Can Roy Nelson be the one to take out Brock?
On the surface you can take one look at Brock and one look at Roy and say Brock Lesnar hands down, but could Roy be the one to take down the champ?
I love the way Dana says that Roy looks like "A guy you grabbed out of any buffet in Las Vegas". Contrary to how he phyically looks, Roy is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and has alot of power in his stand up. Brock did show some weakness in his standup durring his fight with Carwin, could Roy be the one to exploit it? |
Unless he is able to submit Brock from his back, or lands a huge right hand, than no. He doesn't have the wrestling or athletism to stop Brocks takedowns.
|
i doubt it. i mean out of his 265lbs, how much do you think is muscle weight? i can see brock dominating the division for a while. i think carwin could beat him if they fought again, with an altered gameplan etc.
|
plus with nelson, he hasn't really fought anyone. he got beat by arlovski, and arlovski is fucking awful now. i think he'll settle around the mid to upper mid level. like above someone like ben rothwell but below crocop.
|
Yeah, I like Big COuntry, but he is not a legit title contender. He is good, but not great. I could see him getting a shot in a bit, but he would need to really catch Brock to beat him.
I think Carwin is the only one who can definitely beat Lesnar in a fight. |

I don't really think so. He's compact and a little lower to the ground than alot of the heavyweights which really helps him out in certain fights. It wouldn't help him in a fight against Brock though. Brock is to strong and is much too good of a wrestler for that to be a factor. Roy is an excellent grappler on the ground but I don't see it helping him against a genetic freak like Brock.
|
Fuck no.
Brock has better wrestling, and based on what I saw against Carwin, probably a better chin. I'll be extremely surprised if Dos Santos doesn't crush Fat Country as it is. |
im still thinking Cain has the best shot. We shall see.
|
Kimbo took Nelson down. There is no doubt in my mind that Brock would steam roll his way to a mount and pound him out. The take downs and transitions would probably be too quick for him and then he's mounted and probably not flexible enough to get a good sweep going.

Are standing kicks allowed in UFC? Should be given that its MMA, but wanted to confirm. I still maintain no wrestler/grappler can take out Brock anytime soon. It will have to be someone seriously technical. That Roy guy sounds like he fits the criteria.

Lesnar is all about controlling his opponents body. Wrestlers are the most aware of what they body is doing at all times, I'd say. It makes sense that Brock would struggle against other wrestlers. If it was a straight wrestling match, he'd have the advantage but Brock has to have every discipline eating away at his brain every time he takes a guy down. There's so many more things to worry about now. He's not just trying to pin shoulders to the mat anymore, (weak reference. I know wrestling is alot more than that) lots more to worry about.

He will beat JDS then lose to Brock, who will beat Cain.

Brock's main offence is his ability to control somebody on the ground. From what I've heard Roy is a very legit threat on the ground. I think that if Brock fights a guy that has a tough chin and a very solid ground game, he would lose. I think Cain, Junior or Roy all fit that bill |
I think the only way to take Lesner out if on his feet. Mir rocked him in their last fight before he decided to be a retard and throw a flying knee. If you could get somebody quick enough to avoid getting taken down and throw a kick to the teeth that's how you beat Brock, imo.
