Cena's billed weight.....

So after watching Raw this week, I noticed that Cena is being billed at 240 pounds. I find this very hard to believe. Edge is billed at 241 and Heath Slater at 231, thus there is absolutely no way Edge weighs more than Cena and Slater weighs only 9 pounds less....

Long story short, why is WWE lying about Cena's weight or am I grasping at straws?

Jura 09-23-2010 10:01 AM

Weight and height are not accurate. Cena is like 6'0" or something but he's pretty bulky. They said Jericho is about 220 but that seems accurate.

Hanso Amore 09-23-2010 10:17 AM

Cena is shorter than you would think. Edge is taller.

Shadrick 09-23-2010 10:19 AM

Yeah, what Hanso said. Cena's about 6 feet, maybe 6'1, and Edge is taller.

Razzamajazz 09-23-2010 10:22 AM

cena's actually 5'4

it's all smoke and mirrors and the power of cgi in television

The Pope 09-23-2010 11:10 AM

Yeah, Edge is like 6'4

JimmyMess 09-23-2010 11:25 AM

Well if I recall correctly, yes they bill Cena at 240, but he always seems to refer to himself at 250.... As for Edge I'd believe him at 240 because yeah he is really tall, and that can be deceptive for how much someone weighs.

At the same time, Steve Austin was billed at 252 and he's what 6'1 or 6'2"?

The Pope 09-23-2010 11:34 AM

Yeah, but Stone Cold was a big guy.... and John Cena used to be 248 lbs. at least according to video games.

XL 09-23-2010 11:35 AM

We all know billed weights are bull. You need look no further than the Hardy's (whose billed weights haven't moved) to know that.

Yup, and Hornswoggle is actually like 6ft 5, they just use camera angles. Cena's probably in the mid 250s, WWE just bills guys how they want to like XL said. David Otunga is billed as 240, but Skippy was billed at 270 even thought there about the same size

MoFo 09-23-2010 12:09 PM

Crash Holly was once billed at 400lbs

Innovator 09-23-2010 12:12 PM

Batista was supposedly 6'3, he's maybe 6'0 even.

The Pope 09-23-2010 12:20 PM

Batista was like 6'4. He was only a few inches from JBL who's 6'6

Cena has to weigh more than Austin. The guys muscle mass is insane.

The Pope 09-23-2010 01:00 PM

Well the saying goes "muscle weighs more than fat" so that is interesting.

The Pope 09-23-2010 01:01 PM

Also, The Rock was billed at 275 lbs. I think he was maybe around 250lbs - 260lbs.

So you're saying Cena's height is just...

Testicle 09-23-2010 03:20 PM

This is the way its always been, heights and weights are changed to portray an image that the company wants.

Sports are no different, lineman's weights are raised in highschool to intimidate opponents, and are lessened in the pros to hide their obessity.

Cena is probably a legit 6'0 245lbs.

I never understood that "muscle weighs more than fat" theory. It's like saying a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat.

Think about filling a shoe box with muscle and then filling the same size shoe box with fat.

The muscle box will weigh more. Though physically speaking both are holding the same amount of matter, one of them is more densely compressed and thus weighs more.

JimmyMess 09-23-2010 06:34 PM

Yeah Stone Cold was a big guy, so is Cena.... I'd put him around 250 lbs... some of his mass is just freakish, like the arms.

As for Rocky yeah before he had titty surgery cause of the roids I'd believe him at 275... he was massive in the corporation, him and his sideburns... thats 15 lbs right there.

Joe Kerr 09-23-2010 06:55 PM

Maybe Cena took a big shit before weigh in.

according to this George Washington was 6'20 and weighed a fucking ton

Yeah towards the end of the wrestling career, and doing all the movies he started to slim down. So the whole being 260 at the end seems believable for Rock.

Dorkchop 09-23-2010 11:28 PM

Christian is 6'1 and was billed as being 5'10 for a while (probably because WWE doesn't want to push him).

I think I remember 123 Kid and and super young Jeff Hardy being billed around 220lbs, which is absolutely ridiculous.

DaVe 09-24-2010 06:02 AM

lol there's no way Batista is 6 foot even. At one stage he was billed at 6'7'', then 6'6'', and most recently 6'5''. Show a bit of respect. He's 6'3'' using the good ol' 2-inch add-on rule.

And to get back to the original question, it's partly due to the outdatedness of billed weights, and height differences (makes a huge difference). Edge was prolly legit 230-240 half a decade ago, but he's so normal now I doubt he's even more than 210, only kept high by his 6'4'' frame.

As others have said, what is keeping Cena back is him being only a shade taller than 6 feet and perhaps an outdated billed weight. I'm fairly certain Austin, a legit 6'1' - 6'2'', was legit around 250. I think he actually weighs 245 now, according to JR.

To clarify, the official ring announcing had him "weighing in at allegedly well over 400 lbs."

And his cousin, Baldcore Holly was "500+ lbs." , also "allegedly".

I guess technically your both correct (the best kind of correct). I guess what I was trying to say is when people are overweight and start exercising, and they hit "that wall". They'll try ad say muscle weighs more than fat. If your working out to lose weight, your not gonna put on 10 lbs of muscle while you still have plenty of fat to burn (thats what I've learned)

Wasnt JR bad for that kind of thing, someone would be announced at a certain weight and he'd make reference to them being heavier during the match for no reason?
