network?
|
The Network back in ECW was almost a kayfabe-break as Heyman regularly took out his frustration on the actual tv network that aired ECW.
|
What VSG said.
Cyrus(the representative of the network) was always complaining that ECW was too violent, sexual, etc. It was a pretty good angle IMO. |
Best angle in ECW

The Network was awesome. The vid's even cooler for me cause the PPV was held at my college's gym. :o |
I like the idea of The Nexus, actually.

The RTC was a riff on the PTC (Parent's Televsion Council or something) who were lobbying against the content of WWF shows at the time. I think Stevie Richards was a direct take off of the guy that was their figurehead.
I believe I got this info from Foley's 2nd book. |

The WWE did, however, make fun of The Network on SD for a while, introducing a "Network Representative" character named Palmer Cannon. The joke being, his name meant he was a network "jack off". They never said he was from UPN, but he did speak for The Network. |
I don't think you needed Foley's second book to decipher that gimmick.
