WWE DVD Appreciation Thread

I was watching Jericho's excellent DVD and it made me think about a few things. Since WWE released the first excellent Ric Flair DVD in 2003 - they have released some great DVDs. This thread is here to talk about them.

My favorites:

The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection

The Rise and Fall of ECW

Hardknock - The Chris Benoit Story - We all know what happened with Chris but this was an excellent DVD. The only matches that I wish they would've put on this collection was the triple threat match with DDP/Raven/Benoit and Stone Cold/Benoit.

The Monday Night Wars - I love the MNW and loved seeing both aspects of the companies.

Pick Your Poison (Jake Roberts DVD)

Bret Hart: The Best There Is, Was, and Ever Will Be

Tombstone (Undertaker's DVD)

Hell In A Cell - HIAC is one of my favorite gimmick matches.

Breaking The Code (Jericho's DVD)

What are your favorite WWE dvds?

Cuse8 09-30-2010 07:40 PM

loose cannon-brian pillman

the self destruction of the ultimate warrior

Beth Phoenix Fan 09-30-2010 07:46 PM

Bret Hart: The Best There Is, Was, and Ever Will Be
Shawn Michaels: Heartbreak and triumph
The Rock: The most electrifying man in sports entertainment

those are just my top 3

Razzamajazz 09-30-2010 07:46 PM

i've only bought 3 wwe dvds in my life, and jericho's will be the 4th as i pick it up this weekend

but the rise and fall of ecw/wcw and hart and soul have been pretty good

Cad Bane 09-30-2010 07:57 PM

I was disappointed with the WCW dvd. There could have been so much more on that DVD. It just disappointed me. The match listing - however - was it's stronge point.

BizarroKing 09-30-2010 08:04 PM

Best Of Raw and the Rise and Fall of WCW

BollywoodSingh 09-30-2010 08:19 PM

The only wrestling DVD I've bought was the Bret Hart one.

Which DVD has the best documentary? I'm more interested in the documentary portion of these DVDs than the actual matches.

Destro 2.0 10-01-2010 01:27 AM

Greatest Superstars of the 90's
The History of the Intercontinental Championship
The History of the WWE heavyweight Championship
The History of the World Heavyweight Championship
The Rise and Fall of ECW (It definitely has the best Documentary out of all the DVDS)
The Triumph and Tragedy or World Class Championship Wrestling
The Legacy of AWA
The Rise and Fall of WCW
ECW; Bloodsport
ECW: Extreme Rules
Tombstone: The History of the Undertaker
The Undertakers Deadliest Matches
The Hell in a Cell dvd set
The Road Warriors dvd set
The Disturbing mind of Kane
Triple H: The Game
The Chris Beniot dvd

These are all the ones I really like and I forgot to put WWF Hardcore it was made whent he title was at its popularity and it has Shane McMahon vs Steve Blackman at Summerslam which is fucking AWESOME!

I will list more later.

Probably Rise and Fall of ECW followed by Monday Night Wars.

HBK's documentary is probably the best one out of all the wrestling dvd's I have

Triple Naitch 10-01-2010 09:36 AM

I have 7 DVD collections. Just picked up Jericho's this week but haven't watched it yet.

I've got:
Chris Jericho: Breaking the Code
Hell in a Cell
The Ladder Match
Rey Mysterio's DVD (one of my favorites with all of the old school WCW cruiserweight matches)
Satan's Prison
HBK: My Journey
Best of Starrcade

Loose Cannon 10-01-2010 10:36 AM

yea, agreed, although I haven't purchased a DVD in a while because I've been trying to get the old WCW/NWA VHS's, I think they do a tremendous job on thier DVD's. Really want to get about 10 recent one's

My top 6 in order

History of Horsemen
ECW
Pillman
AWA
World Class
Bret Hart

But pretty much like all of them. I have most of the "Bio" DVD's since they started doing them minus for lot from end of 09-10

Loose Cannon 10-01-2010 10:39 AM

Oh I don't like the one's for a particular wrestler that just have matches. Like The Underaker one. I didn't purchase that. I need the documentary.

Xero 10-01-2010 11:08 AM

Still need to get the Jericho DVD.

Some of my favorites:

Rise and Fall of ECW
Pillman
Piper
Monday Night Wars
McMahon
Benoit
Horsemen
Bret

The Pope 10-01-2010 11:11 AM

I wish there was a Scott Hall/Razor Ramon DVD set.

Xero 10-01-2010 11:13 AM

The only thing I don't like about the DVDs is when they go in and out of Kayfabe. It doesn't always ruin it, and sometimes it's kind of funny in a "lol come on, you're ridiculous" way, but I wish they'd choose a direction and stick to it sometimes.

To be fair, the Undertaker DVD is a documentary. Just about the character, and the characters evolution, rather than the person himself. It's pretty enjoyable.

I loved Cheating Death, Stealing Life - The Eddie Guererro Story. Sad but fitting that he wrote a book and had a documentary DVD come out right before he died.

Just got the Jericho one, looking forward to sitting down with that tonight.

Lord-Of-Darkness 10-01-2010 12:02 PM

Oh and my point to LC was going to be that I also just get the ones with the documentaries. As much as I love the matches, I'd rather have them as an extra on some other discs, than the main feature.

can't stand this. fucking Arn Anderson does this all the time. like bro, it's 2010, join the rest of us.

he even does it on his RF shoot video.

Jeritron 10-08-2010 01:17 AM

Just finished just about everything on the Chris Jericho dvd set.

So good. I was pretty blown away by his first ever match (with Lance Storm)
Pretty absurd how good it was for being the first match of both of their careers.

I forgot how good that WCW title match with The Rock was.
I was also suprised by how good of a match he had with Hogan in 02. Never saw that.

There were a few matches I wish made the cut. No clue why his Last Man Standing match with HHH from Fully Loaded 2000 wasn't on there.
His cage match with Edge from 2002 definitely should have gotten on there over their Wrestlemania 26 match.

And of course it sucks that any matches with or against Benoit can't be included, because that was a big part of his career. The tag match against Austin/HHH would have been a great addition.

Lord-Of-Darkness 10-08-2010 06:03 AM

It'll be interesting how the whole Benoit thing plays out when Orton gets a DVD. He won his first World title from Benoit, and it was a pretty big deal. It'd be a huge shame to leave it out.

Eklipse 10-08-2010 06:15 PM

My favorites are
HHH King of Kings
Undertakers Deadliest Matches
Breaking the Code
Heartbreak & Triumph
RAW The Beginning
Greatest Stars of the 90's

everyone should check out amazon.com
get some good quality used dvds at 'rock bottom' prices!

Not to mention that the match was awesome.

Jeritron 10-08-2010 06:22 PM

It won't be on the dvd. They will talk about how he won his first world title, but they won't show it.
They will show a match with HHH.

Schlomey 10-08-2010 09:02 PM

Does not take away from the fact that it was one of the most well done biographies the WWE has ever done.....AND it is a story that needed to be told to shed some light on his personality.

I wasn't implying that it was bad. I actually almost picked it up, but put it back in favor of something else.

Aguakate 10-09-2010 02:06 PM

Has anybody here seen the Macho Man Randy Savage DVD? Was it any good? Did it only have matches, or were there people talking about him?

It was only matches and promos.

Aguakate 10-09-2010 02:20 PM

Shucks. Randy deserves so much more.

Schlomey 10-09-2010 02:55 PM

Then he shouldn't have boinked the boss' daughter.
