Beavis and Butthead Returning?

Quote:

REVIEWniverse has exclusively learned from an anonymous source that Mike Judge is currently outlining 30 new episodes of his iconic animated comedy Beavis and Butt-Head for its native network.

The source conceded that plans for actual broadcast are not yet cemented, or even a given, but confirmed that the King of the Hill/Office Space/Idiocracy maestro is definitely in the midst of writing new B and B material with the hopes of a full-throttle return...Judge plans on retaining the show's original ghetto-tech aesthetic, right down to the faded color palatte.

hmmm

Sweet I think

Jeritron 07-08-2010 01:20 AM

When I read it the biggest doubt I had was whether they'd try to update it with really good animation and make the show into more of a Family Guy thing or something.
But it was pretty sweet to hear that they intend to keep the same style, and Mike Judge is writing it.
As long as it's Beavis and Butthead watching videos and engaging in activities like taking spanish fly and rolling tires down hills, I will watch it.

Hope they still have this and the music

Hopefully this turns out better than when they tried to bring back Celebrity Deathmatch

That's no shit. It just didn't look right. And the voices weren't the same. It was absolute garbage. I doubt the same people were involved with it the second time around though. As long as Mike Judge is in charge then I say it's gonna be the classic Beavis and Butthead we all love and miss.

OverTaker 07-08-2010 10:16 AM

COOL, Huhhuh

YEAH, Hehheh

Triple Naitch 07-08-2010 10:48 AM

I hope he still has them watching videos. Would love to see them critique Lady GaGa and Ke$ha.

El Tigre 07-08-2010 10:58 AM

B&B is by far a pioneer in the realm of "mature" or "crass" cartoons. I'm positive that without this show their would have been no South Park, Drawn Together, ATHF, the list goes on and on. But taking into account how many of these shows exist, is their room for a returning classic such as this. I recall how psyched I was when Ren & Stimpy returned with new episodes on Spike a year or three ago, and of course that ended in disappointment. As Jeritron mentioned, as long as they keep the old animation (not to say that a little spruce up wouldn't hurt) and Mike Judge stays at the helm, it should be okay.

On a side thought, I've always envisioned Beavis & and Butthead returning but as half hour program consisting solely of the two dudes watching present day videos and commenting on them.

mitchables 07-08-2010 11:31 AM

do you deliberately have bad visions or what

McLegend 07-08-2010 11:45 AM

Beavis and Butthead scream 1990's to me.

Swiss Ultimate 07-08-2010 11:51 AM

It can't be any worse than the Ren and Stimpy return.

I dont mind if they have plots in the shows but the videos should take up 90% of the show.

I'm pretty sure a lot more than 90% of people disliked that.

Triple A 07-08-2010 12:57 PM

I feel worried about this now, like it will spawn a "whole new generation" of fans who will ruin it somehow like Napoleon Dynamite or something, and I will feel embarrassed to have my avatar.

Lock Jaw 07-09-2010 01:06 AM

Never really got into it.

DrA 07-18-2010 03:39 AM

I don't know about this. Beavis and Butthead was perfect for the time that it originally aired. It might not work well in a 2010 internet-ubiquitous culture where it will air right before The Kardashians Go to a Beach.

DAMN iNATOR 07-18-2010 07:37 AM

I'm all for it, IF they keep the original asthetics in place as the article mentioned. If it tries to be too much about today and being culturally relevant with today's music and society and what not, maybe not so much.

DrA nailed it on the head.

It is like if Mike Myers decided to make a Wayne's World 3 now. Just wrong.

They NEED to keep this like it was. Same market etc. Ofc there will be changes, but they still need the music vids, old, new and other music (RnB etc). Just don't butcher it completely. It needs to keep it's soul.

dronepool 07-18-2010 08:56 PM

I highly look forward to it and hope with this news, they put out a DVD of all the episodes the 3 Best of Volumes didn't have.

Triple A 07-19-2010 04:47 PM

"The problem with" things like this is that when a show returns years later, it always seems like it is trying way too hard to "capture the essence" of the old show and just ends up seeming like some dickhead wrote some shitty "fan fiction" or something where they just repeat old jokes for a "cheap pop." Always seems really forced.

Mostly worried about the Napoleon Dynamite quoting thing though.

FakeLaser 07-19-2010 06:28 PM

I hope they don't make them gay lovers like Ren and Stimpy

Triple A 07-23-2010 07:56 PM

Was just watching a DVD of The Animation Show by Mike Judge and there is an intro "by" Beavis and Butt-head. It is from 2006 and it is still funny so it is making me feel like this would actually be good.

Justin Bieber Tweets The Return Of MTV's 'Beavis And Butt-Head'

DrA 02-02-2011 07:25 PM

Didn't know that Daria lasted until 2002.

Triple A 02-02-2011 07:29 PM

Splaya, definitely going to have a Beavis and Butt-head avatar.

Triple A 02-02-2011 07:29 PM

The Naitch

The Naitch 02-02-2011 07:41 PM

and Justin Bieber is supposed to be the new host for Punk'd

Wouldn't mind seeing B&BH talk about Kanye West videos. They were cool in the 90's but seeing them in the 10's would be fresh. Especially with Ke$ha videos

BigDaddyCool 02-02-2011 07:43 PM

i'm disappointed.

Kapoutman 02-03-2011 12:22 PM

I'm excited.

So mint! Triple A is gay
