Two of the best the industry has ever seen so it's hard to choose but in the end my vote goes to The Rock the guy just had it all where he lacked in technical skill he made up in charisma.

This guy was a great athlete. what did you do the first time you saw Rocky kip up? Who else could make an elbow THE MOST ELECTRIFYING MOVE IN SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT? And which WM Moment do YOU REmember most about Hulk Hogan? Him slamming Andre, or him going ONE ON ONE WITH THE GREAT ONE? The guy was fucking epic in so many aspects, it was ridiculous |

I don't think there is a wrong answer. Brett is great a lot of things and the Rock is great at a lot of things. few of the things that they are great at are simliar.

It always irked me that Rocky decided to add the sharpshooter to his big match repertoire, but never bothered to learn how do it correctly. Like you'd think someone might mention it in passing, or he might see an old Hart match and be like "Aw man mine doesn't look anything like that."

I wonder how many people will vote against Bret using his WM angle as an excuse while totally ignoring 'The Blue Chipper' Rocky Maivia which was possibly one of the worst gimmicks ever? Or maybe not, but whatever.
I'm a fan of both guys, and The Rock fitted in great for a few years during the Attitude Era, but nothing he did in the ring could ever compete with Bret from the late eighties to mid nineties. Also, I get that defining 'better' isn't just about in-ring work, but The Rock was a freak on the mic and not many people in history could compare with his charisma on it, especially in Brets day, so I don't think it's fair to hold that against Bret. So yeah, Bret gets my vote here. |

I voted Bret. Mostly cause I think the rock was one of the most boring wreslters ever in ring. Just a routine guy. Go in, have the paint by numbers match, go home...and the opffense...just so bad. Either retarded concepts (float over DDT and the peoples elbow) or poorly executed (everything else.) Also his baby face promos are very terrible. Poop and penis jokes for everybody...such shit. Loved his heel work from the nation run the corperation run and the hollywood run promo wise but the matches reminds relitively unchanged. The Rock could sell his ass off though I'll give him that. Basically...he's exactly like Cena cept less people noticed he sucked.

Rocky never hurt anyone in the ring, and shitty or not he could tell a hell of a story in his paint by numbers matches. Desty touched on his comparison to Cena, we're missing one absolutely obvious part here: He was totally company. He put over whoever, whenever the WWE asked him to. HHH? no problem. Stone Cold? Gotcha. Brock? Sure Vince, thanks for the movie role. Goldberg? ...Vince, these are really nice checks. You got it brother. Hogan? Ugh, this company shit is...I wasn't raised like that, sure vince I'll job. If there are a bunch of different factors to being a wrestler, then attitude has to be a factor. He was good in the locker room, also.

Now come on James, I'm a fan of both Bret AND Shawn. Montreal aside for a moment, just remember who did Shawn go over to win his first title? Now tell me, when did Shawn ever drop the belt back to Bret? I'm not saying Bret was right in his part of 'Montreal' and I don't want to go into that argument. At that time everyone knows those two guys hated each other and we also know Bret wanted to drop the belt to Austin, who was way more popular at the time than HBK.
But yeah, this isn't about that, it's about who was better between Bret and The Rock. And I believe Bret was. |
