Rank a Wrestler #12 - Curt Hennig
Just got home from work and I'm way to tired to come up with something to say right now, but at least I posted it. |
I'll have the updated rankings by Monday's rank a wrestler.
Hennig is a favorite of mine, and he's from Minnesota (like me).
Obvious 10. Cause he's that damn perfect. |
9. Almost perfect for a man who was Perfect.
OBJECTION!
That makes no sense, if he's perfect then he has to have a 10 otherwise his name wouldn't be Mr. Perfect. |
In terms of in ring ability and being a solid competitor in every match, he was great. He played a perfect no pun intend heel and I am glad he is in the HOF. I was never really into his promos. He was good on the mic, not as good as some other people at the time like Savage for instance but he definitely deserves his praises as he is a favorite of mine. I ranked him at 7.
10 he is indeed perfect!!!
It takes a perfect man to know another... 10
A solid 7.
His NWA title run & his time in WWF was what made him a 7. Once he went to WCW he got slaughtered and uninteresting. He had the potential to be a 10. |
Great on the mic, great in the ring.

10 definately
Potential to be a 10 but never reached it in my mind... He was good on the mic but not like an HBK, Jericho, Flair good on the mic... He was great in the ring, but not a 10, despite his Perfect gimmick... I give him a 7.5 and round up to an 8...
P.S. I never forgave creative for letting Flair get revenge for Perfect slamming the shit out of Flair's head in the War Games cage in Greensboro, NC circa 98/99... That was some BS... |
P.P.S. Never a WWE/WCW World Champ = How could you possibly be a 10?
I guess there could be exceptions to the rule, but would Mr. Perfect accept exceptions?? I don't think so.... |

9 coz of the fact he never held the world championship. otherwise he would of been a 10.
8 guy was awesome in the ring but just never really stood out to me all that much
I gave him a 9, but I think it's pretty stupid not to give him a 10 because he wasn't world champion. How is that about his talent or ability?

Perfect score for The Perfect One.....
Nobody deserves a 10 more than Mr. Perfect.
Underrated throughout a good portion of his carreer he deserves a 9 for sure.
I gave him a 10. The only thing I wish is that we could have got a Flair/Perfect feud for the WWF title in 1992/1993.
Can't really explain why, but 7. Maybe because I never got to see a good look at much of his work
One of the very best. Would have multiple world title reigns in this day and age. Tip-top in ring and out. 8.5 if it would have been possible but 9 since it's not (he's better than an 8)
He was absolutely Perfect (until wcw ruined him)

Now, re: the poll, I'm giving Hennig a 10. He was a great technical wrestler, knew his holds, knew how to work the crowd, held some titles, and had the look. He had a very strong run in the AWA where he was rightly involved at the top of many of their cards (i.e., his matches against Nick Bockwinkle), he entertained many people as Mr. Perfect (one of the best characters of all-time) and he should forever be known as one of the best Intercontinental Champions in history. |

What folks need to keep in mind, is that when Hennig was in the World Wrestling Federation, Vince was booking babyface champions, not heel. Curt was one of the most athletic and technical heavyweights to ever step foot in a pro wrestling ring, and to see him do what he did at 6'3, 245-250 pounds was remarkable. Plus he had the heel psychology. Before HBK or Bret got their main event push, Hennig was the one who combined all of those skills into a heel. A+ athlete, A+technician, A+ heel psychology, and A+ charisma. If he had been given a chance to be the champion in what was then the WWF, he could have had at least a three month solid reign with enjoyable programs against Hart, Luger, Hogan, Flair and Savage. |
