MTV2 Presents: LUCHA LIBRE - Masked Warriors

http://www.411mania.com/siteimages/l...xico_48226.jpg

Ok MTV2 is getting back in to pro wrestling. This time it is in the form of Mexican/American Lucha Libre. The show seems to be hosted by rapper Fat Joe. I am watching the TV preview on MTV2 right now. I am seeing a lot of familiar old faces and a bunch of exciting new faces.

The show debuts Friday July 16th

Here is the link to the site for more information:

I hope this hasn't been posted before as I don't remember seeing it anywhere. What ya'll think? I think it looks pretty great and unique to be honest.

The Pope 07-15-2010 11:56 AM

MTV will fuck it up.

Schlomey 07-15-2010 11:58 AM

the preview is great. So yeah I hope MTV doesn't fuck it up.

The show will start with a tournament for the United States championship.

Anybody Thrilla 07-15-2010 12:04 PM

They have already fucked up by having Fat Joe host.

Savio 07-15-2010 12:06 PM

what about Wrestling Society X?

This

Schlomey 07-15-2010 12:08 PM

He might just be the "voice" of the show and not the actual host.

MTV2 typically has some type of celeb introduce new shows to the public to gain interest and the celebs aren't even a part of the actual show.

We will see tomorrow.

Jordan 07-15-2010 12:10 PM

Looks fuckin great

Schlomey 07-15-2010 12:12 PM

i agree with jordan X

Schlomey 07-15-2010 12:13 PM

kinda dumb they are putting it on the same night as Smackdown. It would have been smarter to make it Wednesdays with a replay on Saturdays....The only nights of the week that wrestling isn't on.

WSX was doomed form the start. Anytime your biggest star is Sean Waltman, you have low ratings, then argue with the network exectutives your not gonna last. It looks like a good mix of AAA and CMLL stars like La Parka, Gronda, Charlie Manson and even a few american stars like Mark Jindrak and Rellik (thats killer spelled backwards)

The Pope 07-15-2010 12:28 PM

Lizmark Jr.

Swiss Ultimate 07-15-2010 12:28 PM

But, is it the real La Parka or one of the billion La Parka clones?

Sadly no, the chairman of WCW that we all grew up with is not the one featured here. Oddly enough the original is now known as L.A. Park while the new guy gets the title (just seems weird to me).

On the subject of MTV2's newest acquisition, I'm more or less on the fence over how I should feel about:

On the one hand watching random AAA matches of Youtube has always been a pain in the ass, so the chance to watch an entire program does intrigue me. However, if history has taught us anything it's that English adaptions of anything don't always turn out well (that bit about Fat Joe actually being a host is already making me cringe).

In the end though I'll probably still check them out. Who knows, it could end up the being the rival promotion TNA hopes to one day achieve:lol:

Bubba 07-15-2010 03:15 PM

Anyone know when or if it will be shown in the uk?

Xero 07-15-2010 03:19 PM

So is this all first run/new programming or some other promotion's footage with English commentary?

El Tigre 07-15-2010 04:10 PM

I'm thinking a little from column A and a little from column B

Soo... does that mean La Parka=Doink? (People just put on the cotsume and poof there that wrestler) If that's the case they should give the La Parka mask to Super Porky (5ft 7 300lbs) or give Skipp Shefield the Doink makeup...

Michael Cole: "Wow, Doink looks in great shape for his age" (hits that decaptitating closeline) "VINTAGE DOINK!!!!!!"

jskinnyg 07-15-2010 05:27 PM

Is is the second La Parka... The original La Parka from the WCW days is called L.A. Park... Stupid I know, but that's the story... 2nd guy is better anyway...

It's one of those Mexican lucha Libre things where he lost his mask once, and one you lose it, you lose it... He relenquished it to the new La Parka... So now the original guy is called L.A. Park... Confusing I know... You should try to follow Lucha Libre rules... Even MORE confusing...

jskinnyg 07-15-2010 05:43 PM

But I am looking forward to the show... It looks pretty damn good...

I think they scraped the plans of using AAA footage. I believe this was taped in So Cal.

Rollermacka 07-17-2010 01:39 AM

Will it help that there on MTV2?

I was watching Lucha Libre USA, and it wasnt horrible. The show is actually filmed at Agua Caliente casino, so its recient (I remember seeing signs for it last week). Did anybody else check it out? It's on MTV 2 so there probibly not expecting high ratings. Anybody else have any thoughts or opinions on there first show?

Dante69 07-17-2010 04:09 AM

wasn't too bad of a show, the minis tore it up :)

owenbrown 07-17-2010 04:15 AM

Schlomey 07-17-2010 10:20 AM

Hi. My thread on this subject was only half way down the first page.

Fat Joe vs Samoa Joe. That would please the fans.

Kane Knight 07-17-2010 12:37 PM

Will it help that where on MTV2?

thedamndest 07-17-2010 12:41 PM

Under there.

The Pope 07-17-2010 01:20 PM

Would you guys believe me if I say that MTV showed a music video?

Schlomey 07-17-2010 01:21 PM

mtv has like 6 channels. MTV original and MTV2 both show music videos from 4am until 7am. The rest of the channels are almost strictly music or music related programs.

Schlomey 07-17-2010 01:22 PM

if you can look past the horrid rap crap (I can't) then I suggest MTV U. It plays decent to tolerable college radio type songs with only a seasoning of shit.

If it's the La Parka from AAA, then it is the original's nephew.
