Anyone else remember these matches? I thought they were a good idea at the time.

I remember Bart Gunn winning the tournament then getting dominated by Butterbean. Ooohhh....the memories...
Would anyone else agree that they should do it again...or is ufc enough?

No. Never do it again. Anything that's a 100% shoot on a worked show is a bad idea.

That thought did cross my mind...but it could give some talent a chance to show off other abilities.

Horrible idea.

Vince needs to stay away from any real fighting as it is. UFC would eat anything he could put out alive. Pro Wrestling fans also don't watch pro-wrestling for real fighting.

Yeah, that doesn't take you out of the moment at all.

You guys re right...I just thought it could bring some excitement and unpredictability to the show.

Plus, one would think there would be some sort of licensing issue he'd have to go through, technically.

I dont hate the idea, but Cornette is right nobody there was trained to fight. Dr. Death was nearly 40, Ken Shamrock said hell no, Dan Severn quit because he said it was stupid, and Marc Mero "golden glove boxer" lost horribily in the first round. It just wont translate well into the PG era

Actually...I was probably a mark at the time. lol. maybe thats why it seemed good to me. I dunno.

I don't see Vince giving it the go-ahead - at least in a legit shoot format.

After all, the original Brawl For All was supposed to put Dr Death over as a legit tough guy. Of course, he ended up defeated and Bart Gunn won. Vince was pissed and instead of capilatizing on the success of Gunn he pretty much buried him for "wrecking his plans".

Short story: shoot fights have no place in a worked business.
