Heel Turns that didn't help the wrestler

or anyone else for that matter.

Lex Luger's heel turn was bland and pointless. I never thought I could care less about him and it never seemed to help anyone around him, not even Sting (who didn't need the help).

Post your picks here.

Savio 08-12-2010 01:41 PM

Billy Gunn turns on DX

Loose Cannon 08-12-2010 01:42 PM

which Luger heel turn? he's done several

The Pope 08-12-2010 01:45 PM

Santino

Sixx 08-12-2010 01:46 PM

Goldberg's heel turn. I hardly even remember it, so it must've sucked.

Ultra Mantis 08-12-2010 01:49 PM

Most recently I would say Shad Gaspard and Primo.

Lies, Santino was a random face who came out of the crowd to win the IC title. As a heel he became the funniest guy in the history of the WWE. If anything he has hurt his comedy by the fans loving it so much.

Remember when he feud with Stone Cold Steve Austins or the Honky Tonk Mans? By watching this movie we are all a condemned, and The greatest IC champion of all times!

The answer to this question is the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith. He joined Camp Cornette, but really never fit well as a huge bad guy. When he won the European title he got cheered. The fans wanted him to be a good guy, and it was too late when he came back in 1999 for a short lived face run before going back to heel.

The Pope 08-12-2010 01:53 PM

What the hell is that!?

BigDaddyCool 08-12-2010 01:56 PM

Most non-WWF(E) turns from booker Vince Russo are pointless. He never built enough interest in characters before the turn and frequently turned them back and forth to much for it to matter.

bigslimjj 08-12-2010 01:59 PM

Sting's first heel turn in WCW in 2000 when they had that title tournament and he beat up James J. Dillion. I think the turn lasted about 3 weeks until he was back to face again. Nash has also done it way too many times to count or care about.

RiX1024 08-12-2010 02:05 PM

Agreed with the Sting bit, same with Goldberg's turn in 2000, I thought HBK's heel turn in 2005 was naff because after his match with Hogan he was face again.

thedamndest 08-12-2010 02:23 PM

Matt Hardy when he feuded with Jeff. Should have been great but it wasn't and then it was abandoned.

RiX1024 08-12-2010 02:26 PM

he buggered off and came back as a face.

Gertner 08-12-2010 02:30 PM

You know a heel turn that I can't believe happened? It was more of a swerve. When Buff Bagwell returned from being nearly paralyzed by Rick Steiner in 1998 I believe.

Buff could have been a HUGE babyface because of this. WCW really dropped the ball on this.

The Goldberg heel turn in WCW was ridiculous.

Schlomey 08-12-2010 02:31 PM

I came here to mention Shad Gasspard. What a waste.

XCaliber 08-12-2010 02:33 PM

As of late Primo it did absolutetly nothing for him lol he's still stuck on Superstars for crying out loud.

Lock Jaw 08-12-2010 02:42 PM

Eugene's one week heel turn where he beat up Jim Duggan and yelled "I'M SPECIAL!"

Gertner 08-12-2010 02:51 PM

To be fair, Primo was turned heel with Carlito to feud with the Hart Dynasty. Carlito kinda fucked it up.

thedamndest 08-12-2010 03:10 PM

The Bellas turned on each other for a few weeks. Maybe over one liking Miz and one liking Primo or some combination from those teams.

1 went with The Colons, the other went with Miz/Morrison

DAMN iNATOR 08-12-2010 03:30 PM

Looks like Kane's about to turn heel without becoming any less bland and dull, as his promos have already been elevated to another level as a face.

Attitude99 08-12-2010 03:45 PM

Kane obviously. DX which means X-Pac, Road Dogg And Billy. Rikishi sucked as heel too.

Next Big Thing 08-12-2010 03:48 PM

Rikishi's in the long run. Especially after HHH revealed himself as the master planner.

Scott Hall in WCW

Gertner 08-12-2010 04:06 PM

But he did it for the Rock

Cuse8 08-12-2010 04:12 PM

that time ric flair turned heel..

KIRA 08-12-2010 05:14 PM

Shes not a wrestler but Linda McMahon's heel turn was just like every other time shes on screen a coma inducing waste of time

a sidenote: Rikishis heel turn is one of my friend and I's absolute fave bad heel turns it was made 100 times better/worse by his "why I did it" speech and his theme music

Domino 08-12-2010 05:17 PM

All these are good, except for the Bellas. I thought we were talking about wrestlers, thed. Haha.

It gave us this campaign commercial. I must say that it was well worth it.

Jordan 08-12-2010 05:43 PM

Goldberg's heel turn in WCW was a horrible, horrible decision.

On the flip side I desperately did not want Austin to turn heel and join with McMahon, but he did a great job that summer, and totally added new layers to the character. So I don't consider that a bad turn, I just really didn't want it to happen.

I think they had Angle as a face during that time, which I also didn't want to happen. But it was well played.

blak23 08-12-2010 05:58 PM

the rocks brief turn when he came back and called christian the new peoples champ

Lock Jaw 08-12-2010 06:08 PM

STAND BACK! THERE'S A HEEL TURN COMING THROUGH!!!

.... But then there really wasn't. (At least not for awhile still)

Loose Cannon 08-12-2010 06:08 PM

Austin turned heel, then turned babyface, then turned back to heel and then by the end of 2001, turned babyface again.

Loose Cannon 08-12-2010 06:09 PM

well his 1st babyface turn was kind of by default since he was with the WWF in the feud with WCW

McLegend 08-12-2010 06:19 PM

Austin heel turn at WM17 should be number 1 on this list.

Nicky Fives 08-12-2010 07:10 PM

Goldberg in WCW is the first to come to mind.....

Actually, the Sting heel turn in WCW occurred at Fall Brawl in September 1999.

He wasn't heel, they were just two babyfaces. Like John Cena vs Lashley.

The Montage explaining Sting's heel turn was laughably bad. I think they even tried to blame him for inventing the NWO, the Exon Valdez oil spill, and the creation of cancer.

Your right. The Mayhem tourney was a little while after that. I rember he beat up JJ the next night on Nitro. I had kind of checked out on WCW by that time really. Thanks for the correction.:y:

Yeah, and Austin turned heel at the end.
