"I want my money back, but I still don't know how" The Unoffical Legendary Thread.

So, this movie was pretty much a disaster in the theaters. It made $191,875 in 177 theaters. That is roughly 1084 dollars per theater and that means that give or take 108 people saw this movie per theater if a ticket price was 10 bucks.

It's going to be a Wal-Mart exclusive in about six hours when Wal-Mart stores open up. Will John Cena make DVD magic once again? Or has the well dried up for the walking t-shirt and wrist band factory?

Was anybody here one of the roughly 19,000 people who paid to see this movie? Any comments on how bad it was? Or was it just that it was in a small theater sample its downfall?

Jeritron 09-21-2010 01:06 AM

Are you sure it's opened wide yet? That could just be preview screenings and it doesn't actually release until next week or something.

I don't know anything about it, and I don't feel like looking it up, so I'm just asking. I don't think 200,000 dollars in 177 theaters would be actual opening weekend numbers though.

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-21-2010 01:22 AM

It's not opening wide. Like I said it's coming out on DVD today.

Jeritron 09-21-2010 01:25 AM

When did WWE say it was coming out?

The fact that I watch Raw every week and still don't know just shows how much I tune it out

Lock Jaw 09-21-2010 01:29 AM

I am disappointed by this thread. I thought that you had took one for the team and saw the movie and came here to rip it apart or something.

Jeritron 09-21-2010 01:33 AM

Lol at how big of a flop this was

Savio 09-21-2010 02:19 AM

If it means anything I actually saw the Condemned in a movie theater.

I can beat that. I paid to see The Marine at the theatre.

And I enjoyed it. Beat that.

mitchables 09-21-2010 03:33 AM

it said limited engagement in select theaters so it's not sad I'm sure it was planned.

Evil Vito 09-21-2010 09:42 AM

<font color=goldenrod>The funny thing is, overall it didn't look like a horrible film. Problem is on Raw I've probably seen every important part of the movie like 86 times.</font>

Schlomey 09-21-2010 09:43 AM

i bet danny glover is pissed he got his hopes up for that oscar nod he was promised.

XL 09-21-2010 12:16 PM

I kinda like the premise. As in, it's NOT your usual WWE action man film. However, I won't watch it...like I haven't watched any of WWE Films output.

Haze 09-21-2010 12:25 PM

WWE Films can't be turning a profit. I just find it way too hard to believe that with all the production dollars they throw into these movies, that they can be seeing any significant returns.

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-21-2010 01:28 PM

The truth is that WWE films are turning a profit. Checking out these totals some of them made a decent amount of money. These movies also get free advertising on WWE programming so that cuts the advertising budget to practically nothing. The DVD market eats up these movies just like anything with a WWE name on it.

If they weren't making money the WWE would have stopped at See No Evil. See No Evil was a tremendous sucess in the DVD rental/sale market. These totals don't even consider rental totals I don't think.

See No Evil Stats from http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/2006/SNEVL.php

Production Budget: 8 million dollars.
World Wide Gross Theaters: 15 million.

Worldwide Gross $18,184,083

US DVD Sales: $8,283,859 Weekly Breakdown

Production; 20 Million Dollars.

The Marine:

Worldwide Gross $22,165,608
Home Market Performance
US DVD Sales: $26,786,370

Budget: 15 Million Dollars.

The Condemned:

Damage wasn't a WWE film. I actually enjoyed Damage though.

To all those saying they want there money back it was a John Cena movie you should have known what you were getting into.

Also the newest Steve Austin flick looks pretty good. Hunt to Kill here is the trailer I mean its action movie with Stone Cold going Bat Shit crazy on some bad guys in the woods.

Looks horrible.

Someone needs to green-light my Aliens meets Black Hawk Down script already...

Corndad 10-01-2010 01:12 PM

The Girlfriend and I actually rented it last night. It wasn't as bad as I thought but it wasn't like Oscar material or anything.

Cena will never be Jack Nicholson, knowing that going in, he was alright.

Patricia Clarkson and the kid who played Cena's brother were actually pretty good I think.

It was your typical Sports Drama movie, and it was actually a nice change instead of the usual football, baseball, or basketball movies.

Looks like a generic Rambo wannabe to me. Loved the part where SCSA is on his damn 4 wheeler though.

Diva crazy or scientology crazy?

Kris P Lettus 10-03-2010 07:07 PM

Diva crazy..

Mad needy and until I worked with her, I had never heard OF her..

thedamndest 10-03-2010 09:59 PM

Being an Academy Award nominee can do strange things to a person.

Kris P Lettus 10-03-2010 10:17 PM

Supporting role in the Green Mile does not give one a right to be a needy bitch on a tier 3 feature..
