There is backstage heat on D’Angelo “The Pope” Dinero among some individuals in TNA Wrestling.

According to sources within WWE, one of the reasons he was let go from the company two years ago was because many felt he let his push on the ECW brand get to his head. He was known to refer to himself in third person as “The Black Pope” once he achieved notoriety and it rubbed some people the wrong way. He has been exhibiting similar behavior in TNA as of late according to sources, which has some of his colleagues complaining. He didn’t do himself any favors by veering off script and cutting a 15 minute promo at a recent live event. Producer D-Lo Brown scolded him afterwards, with a number of wrestlers rolling their eyes at Dinero after it was over.

“The Pope” has also developed a reputation for making himself look good at the expense of his opponents. We’ll keep you posted.

I can see it. He definitely comes off self absorbed and seems like a guy whose only in the business for himself. That being said, I still like his character for the most part and you can't deny his talent.

Never cared for him. His mic skills are sub-par and his wrestling is mediocre. He has little charisma and does nothing to make me want to watch him.

Bigger issue is how did TNA let him get away with a 15 minute promo without stopping it or doing anything unless the promo managed to actually be good to last that long.

They must not have been able to find the killswitch. As we all know, no one in the TNA locker room knows where anything in the impact arena actually is, even though they've been there for a while.

Honestly, the Pope is one of the best up and comers TNA has going for them. I don't agree with the primadonna attitude that he is rumored to have, but I also don't really care. HBK was a cocky asshole during his early years in the WWF but he's still one of the greatest of all time. Keep pushing Pope for the good of the company - the man is entertaining.

I do hope the guy can find it in him to tone it down a little, because the man is an amazing performer and should be at the top in TNA.

Does it change your mind knowing that "Black Pope" was a goth type gimmick? I think it could have worked ala the famous Black Madonna portrayals maybe? I don't really mind the Pope gimmick.

I think people exaggerate too much on their sites just so they won't get fired.

I actually would enjoy it if he took a darker turn with the Pope character ala CM Punk. Maybe drop the Pope is pimpin shit and try to "save" his wayward congregation or something like that. There's no denying his character and skill on the mic. He just needs to tone down the gimmick and attitude a little.

I thought only rich white kids are "goth".
