Any Special Matches that Should be Brought Back at Wrestlemania 27?

Think of all the special match types that they have used at Wrestlemania over the years. Should any of them be brought back or would any of them work in today's WWE environment?

If you can think of some, please share and even name a match or two with the superstars that would best fit the match. Please exclude the MITB match as it is used every year.

Here are some of my favorite match types:

1. $15,000 Body Slam Challenge (Wrestlemania 1)
2. Tournament for WWE Title (Wrestlemania 4)
3. Career Ending Match - Both Careers on Line (Wrestlemania 7)
4. The Blindfold Match (Wrestlemania 7)
5. Hair vs. Hair (Wrestlemania 23)
6. Hell in a Cell/Steel Cage Match (Wrestlemania 15/Wrestlemania 2)

Note: I would love to see Santino vs. Big Show in a blindfold match.

Don't recall ever seeing that match on a Wrestlemania card.

Yes, it was. It was the main event of Wrestlemania 3. Everybody knows that :shifty:

She really slimmed down in later years.

Gimmick Battle Royal. Sheik defends his title.

Schlomey 08-31-2010 06:25 PM

so Judy Bagwell on a pole was a real thing?

Xero 08-31-2010 06:26 PM

lol it was.

Judy Bagwell on a forklift more like it.

Wrestlemania 2000 Triple Threat Match w/ two titles on the line. I would have the IC and United States Championship on the line. If somebody wins both falls then the titles are unified.

The Title Tournament, while a great idea in theory, is a terrible idea for Wrestlemania, since they wouldn't be advertising a main event for the biggest show of the year. It's a format better suited to a "lesser" PPV, like KOTR was. I agree with Lock Jaw though, bring back the Gimmick Battle Royale at Wrestlemania 30.

Since it's in Atlanta, and there's talk of hyping up the WCW roots, bring back the World War 3 60-man battle royal.

Anything with Steve Blackman and/or The Mountie.

John Cena vs Undertaker in a Casket Match, Cena breaks the streak, and 'taker is never seen again.

SOCCER LEGS 08-31-2010 07:14 PM

nothing but awful ideas in this thread

Have a "Pick your poison" match set for Wrestlemania. No one knows the opponents for 2 matches, and this will either work well or end up like the Championship scramble match.

BizarroKing 08-31-2010 07:31 PM

The Great American Turkey Hunt!

MoFo 08-31-2010 07:32 PM

A cage match, but in the old blue cage.

a new gimmick battle royal with shitty WCW wrestlers like The Maestro, Berlin, The Bootyman, The Demon, Mike Enos, The Harris brothers, Horace Hogan, The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea , Evan Korageous, Lenny Lane, Tokyo Magnum, Shockmaster, Dave Sullivan, Super Calo, and Van Hammer.

As all of this trash is taking a big dook in the ring, the four horseman theme plays.

JJ Dillon comes out on stage, and raises 4 fingers in the air. Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Wyndham, and Dean Malenko, armed with weapons, calmly walk to the ring. As each horseman enters from each side of the ring, the mass of failure in the center of the ring move to the center. Perfect fodder for a four horseman beatdown. After the ensuing massacre, JJ joins the other horsemen in the ring. He thanks the fans for the years of support, but realizes that there is someone else in the ring who is better on the stick. He passes the mic to Arn Anderson. Arn immediately says there is someone missing, and that someone is his best friend Ric Flair. He says they all love and respect Ric Flair and thank him. Arn also thanks the fans and admits that WCW did alot of things wrong. Before there was WCW, there was the NWA, he would then list some of the greats from the NWA who wrestled in the early WCW such as Harley Race, and Dusty Rhodes. A small plug for the Four Horsemen DVD, showing some highlights, and they leave the ring to a huge ovation.

As they are halfway up the ramp, the lights go out. We see a wavy green line on the TitanTron. We hear the famous line are you ready? Shawn Michaels and Triple H are at the top of the ramp. The Horsemen are ready for a fight and walk towards the stage. DX offer a handshake, which is accepted, and they all hug. The horseman theme plays again as they walk to the back.
