Do you suppose downloaded game purchases will be transferred over to next gen consoles?
 

With so much stuff in downloadable form on XBLA and PSN, you have to think that this would be an option. But it would also probably cut into their profit margins pretty deep.

I know the next gen is pretty far off, but how do you see currently downloaded games being handled? Will they allow it? Charge for a mass transfer? Just say fuck it and claim incompatibility?

3DS is allowing a transfer of all purchased DSi stuff.

Not sure what Sony and XBox will dp forthe downloadable stuff. Unless they use the same archtechture or have proper BC in the next console, I can't see it happening.

Will be gay if they don't. Don't see a reason for 360 not to do it with their XBLA titles at least since their systems are glorified PCs.

I often wonder this as well. I don't buy a ton of DLC games, but whenever I do I want to have it for good.

I'd guess 4-5 years.

I hope not. Older games, sure. But new games? Unless they're like 40 bucks and the new systems have at least 20 TB.

All 3 consoles are actually based on PowerPC. They have more in common with a Mac before they switched to Intel processors.
