And Rock should probably be #1. My top 3 would be:

Would probably have Foley bumped up to the top five, too.

My Top 3 would be:

Barrett should be on there before Santino. He's made quite the impact in the short time he's been there. However, neither Santino or Barrett should be on the list anyhow. Bret Hart wasn't exactly known for his promos but he should be on before Santino or Sheamus.

Where the fuck is Taker? His Ministry promos and his promos as the American Bad Ass were great.

Taker jobbed to Santino in this list.

Bret's promos weren't bad, and his work during the "Canadian Hero" storyline in '97 was awesome.

What about Honky Tonk and Jerry Lawler? Jesus, this list is awful.

And Savage not being #1 is ridiculous.

Every time you do a "Top" whatever list, it sparks debate, but this is jost ridiculous.

Bret got a bad reputation because his promos weren't flashy and boisterous like alot of the guys at that time, but his promos were entertaining on a different level. He made you identify with him and every word that came out of his mouth seemed so honest.

I can understand the top ten. It's actually not a terrible list, even if it's slightly off. But then it goes to shit because a lot of those guys should either be higher or not on it, and that just opens up a whole new can of worms.

John Cena is not Top 10 ANYTHING. Not talker, not wrestler. Not even a Top 10 person.

Rock was great but very catchphrase heavy/one dimensional/formulaic. Austin, Piper, Savage, Roberts could just talk and didn't sound like they were reciting a script.

It's debatable. They had to put him relatively high. He's the biggest thing they have going now. I wouldn't have him on MY top 25, but since this is a WWE.com one I completely understand him having a high spot.

Just be glad he wasn't top three or something.

I completely agree here, but Rock also had something that lured you in. He may not have been the BEST talker, but I think his off the charts charisma really pulls him up. Maybe putting him number one is pushing it a bit, but I have no problem with him being in a top 3 best talkers.

They can't find room for HBK, Bret or 'Taker, but they can find a spot for Santino Marella.

How do you justify Randy Savage as #22?

By having the 21 wrestlers above him be better on the mic.

Personally IMO, Randy Savage should be no less than #1. Anything under #5 though is ridiculous.

Yes. I grew up watching Randy Savage, he was always one of my favorites back during Wrestlemania VII I was almost on the verge of tears as an 8 year old when he "lost his career."

I'm very familiar with him. But he was always held up by his in ring talent and not his ability to talk. Saying he should be number 1 or top 5 is crazy. He's not in the same league as Piper, Jericho, Rock, Flair or Foley on the mic. Not even close.

Jake Roberts should be in the top 5 of any list concerning mic work. Then again, it is all subjective.

I'm really curious why you think he's so good on the mic. Don't just dismiss me like that lets have a conversation, I really want to hear what his merits are as a talker above any of the 21 guys IO have ranked above him.

What's your take on Jake Roberts? This guy built his entire career on mic work. Curious as to why he didn't crack your top ten.

Because the 11 above him are better on the mic. That doesn't mean Jake wasn't excellent on the mic I just think those above him were better.

For example Vince McMahon who is right above him on my list I think was better because Vince was able to pull off varying types of promos. Vince was able to act like the cocky guy, the agressive guy, the coward, the goof ball, the sympathetic character. Vince had various degrees of promos he could pull off. Jake always has the same type of promo, the quietly intense promo that make you believe he was serious. He was the very best at that type of promo though and he was so eloquent which is why I had him ranked so highly, but I think Vince McMahon's versatility puts him above Jake Roberts.

I've got a test to take online. When I get back I'll have the convo with you. He's really one of the best overall wrestlers of all time. He was one of the best ever in the ring and one of the best ever on the mic as well.
