Cheap Heat

What are some of the common ways heels get fans to react? I've got

1) Kicking an old, broke, crippled, or alcoholic "hall of famer" in the balls

2) Calling the audience fat or ugly

3) Talking about a sports team or star

4) Calling a black wrestler "boy."

5) Flying a French, Canadian, or Russian flag

6) Being in a tag team with Shawn Waltman

Be the Usos.

I am actually a fan though.

Next Big Thing 09-05-2010 06:34 PM

Yeah, why don't people like them? It's like they never had a chance. Wrestling fans just like their Samoans as savages I guess.

They remember a bit about Harlem Heat, just not as natural at it though. So I wonder if that is what irks fans about them.

They adopted a ghetto gimmick that reminded the audience of the erst-while Cryme Tyme.

My stance on these particular two positions are as follows:

Whenever I've gone to a show (WWF/E) I always treated it as that, being a show. So yeah it is cheap heat, and in terms of talent on the microphone it doesn't help. But when heel X attacks the town, or fans, or a local sports hero, it is fun to boo them...

It gives the fan the sense of being more involved in the show than just a spectator.

manger interference. Attack on a women heel chick=cheap pop, face chick=Boo'd out of the building. Jericho has done both.

I can say that it really is a good heel tactic. And it is rather fun too. Cause back when WWE came down here for a house show Regal was the first to make a crack saying that he can't suck cause he's not from here. And everyone booed.

Then later on in the night Carlito lost to Christian and then he also said he doesn't suck either cause he's not from here and got the heat. But it's one of those fun times to boo.

I was at whatever the May PPV in Chicago in 2009 was...probably Judgement Day, and Miz came out to do a promo. Saw Alfonso Soriano, challenged him to a fight, then faked a phone call from Lou Piniella, and said "oh hey everyone, that was Lou Piniella. He said he wants Soriano to get his yearly injury on the field." Now I am a Cubs fan, but I popped huge. A lot of the crowd booed, but of course in Chicago we got the White Sox, so their fans cheered. Fun times with cheap heat

...Talk about how perfect u are, how much money u have, etc.

Rammsteinmad 09-06-2010 04:10 AM

Spit in the face of people who don't want to be cool.

Kane Knight 09-06-2010 08:33 AM

Insulting, praising the town your in is cheap, but my problem is more that they do it so formulaic and shoehorned. Any idiot can do it, and a lot of idiots do it regularly. Yawn.

It's one thing to say you're better than me, it's another to actually make it seem it.

Volare 09-06-2010 10:12 AM

I'm better than you KK!

No...no not really.

Gertner 09-06-2010 02:46 PM

Vickie Guerrero's wheelchair or neckbrace. They were probably the top two heels between 2008-2009.

Rammsteinmad 09-06-2010 03:08 PM

Yeah, heels in wheelchairs = instant heat.

Volare 09-06-2010 03:17 PM

It worked for Vince in 98. Especially after he screwed Austin at Survivor Series, jumped out of his wheelchair and ran to his limo.

What? Are you kidding? Sucking is the trademark of an epic heel! That's not cheap heat!
