Has SciFi ever made anything good?
I saw the beginning of Tin Man last night, it was boring and took forever to start, so much so I stopped giving a crap. I like Zooey Deschanel, and she is hot and whatever. So I was trying to watch because I really like her and all. But no the Tin Man story was just dumb. I couldn't for the life of me care about what was going to happen next.
And I then startered thinking this was one of SciFi channel's biggest success, and they were promoting the hell out of it during ECW. After watching the 10 or 20 minutes of it that I did, I'm no longer surprised that ECW was SciFi's highest rated show. |
Was Taken (mini-series created by Steven Spielberg) produced by Sci Fi?
I haven't seen it, but I have heard that it's very good and has high production qualities. Those are two things Sci Fi doesn't seem to know very much about. If it's any good, we can thank Spielberg. I haven't seen it though. I'd like to check it out. |

I remember when Sci Fi Channel first started, and only certain markets carried it. It was awesome back then.
It was pretty exciting when my area picked it up on cable. That's when they used to show reruns of actual quality science fiction movies and shows, and a lot of great "making of" documentaries. They also showed old monster movies and MST3K/B-Movies. Monster-Vision late nights on TNT was also incredible. They should have stuck to that style, since producing original programming shouldn't be done unless it's going to be good. I think there seems to be some kind of following for the stuff they churn out though. I honestly think I heard that more people watch their original movies and programming than classic material. We live in a sick world. |

Yeah, I like SciFi when it was called SciFi, no SyFy. and they played old shit like transformers, star wars, star trek, planet of the apes and stuff like that. The movies and tv shows they produce are simply awful.

Stargate is the only good thing they show these days.
|
The biggest problem with Sci Fi is that they decided they didn't want to do science fiction anymore. These were the guys who saved Stargate and Farscape. They ran some decent "original material," though most of it came from other sources originally.
Of their current lineup, Sanctuary is decent. Stargate Galactica might even become exciting. |
Then again for ever Star Wars or Star Trek there are 100 Battlefield Earth's in the scifi genre.

It's just not many have a channel devoted to their failures. Quote:

You need to be shot.

Did they do the second Tremors movie? If so, that was ok. I'm pretty sure they did the third and that was terrible. Plus they did that Tremors in the old west movie. Pure shit.

I wouldn't call producing movies about killer ants and flying megladons main-stream transformation.
If anything, the programming they were showing before was more mainstream. |
