RVD vs. Jerry Lynn is likely off....

Credit: prowrestling.net
Barring a dramatic turn of events, the main event of Sunday's TNA Hardcore Justice pay-per-view featuring Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn will not take place as advertised. Multiple sources report that Lynn was forced to pull out of the show due to a back injury.

There were rumblings earlier this week that the match was in jeopardy because Lynn had to pull out of a scheduled indy match this weekend. It is believed that TNA officials found out about the cancellation within the last 24 hours. TNA has yet to announce the cancellation, so there's no word yet on what the new main event will be.

Any ideas as to what you'd like to see replace this if this news is indeed true?

VSG 08-07-2010 03:49 PM

Ya just read that myself after seeing it on the main page. This should be interesting, as they now have NO ONE from erstwhile ECW capable to take on RVD at that main event scenario.

Pretty much ensures I won't bother to find a stream.

itsmeJD 08-07-2010 03:52 PM

I know Sabu is beat the hell up and probably can't deliver a good singles match but throwing him into a 3-way dance would at least allow him to hit some spots to pop the crowd...Rhino could be the third as he had a history with RVD, but I feel like either way the expectations for the main event have officially dropped in terms of match quality.

VSG 08-07-2010 04:08 PM

No fucking way that Sandman faces RVD and I watch it on an illegal stream.

itsmeJD 08-07-2010 04:21 PM

Agreed VSG...I'd be more concerned with Sandman attempting to eat RVD than beat him.

Nark Order 08-07-2010 04:27 PM

I'd hit up Lance again.

itsmeJD 08-07-2010 04:29 PM

Ehhh something tells me as much shit as Lance has talked that he doesn't want the TNA stink on him....

Londoner 08-07-2010 04:31 PM

hahahahahahaha, TNA fucks up again.

Could be worse...they could give the spot to Hogan :-)

dronepool 08-07-2010 04:33 PM

Damnit. That could have been one of the best matches.

Xero 08-07-2010 04:34 PM

Well at least they never came out and said they'd officially be wrestling... On TNA TV, anyway. But let's face it, this show is for internet fans, so lol.

Lance who? Also, apparently whatever surprise TNA has is off too. JJ tweeted that the "Big Surprise" was never about wrestling in any way. Why did Dixie tweet about it then? Panda Energy got sold to random chinese company that Shane McMahon is currently the CEO of? :-\

Swiss Ultimate 08-07-2010 04:48 PM

RVD vs. Tommy Dreamer for TNA World Championship, after Tommy wins a hard-fought match, Justin Credible comes in and fucking jacks him up and wins the title from him.

The Pope 08-07-2010 04:50 PM

RVD vs Sandman vs Sabu

Mooияakeя™ 08-07-2010 04:51 PM

It's obviously gonna be Taz..... Meh, ok no.

Wolfpack423 08-07-2010 04:51 PM

Hardcore Justice wasn't going to be good anyway. Now there's no reason to watch it as that is the only match I would have been interested in. Raven and Dreamer will be alright but it won't be a goof match.

itsmeJD 08-07-2010 04:52 PM

I figure maybe RVD vs. Sabu vs. Rhino 3 way dance. Sandman will probably be too drunk by the main event....and while I know it can't happen RVD vs. Taz would be fucking epic.

Swiss Ultimate 08-07-2010 04:55 PM

If Taz wasn't crippled, hell yeah.

glanville6 08-07-2010 04:56 PM

Does this possibly mean the new main event is Raven vs Tommy Dreamer?

I'd just have Sabu replace Lynn

Alot of them are past their prime and some guys like Sandman could never wrestle (though he was entertaining and could have decent matches), but I really don't think he should main event at this stage. I'm hoping for RVD vs. Taz.

While this is true I enjoy trainwrecks so I have no problem watching as long as it's free.

Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but we were referring to Lance Storm. I suck at reading sarcasm sometimes so I figured I'd answer just in case.

The Pope 08-07-2010 05:01 PM

RVD vs Spike Dudley "the network executive" (the network)

itsmeJD 08-07-2010 05:03 PM

RVD vs. the epitome of ECW, former champion......Bobby Lashley lol :-)

 I'm sorry, but thats just what they deserve for trying to pull off this kind of event. Stupid move, stupid planning, and now only one advertised match on the card?

Whoever said it was right, this is a show for the internet fans...but if TNA is trying to expand their audience, thats not the people that they need to draw. Plus, this is a one off show...even if they did get short term buys, people probably won't stay around to watch much longer.

Not like they plan on showcasing their own talent...you know, so people popping in to just see some old ECW may say "Shit, that AJ Styles can really go, I wanna see more of him," or "Damn, I remember Kurt Angle, that guys the fucking man."

Spending all that money to promote a show that'll probably have no long term impact on the company...fantastic move. Heyman has come out many times and espoused that people SHOULDN'T rehash old wrestling angles, so I can't even see this drawing him in.

As for who faces RVD...Sabu I guess? They've got the most history, or close to it...

St. Jimmy 08-07-2010 05:11 PM

lol.

I totally agree, but it's TNA....what did you expect? They've never thought long term. They're like a 4 year old with ADD....as much as I'd like to see them succeed for sake of competition I have given up on the use of logic when it comes to their thinking.

Ya I was being sarcastic. He is not the guy you put in as a surprise and hope people like him.

He can end his quest to be #1!

ministrychick77 08-07-2010 06:51 PM

well since this *is* tna.. and we know that they don't make sense most of the time..

my guesses are rhyno or angle. i'd love to see taz, and while some of you are saying sabu, he's gonna need to save his energy for The Gathering coming up.

rob11 08-07-2010 07:51 PM

Bring in Sandman just for his entrance, then he can just walk away.

Jordan 08-08-2010 12:35 AM

I'd say their best bet would be to try Lance Storm again as was stated above, or go one on one RVD vs Sabu. I'd prefer that honestly.

This PPV could be horrible.

St. Jimmy 08-08-2010 12:39 AM

Just back a pick up truck full of money to Lance Storms house.

St. Jimmy 08-08-2010 12:41 AM

How quickly can Shane Douglas find those yellow tights?
