Looks like it's not "The Network" after all. *Possible Spoilers*

From PWInsider:

World Wrestling Entertainment filed a trademark on the term "The Nexus" on 6/13 for both the use of the name within professional wrestling and within clothing and shoe lines.

That appears to be the final name for the NXT Posse, but we'll see.

Seems like a pretty shitty name.

That being said, if they are bothering to give the stable an actual trademarked name and merchandise - it stands to reason that it will be a long-term angle (rather than ending at MITB or some shit).

Evil Vito 06-20-2010 10:34 AM

And I hope "The Network" is going to be for some other angle or something rather than just the rumored WWE Network. Brings me memories of Cyrus from ECW.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-20-2010 10:36 AM

Lexis Nexus?

Seems fine to me.

addy2hotty 06-20-2010 10:56 AM

Works better than 'The Network' imo.

blak23 06-20-2010 10:57 AM

the name makes more sense to me

Rammsteinmad 06-20-2010 11:10 AM

The Nexus sounds pretty cool. And wasn't there a faction in the old ECW called The Network?

VSG 06-20-2010 11:14 AM

The Network back in ECW was almost a kayfabe-break as Heyman regularly took out his frustration on the actual tv network that aired ECW.

LuigiD 06-20-2010 11:24 AM

What VSG said.
Cyrus(the representative of the network) was always complaining that ECW was too violent, sexual, etc. It was a pretty good angle IMO.

The Pope 06-20-2010 11:56 AM

Best angle in ECW

The Network was awesome. The vid's even cooler for me cause the PPV was held at my college's gym. :o

Mr. Nerfect 06-20-2010 05:28 PM

I like the idea of The Nexus, actually.

Sounds like WWE ripped off ECW with The Right To Censor group, or was it the other way around?

The Blame Game 06-21-2010 07:35 PM

The RTC was a riff on the PTC (Parent's Televsion Council or something) who were lobbying against the content of WWF shows at the time. I think Stevie Richards was a direct take off of the guy that was their figurehead.

I believe I got this info from Foley's 2nd book.

I dunno about the book, but the rest is right.

The WWE did, however, make fun of The Network on SD for a while, introducing a "Network Representative" character named Palmer Cannon. The joke being, his name meant he was a network "jack off". They never said he was from UPN, but he did speak for The Network.

thedamndest 06-21-2010 07:47 PM

I don't think you needed Foley's second book to decipher that gimmick.

Palmer Cannon should be related to Lucky Cannon somehow.
