She should shoot all her campaign ads as GTV segments.

Rammsteinmad 06-24-2010 10:40 AM

'That's not real, but our problems are'.

I wonder if Vince approves of his wife destroying kayfabe.

Xero 06-24-2010 10:54 AM

They should have shown her taking the Stunner and kicking JR in the balls instead of other segments from those angles.

Innovator 06-24-2010 10:55 AM

Or being comatose in a wheelchair while Vince makes out with Trish.

Kane Knight 06-24-2010 11:36 AM

Hey, let's debunk the conspiracy theory we established.

BigDaddyCool 06-24-2010 11:39 AM

Best way to fight smear campiagns is by owning your flaws.

James Steele 06-24-2010 01:31 PM

Brilliant.

Yeah, but she's a total hypocrite for going back on things we attributed to her!

ImAnIdiot 06-24-2010 07:01 PM

OK I know I am going to be blasted for this... but Why in the hell do all politicians who do their own commercials say the "I'm So-And-So and I approve this message." Why would they even film a commercial and not approve it???

Swiss Ultimate 06-24-2010 07:44 PM

You know what would stop Congressmen from insanely inflating the deficit and destroying America?

SPOILER: show

It may seemm dumb in one specifically filmed by, say Linda, but a lot of them aren't made by the people the ad promotes.

As such, it's considered a watermark.

CSL 06-24-2010 10:49 PM

She's no Sam Seaborn running for the California 47th.

I've always thought along those lines when I see an ident for a TV show where "[INSERT BRAND HERE] proudly sponsors [INSERT SHOW HERE]". Obviously you're proud to do it, you wouldn't be ashamed to sponsor it would you!?

Innovator 06-25-2010 09:36 AM

What the fuck is up with the red sweater? Linda, if you want to win, flaunt it.

The Mackem 06-25-2010 10:00 AM

The Mackem ashamed of sponsoring TNA iMPACT

Kane Knight 06-25-2010 11:07 AM

Remember when Vince promised that he would no longer push Cena?

Remember when Kane held the WHC for six straight months?

Remember when Daniel Bryan or Bryan Danielson or whatever was actually a draw?

Jonathan KoЯn 06-25-2010 07:24 PM

I don't think she ever distanced herself from wrestling. That's just another bullshit story the internet cooked up to hock dirtsheets

Yeah, because it's not like she's doing anything important with her life, like running for U.S. Senate.

Tazz Dan 06-26-2010 09:42 PM

She approves this message, but the bigger question is does she approve a Tazz Dan Moderation?

tjmidnight420 06-27-2010 12:15 AM

Wasn't Punk still fairly new to WWE at the time?

Mr. Nerfect 06-27-2010 12:19 AM

Yeah, it was 2006. Survivor Series was in Philly, the crowd was a little smarky, and they gave the then undefeated CM Punk a good welcome, but nothing too outstanding right away. DX, The Hardys and Punk were warming up the crowd and they decided to chant for CM Punk as Triple H was trying to do his shtick. He improvised well and got CM Punk to deliver the "Are you ready?" line, but I found it funny when later that week, Punk lost his undefeated streak to Hardcore Holly, and the following weekend was the first to be eliminated from the infamous Extreme Elimination Chamber, also by Hardcore Holly, I believe. Punk probably should not have won the match (a heel turn for Bobby Lashley screwing over Rob Van Dam or Punk would have been the smarter booking), but it seemed a little weird that Punk gets that moment at Survivor Series, and then loses all his momentum.

Be very careful with your insinuations. I will give you 24 hours to edit that post and change the insinuation before I unleash hell upon thee.

Vastardikai 07-24-2010 10:47 AM

Fact Check:

Pro-Wrestling stopped being a "traveling side-show" for the most part well before Linda McMahon was conceived. It was it's own thing.

Bigger issue: Linda McMahon had about as much of a role in "taming" pro-wrestling as Austin's second wife (Chris Adams' ex) had in creating the Stone Cold gimmick. And even THAT is being generous.

Quote:

In American politics, "I approve this message" (sometimes in the past tense, also with "authorize" in place of "approve", or with "ad" instead of "message") is a phrase said by candidates for federal office in political advertisements on television and radio in order to comply with the so-called "Stand By Your Ad" provision of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA), enacted in 2002, that requires "a statement by the candidate that identifies the candidate and states that the candidate has approved the communication." The provision was intended to force political candidates running any campaign for office in the United States to associate themselves to their television and radio advertising, thereby discouraging them from making controversial claims or attack ads.
