Darren Young has impressed me sporadically during his short WWE run. At first, he seemed to be there just because he stood out visually. I really noticed him when he stood up to CM Punk on SmackDown!, though -- rejecting the Straight Edge Society. It was then that I thought he had the potential to be a pretty popular and credible babyface (even though he naturally seems to want to swing towards the heel side of things when left to his own devices).
He may not be brilliant in the ring, but I actually liked his match with Cena. If I were booking, I'd have Young show up in a few weeks and stop a Nexus beat-down on Cena. Not shaking Cena's hand or anything, but coming down with a steel chair and just smacking each of the Nexus members on the back. He and Cena don't need to like each other, but I think they could form an uneasy partnership to continue this thing against Nexus. Cena, Orton, Daniel Bryan & Darren Young vs. Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater (Skip is injured, apparently) at Hell in a Cell in some sort of War Games-like concept? I truthfully would not mind seeing that. |

He will earn his spot back into Nexus whether Barrett reconsiders or it was all go give the WWE roster a false sense of security cuz they knew damn right that he couldn't beat Cena common.

He will use Cena's old gimmick including "Basic Thuganomics". He shadows Cena the whole time and claims to want to be like Cena after realizing he can't be beaten.

I'm trying to avoid temptation for another obvious Bizzaro Cena reference. Okay, just one: Have him dress in the old Prototype-esque, jobber short tights Cena debuted with BEFORE his whole rap gimmick, only palette swap them to the opposite color. You know, like all the ninjas on Mortal Kombat.
Seriously, I see him wandering listlessly for a couple of weeks on SD!, losing a couple of matches. After 2-3 squash matches, he's pretty bummed out backstage, and who should saunter up to try and help him but SES again, and Punk tells him "You didn't listen to me in the first place and look where it got him?" Punk points out he lost NXT, he got exiled from the neXus, and he's a loser on Friday night. The only way he could ever be helped is if he just accepts straightedge into his life. We get a hair shaving and a new member of the SES, and Young gets a persona tweak... possibly becoming more ruthless than Gallows, or conversely, the reluctant face in the stable of heels. This could work. |
Cena will befriend Young for a couple weeks, then all of a sudden you won't see Young for a couple weeks. He'll pop up on Superstars every now and then, and then released he will be once you read that he was stopped for a DUI.
