Is regular FIFA just like FIFA World Cup?

Or is the World Cup version just a simpler dumbed down version? I'm thinking about getting FIFA 11 when it comes out because I really like the World Cup version.

OssMan 07-18-2010 03:15 PM

It's all about Winning Eleven 8

Mooияakeя™ 07-18-2010 03:18 PM

Yay PES. Glitch city. Select a man and watch him jump forwards, them backwards, so you've lost that yard you needed.

#BROKEN Hasney 07-18-2010 03:25 PM

Only online. If you have friends, PES/Winning Eleven is a much better game.

But yeah, World Cup is a dumbed down FIFA features and teams-wise, but they apparantly changed the gameplay (I can't tell the difference.)

OssMan 07-18-2010 03:28 PM

World Cup 98 on PC was top

#BROKEN Hasney 07-18-2010 03:31 PM

Goalkeepers could karate kick cameramen during goal celebrations. Fun times.

Yeah LOL :(

Funky Fly 07-18-2010 03:47 PM

I had it for N64. That was rare.

Haven't played this year's World Cup and the last FIFA I played was 09, but usually World Cup is mad dumbed down and hella glitchy.

Optimus Bone 69 07-18-2010 05:09 PM

World cup plays alot better than Fifa

alvarado52 07-18-2010 05:40 PM

fuckin' messican

Emperor Smeat 07-18-2010 11:29 PM

They use the World Cup games similar to past couple Euro games (04 & 08) as tests for the upcoming FIFA games in either specific areas (like goal keepers in Euro 08 being tough and scoring harder or World Cup 06 with the current game style FIFA uses).

Its not as obvious as NCAA football to Madden each year since NCAA is seen as a preview of what Madden might have for new changes or gameplay style.

Fignuts 07-18-2010 11:36 PM

Fifa 10 is pretty much the same game with like 500 more teams. World Cup 2010 should have been like 40 bucks at most.

World Cup is this year's fifa game, so there won't be a fifa 11, unless I'm mistaken.

XL 07-19-2010 12:13 AM

Nah, there will definately be a new FIFA. It's pretty much EA's license to print money.

Fignuts 07-19-2010 12:15 AM

It's usually out by now.

RoXer 07-19-2010 12:31 AM

There will be an 11 with lots of feature according to wiki.

How many of the world teams are in regular FIFA games?

Emperor Smeat 07-19-2010 12:43 AM

Including national teams its usually around 500+ since they've locked a good amount of leagues that are guaranteed to be in it each year while either adding or replacing other leagues based on liscense deals (ex. Irish and Australian as new leagues a few years ago but lost out on other teams in Rest of World group).

Nah, it is coming and it's usually Sep/October.

I don't think any full FIFA game has been released before Madden.

The Mackem 07-19-2010 06:51 AM

It comes out after the season starts otherwise it would be outdated ridiculously early. More than likely September/October.

Corporate CockSnogger 07-19-2010 11:17 AM

The Fifa games have been a lot better than the Pro Evo (Winning Eleven) games for the past 3 or 4 years. At least in mine, and every person I know who has played both games' opinions.

Ogen 07-19-2010 12:46 PM

Yeah was always a PES fan but they've stagnated while Fifa caught up and then zoomed ahead of them. They can't even manage to get the online play slightly up to scratch which is just mad but even in games at home against mates Fifa is where I go these days.

Although with PES 2011, apparently they've completely overhauled the entire game from passing, dribbling to just about every animation etc so I couldn't say for sure it'll be better again this year but I'd be suprised if it got worse. FIFA is a borderline arcade game mane.

XL 07-19-2010 06:24 PM

I thought that the roles reversed and FIFA became more sim whilst OES was considered to be more arcadey.

I only played PES10 briefly in an electronics shop, picked up the pad, won the ball, ran half the pitch and scored (although I don't know what setting it was on), seemed too easy.

Team Sheep 07-19-2010 07:20 PM

If you liked the World Cup game, definitely get Fifa 11 in October. Very similar but with almost every league around the world. Fully licensed too. The flagship football game.

Mooияakeя™ 07-19-2010 07:23 PM

Ain't PES11 meant to have individual fan sounds. I dunno, that just sounds new to me and something if done right could make an amazing game. But omfg. Mark Lawrenson needs to go. Fucking hate that cunt.

CSL 07-19-2010 08:27 PM

He's gone, it's Jim Beglin now. Dunno if I prefer that. Won't be realistic if his tongue isn't buried in the collective arse of Liverpool.

RoXer 07-31-2010 09:57 PM

Also, how many stadiums are in the game? Does each team have their own or are there just a handful of the popular stadiums and then 30 or so generic stadiums?

Emperor Smeat 08-01-2010 12:54 AM

A FIFA coming after a World Cup game usually will include at least the Cup Finals stadium in the next game but generally its usually most of the top tier teams in the main leagues have their own stadium and then any big name teams who had a Euro or World Cup game (ex. Portugal in Euro 04 and Germany in WC 06).

Usually England has the most stadiums from a league due to having the most clubs in a FIFA game and because the UK is one of the biggest markets for the game.

Its mostly generic stadiums to build up a stadium list since it would take too long in development and licensing to give every major club or national team in the world their own stadium.

RoXer 08-01-2010 01:46 AM

That's what I figured

RoXer 08-03-2010 04:01 PM

ONE LAST QUESTION then I'll leave everyone alone. Can you make substitutions from in game? Like by pressing back or something? I hate having to go through the pause menu, really disrupts the flow of the game.

Funky Fly 08-03-2010 04:15 PM

Dunno. You couldn't in 09. The problem is that the menus just keep getting more and more bloated each year.

Team Sheep 08-03-2010 04:17 PM

Nah you have to press start and go into team management to make subs.

Funky Fly 08-03-2010 04:19 PM

Called it.
