Definitely a play on nostalgia, but both of them are noticeably old even to those who don't really know or care about a wrestler's age....and yes those people do exist. I'll watch it simply because I never did see the last one.

Don't know what Dr. Perfect was on about then. WWE lost .2 points (I think, may have been .4). WWE ALWAYS loses on Labor Day. It usually sends them into the 2s.
