First horror movie(s) that you ever saw?
With Halloween approaching, I thought it would be good to talk about some of the first horror movies that you ever saw.
Child's Play - When your're six/seven years old, for some strange reason, there was nobody who would put the fear of God into you more than Chucky. I know people in their mid to late 20's who still find Chucky to be creepy despite eventually becoming a horror/comedy franchise. Scream - The cool movie to talk about in the fifth/sixth grade. A well made flick with a creepy suit and probably the most realistic killer of the bunch. A good parody of slasher flicks. I'm looking foward to Scream 4 next year. Halloween - One of the originals. I didn't see The Exorcist and Texas Chain Saw Massacre until a little later on (those came in the eighth grade) but this film to this day holds up well and has a few shocking moments. |
The first ones I remember seeing was Shockers & one of the Jason films.
It - Was like 6 or 7 and this movie terrified the shit out of me. Hated clowns, balloons, and spiders for years afterwards. For my birthday that year my asshole uncle bought me this circus alarm clock, which he snuck into my room, and set for like 2 in the morning. I woke up scared shitless screaming for my mommy.
IT, or The Exorcist
Night of the Living Dead I think. I have watched so many though I can't be sure.
Scream 1
Pet Cemetary...i was like 8 or 9...was afraid to walk anywhere near my bed thinking my ankle would get slashed
Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors
A friend showed it at his house and a bunch of us got together to watch it. I think it might've been one of the first times I really saw a pair of tits in a movie as well. I got hooked after that and started bugging my parents to let me rent from the "HORROR" section at the movie store. |
Child's Play fo sho. Didn't even know that's the original title until now, cause it was translated to "Chucky Doll" here.
Got scared as a kid by Earnest Scared Stupid and thus didn't get into horror movies ever.
Think the first ones I saw were ones I had to watch in university. Poltergeist or Carrie. Don't remember which came first. Could be Night of the Living Dead as well. |
Pretty sure it was Child's Play
Does Gremlins count? The last act when the Gremlins take over the town scared the hell out of me.
Children of the Corn I think.
IT: i was around 5 or 6 and my dad was watching it. it was at the scene where the kid's picture falls on the floor and it winks and starts oozing blood or some shit when my dad told me to go away before i got scared
also, killer klowns from outer space creeped me the fuck out back then too |
Halloween
Either one of the early Nightmare on Elm Street films or early Jason film.
Loved the Tales from the Crypt series even though half the time I was scared shitless watching them in a dark room in the middle of the night as a kid. |
Probably IT
Poltergeist I think when I was about 12 or something. Didn't sleep for a week.
I was pretty scared when I watched Ghostbusters for the first time, but I think I was only like three or four.
I'm gonna say Child's Play but I'm not really sure. I'm not a big horror fan and pretty much stayed away from them. |
I also remember being pretty scared by Critters.
Eww those devilish little fur balls use to give me hella creepy nightmares.
I'm not sure... I remember one of them being about this haunted lamp that caused illusions in this house. It's probably Amityville but I'm not sure which one. Another memory is the Blob. Random Nightmare On Elm Street also come into memory.
nightmare on elm street. can't recall which one it is off the top of my head, but it was the one with a scene involving a school bus being stranded on top of some tiny mountains or some shit. freaked me out. also saw one that to this day i don't know what it was, but i remember a chick being boiled alive in a gym shower, a dude having his tongue ripped out mid-makeout, and a broad shoving a tube of lipstick into her nipple. fucked me up big time.
Not sure what one was the first I ever saw, but I do know that Candyman was the first I watched all the way through, since dad took me to see it in the theaters. I didn't have the classic nightmares, but I never wanted to go into a plublic bathroom for a while.
Poltergeist, still creeps me out.
Nightmare on Elm Street 3 when I was 4
Poltergeist-Scared me so bad i hid behind the couch.
Does Tremors count also?
Night of the Living Dead...the most important horror film of all time.
