Rank a Wrestler #2 - HHH

Alright guys you know the drill.

My favorite HHH was during the McMahon-Helmsley regime. I liked that he was a heel that could still go over clean. He can talk and wrestle pretty well and has been involved in many big matches. However, he does get injured from time to time and one can't help but wonder how successful he would have become if not for his relationship with Steph or being in the clique. My only real beef with the guy right now is that he's been on for so long that I don't mind not seeing him these past few weeks, it gives others the chance to shine. In any case I've been debating it for a while and I'd give the guy an 8.7 which will round up to 9 in this case.

Poll to come.

AKin3D 06-23-2010 08:54 AM

His feud with Goldust is when I started to like him and honestly I never had a problem with his ring work or mic skills. I defiantly grew tired of him always having the title, and having to spend the first 15 minutes of Raw watching him talk. As geno33soccer you just can't help, but wonder where he would have been without the Kliq and Step. His injuries are one the most notable things in his career. The timing for them sucked, but at the same time were a blessing. I always wonder what would've happened if he hadn't got hurt in 2001. Anyway gave him a 8.

XCaliber 06-23-2010 09:59 AM

Like him or not he was a major cornerstone of the Attitude Era and is one of the best all around talents they've ever had so I give him a 9 which I think is rather generous.

Swiss Ultimate 06-23-2010 10:08 AM

I enjoyed D-Generate HHH, was put off by his super-push, came around to enjoy him again afterwards, was put off by his 30-minute promos and gave him undeserved shit for "retiring" Foley, enjoy him now. He's still great in the ring.

VSG 06-23-2010 10:17 AM

A definite 9 atleast, I have always been a fan.

The Gold Standard 06-23-2010 10:36 AM

I love HHH. I think he is a lot better than people give him credit for. I understand the frustration because he is married to Stephanie and gets extra pushes, but I don't have a problem with it because he is one of the best. Most of the wrestlers that are "buried" by Triple H were not even ready yet.

VSG 06-23-2010 10:41 AM

7 months ago we were pissed Sheamus got the title because he was HHH's travel buddy. How things change!

DAMN iNATOR 06-23-2010 10:48 AM

Gave him a 7. He was great before his 2002-2005 almost continuous 3 year title run, which has kinda mildly soured me on him a bit and made me think he was just slightly overrated and probably closer to an average wrestler than most people care to admit. Unfortunately, 14 title runs don't mean much if your most recent ones were basically transitional ones which is what several of the past 3-4 or so have been.

Oddly enough the same could be easily said about Flair.

Nicky Fives 06-23-2010 10:50 AM

I voted 8 for Rey, so IMO HHH by default is higher than that..... I think he's had moments in his career where he has been stale, so I feel a 9 is the perfect score

The Gold Standard 06-23-2010 10:57 AM

I wonder if someone will actually get a 10

Has James Steele voted yet? :shifty:

BigDaddyCool 06-23-2010 12:06 PM

I gave him a 10 because I'm a fucking fat fuck fan boy. Same is going for Nash, god bless that man.

Haze 06-23-2010 12:09 PM

Easily one of the best workers in the buisness. I have always felt that his ability hasn't been given enough credit due to his relationship with Steph.

I would give HBK and Taker 10's. Probably not Flair due to him overstaying his career, but in principle I would want to.

There maybe be a select few I would give a ten but it would merely from rounding up for a 9.5 since it's not an option for these particular polls.

Evil Vito 06-23-2010 12:29 PM

A solid 8. He can work, he can talk, and I don't think his relationship with Steph had THAT big of a deal with his title reigns. He may have 1 or 2 less title reigns, but that's it. The guy is a legit main eventer.

My reason for the 2 deduction points are because I thought he was really shit during the "Reign of Terror" from late 2002-early 2005 or so. The feuds all felt the same and his promos just dragged on. Really started to like him again during his feud with Batista. His 2006 face turn felt like a breath of fresh air, but now I'd really love for him to get one last heel run.

Jordan 06-23-2010 01:02 PM

Maybe I am in a good mood but 10.

Aside from The Undertaker I think he is the longest standing member of WWE's roster. Then follows Mark Henry I think.

Sure he has his politics but he is the Game. He is going to go down in the books as being on top for at least a decade at this point, in time it will be more.

He will take the Harley Race/Flair style and do what Flair should have done, stop when you need too.

MoFo 06-23-2010 01:05 PM

9 since he made the main event, a generous 5 for 'Hunter Hearst Helmsley'

whiteyford 06-23-2010 01:18 PM

An 8, big vito summed it up nicely.

