should intent to go over the top rope become a rule for all battle royals?

Jerry Lawler (a wrestling legend) said it should. If a wrestler intentionally goes over the top rope in a battle royal, he is not eliminated. I think it's a good rule. That way Drew Carey can't eliminate himself when Kane comes out to destroy him.

What do you think? Should wrestling adopt the Khali Rule?

screech 09-07-2010 12:29 PM

No. Over the top rope means over the top rope, whether you do it intentionally or not.

Next Big Thing 09-07-2010 12:30 PM

Is this thread really happening right now?

TNA&USA#1 09-07-2010 12:31 PM

That's true, screech, but that's a very simplified view of the rule. Are we not evolved enough to look at a wrestler's intent in his actions?

screech 09-07-2010 12:37 PM

If you go over the top rope and both feet hit the floor, you're eliminated. No need for this intentional/unintentional business. If they let that happen, the match would never end.

Ermaximus 09-07-2010 12:39 PM

Yes because Drew Carey was by far the odds on favorite to win the Royal Rumble that year.

What's next: If someone gets himself intentionally disqualified, he isn't really disqualified?

I was going to say something more along the lines of if someone submits first, they win.

screech 09-07-2010 12:46 PM

lol

screech 09-07-2010 12:47 PM

Is it going to be like the "Advantage" gameshark code for WM2000 where you walk out of the ring and you automatically win?

No, because the intentional dq is when you're about to lose.

So Edge was about to lose when he shoved lil Naitch on RAW last week at the beginning of the match?

Gerard 09-07-2010 12:55 PM

Theyve flip flopped on that "rule" a few times (unsuprisingly). One time Ahmed Johnson jumped over the top rope in a royal rumble to chase someone and the commentators banged on about how he had to be thrown out by someone. Then Savio Vega in another royal rumble done that corner kick thing he used to do and ended up going over the tope rope to the floor and he was eliminated.

So the rule of thumb would appear to be there is no rule and it changes routinely. :?:

Furious Beardsley 09-07-2010 01:08 PM

Over the top should apply always. Whether the intention is there or not to go over. There is no reason you cannot roll out of the ring, you roll out, sit on the edge of the apron, and stand up. If you go over you should be eliminated, plain and simple.

Gerard got me good.

Haze 09-07-2010 01:24 PM

Last night was clearly a botched finish.

The Pope 09-07-2010 01:30 PM

Did Orton go off in a bitch-fit?

Haze 09-07-2010 01:32 PM

Orton had nothing to do with the situation.

Not sure where he is coming into play here.

Savio 09-07-2010 01:37 PM

The Khali/Edge restart was the biggest waste of time.

The MAC 09-07-2010 01:48 PM

dumbest thread ever.

Lock Jaw 09-07-2010 01:51 PM

Michael Cole was pretty hilarious during the whole segment.

*Khali steps over the top and to the floor*
Cole: Uuuuummmmmmmmm.... Am I the only one who saw that?

Lock Jaw 09-07-2010 01:51 PM

Can't believe I just wrote that post. Feel kinda dirty. Gonna go take a shower.

Savio 09-07-2010 01:55 PM

Well, considering you're the one who made them restart the whole damned thing mister mystery gm, you can only blame yourself.

Lock Jaw 09-07-2010 03:46 PM

Just wanted to have more of Edge on my screen, because he was being pretty hilarious with his FrankenKhali.

Sent out the e-mail before I realized that it would mean more Khali as well. One of those times when you wish you could take an e-mail back.
