Shows that got cancelled without a real ending
My name is Earl
One of my favorite shows. You find out that crabmans kid isnt crab mans. You wait for the next season only to see it cancelled and Jason Lee doing Memphis beat :( Married... with Children. They cancelled that show after the cast had filmed the season 11 finale. I remember a couple cast members speaking out about that when it happened. The show had run its course, but it never got the finale that it deserved. Gary & Mike The final episode of Gary & Mike ends with the titular duo driving off an unfinished overpass with a ton of cops chasing them. They hold hands Thelma & Louise style and the screen freeze frames with them in midair and the words "To Be Continued" appear on the screen. Undergrads This show had an okay final episode, but they totally set up the story to continue "next semester". Andy Richter Controls the Universe. Taxi they brought most the cast on SNL to do a skit since they didnt get a last show. Night Court Night Court had a last show but they played it out of order. Bull went to live with aliens, Dan followed Christine to Washington and harry got a ton of offers including a chance to tour with Mel Torme, but he refused and stayed at the court. Full House didnt get a last show, but showed the cast call when they realized it was a series not season finale. But the show was just a clip show, instead of having something big happen. The Wonder Years had to do last minute reshots after learning they had been cancled which included a voice over with future Kevin telling the fate of all the characters. Sliders Ended on a cliffhanger Lois and Clark "The New Adventures of Superman Where the hell did that baby come from? Angel We get Armagedon...then nothing NewsRadio Kinda hard to continue i guess when the cast is dying The Jeffersons They got cancelled during off season and I remember the cast was upset they wouldn't give them an opportunity to do a series finale. Odyssey 5 Talk about cliffhangers: of the five main character one was kidnapped and another was arrested and being accused of killing her. Stupid Showtime: this was one of the highest rated original shows on the network. The 4400 They should do what they did with Farscape and continue the story in comics. It is kinda weird that all of the agency characters developed abilities instead of dropping dead. Lone Gunman Though they did sorta get a last episode if you count their last appearance on the X-Files where they all died Quantum Leap The last episode was supposed to be a season finale, but once it was cancelled, they *tweaked* it to try and make it serve as a series finale. They ended it without Sam returning home because they had hoped they could get it picked up by another network, but they couldn't find any takers. King of the Hill had been on the chopping block for years and they STILL couldn't give it a decent finale. |
I'll give the obvious - Firefly
In reality, the show wasn't given a real CHANCE, let alone a real ending. The network aired episodes out of order, and didn't even show the last couple episodes of the season. Was written out completely for 7 seasons if I recall correctly. I suppose the movie could suffice as an ending, but the show itself didn't have a real ending. |
Didnt they make a movie to wrap it up?
Serenity |
Knight Rider :(
Knight Rider 2000 doesn't count :foc: |
HEROES

Law & Order :(

Pirates of Dark Water (i think)

I actually thought King of the Hill had a finale and it pretty much wrapped the show up.
|
I was pissed My Name Is Earl got cancelled.
I thought it was doing good. |
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Pissed me off when it was canned. |

Wonder Years' ending scene was the perfect ending for that show

Actually I like the finally to king of the hill. It brought a tear to my eye King of the Hill I watched from episode 1 to the last. I really liked the show when all the other shows on Fox started following the Family Guy formula. King of the Hill remained itself and I think that is one of the reasons it got canned was because they refused to turn it into a screwball comedy like Family Guy and Seth MacFarlane is dominating Fox with all the Family guy Spin offs.
The Cleveland show is not good at all. |
Angel had an amazing ending, the fuck you talking about.
|
Clerks:The Animated Series
|
John Doe and Surface come to mind.

I'll add Pushing Daisies to the list. It kind of got a tacked on ending that felt really forced, and many plotlines were never resolved. |

On its debut. |
I'll personally add True Calling to the list, Fox renewed it for a second season, then cancelled it during the shooting of the 6th episode, they gave them time to finish filming it though but it still sucks to know that her father is working the Jason Priestly as the villian.

Freaks and Geeks could have/should have kept going.

Yeah, I'm not such a big fan of the Angel ending either. A lot of people do think it is "brilliant" though.

ReBoot ended on a cliffhanger.

Stargate and Stargate: Atlantis didn't have real endings either. Both were just left with an open ending. |

I've heard for years about a reboot of ReBoot in movie form, but so far I don't think anything has happened. Anything they do wouldn't be the same without Megabyte though. |
I can't believe nobody has seconded my Freaks and Geeks post.