Razzamajazz 06-23-2010 01:27 PM

was never a big fan of his, but the guy is good

The Pope 06-23-2010 01:45 PM

Aren't these XERO threads?

jskinnyg 06-23-2010 02:02 PM

Where the Hell is the page long JamesSteele comments???

Well, my two cents will piss everyone off a bit, but here goes... First of all Big Vito above said just about exactly what I was going to put down... However I added the 2 points and gave this guy a 10, and here's why... He's a 10 on the mic 95% of the time... He's got too much time on it, but that's Vince's call... He gets a 10 in the ring for me because not only has he been entertaining in the ring for years, he can put anyone over and will because he lives/breathes the business and actually seems to care about the next generation... He hasn't always been this way, but the last 10 years he has... His stables, DX, Evolution, etc. have been some of the best if not THE best the WWF/WWE & Wrestling has ever had... Ric Flair wanted to be in this stable and together they trained and pretty much made Orton, Batista, Sheamus and other guys HUGE in the Co...

In closing, there aren't many 10's in this business, but I think this guy's love for the business and his positives atributes way overshine the obvious negative ones...

P.S. JamesSteele, you can send the check to 13456 Queens Rd, Charlotte, NC....

VSG 06-23-2010 02:33 PM

Ok Steele has definitely seen this thread, I await his reply. Go for it, dude!

Tazz Dan 06-23-2010 02:35 PM

I really want to give him a 10..... But he shall get a 9.

Tazz Dan 06-23-2010 02:35 PM

I will quote an earlier post of mine which sums up why "The Game/The King of Kings/The Cerebral Assassin/The Greatest of all Fucking Time" Triple H is a rock-hard erect 10!!

Dear WWE,

I want to thank you for giving this world "The King of Kings" Triple H. I do not know what my life would be like had Triple H never impacted it like he has. His passion for professional wrestling and the World Heavyweight Championship have made me yearn for my dreams with such fervor. I remember when I became a disciple of Triple H. The night after WrestleMania XIV, Shawn Michaels was out of the WWF, and Triple H assumed control of D-Generation X. He then said how you must look for your blood...you must look to the KLIQ. I knew at that moment, that like me, Triple H was loyal to his friends and destructive to his enemies.

I remember looking on in awe as Triple H began his meteoric rise to the top of WWF and all of professional wrestling. He has ended careers, broken Jim Ross' arms, fucked a corpse, and buried jobbers all in the name of living his dream...being the best in the world at what he does. I can only hope, I too, can do the same for my dreams. The entire world can use Triple H as a guiding light in our quests for immortality and understanding our life's meaning.

I remember fondly when Triple H returned in 2002 after a career-threatening tear of his quadriceps muscle. The electricity in the air on Monday, January 7, 2002 was awe-inspiring. I felt the vibrations of Madison Square Garden through my television screen. The tears rolled down my cheek as Triple H returned on top of the world and for a moment forever frozen in time, Triple H was the king of the world. He overcame the odds, and he refused to accept defeat. He fought back from the bring of death to recapture his dream and the magic of his career. Triple H went on to the hottest streak of his career from 2002 until 2005. Then, in January of 2007, at the New Years Revolution event, Triple H tore his quad again...and with bated breath I waited for months until his return at the SummerSlam event of that year. Truly, Triple H refuses to be stopped until he completes his mission. That mission is to live a full life and have a historic and happy career. I too have made this my mission. Just like Triple H is a 13-time World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H wants us to find it within ourselves to be at our very best all the time. We must dig deep within ourselves to find what makes us better than everybody else and use that to propel us past our wildest dreams!

Triple H is not only "The Game". Triple H is not only "The King of Kings". Triple H is not only "that damn good". Triple H is not only "my hero". No, Triple H is something words can't describe. The only way for you and the world to understand Triple H is to watch him with the most focus you can give him...then maybe you can understand why he has exceeded perfection and exceeded immortality. Maybe we can all understand why and how Triple H is...Triple H.

Sincerely,

James Emmitt Steele

I repped everyone accordingly in this thread, btw.

I have ran out of rep to give out for 24 hours, so please be patient in this thread. Also, I suggest all of you who are for HHHim join The Church of Triple H™ of which I am pastor.

You're wrong. I meant every word of what I said above, and yet for some reason you felt it was necessary to neg. me. Probably because of the last bit I mentioned. I don't even care why, TBH. You've always been a mark for HHH, and my personal opinion of him is that he deserved a 7 out of 10.

Now if I had wanted to be an arrogant prick or to just troll the shit out of this thread I could have easily voted a way lower rating for HHH, but I chose to give my honest opinion. You're just getting butthurt because not everybody would be willing to rate him a perfect 10 like you would.
