Brother Gimmicks that worked

What are all the brother gimmicks out there over the years and which worked?

Obviously Kane, brother of the Undertaker worked out pretty well.

The Dudleys worked out.

Matt Hardy, brother of Jeff never really panned out.

Owen Hart was pretty successful as the Black Hart.

What else?

CSL 10-19-2010 09:49 PM

Not sure what you mean since you've listed some real brothers and some kayfabe brothers.

If you're talking strictly 'made up' brothers, Edge and Christian.

Stickman 10-19-2010 09:52 PM

Weren't Edge and Christian cousins?

Droford 10-19-2010 09:53 PM

Harlem Heat
Steiner Brothers

JimmyMess 10-19-2010 09:54 PM

They were billed as brothers

No, I believe they just grew up together in Orangeville, ON.

Brother Love

Hanso Amore 10-19-2010 11:12 PM

Ronnie garvin was billed as Jimmy garvins brother

In fact, Rugged Ron, The Hands of Stone, was "Gorgeous" Jimmys Stepfather!

Hanso Amore 10-19-2010 11:13 PM

The Harris Brothers had a respectable career, sans NAZI tattoos

Stickman 10-19-2010 11:21 PM

Real or make believe brothers are fine. I just wonder how often brothers or "brothers" work out. A lot of times brothers are always thrown in a tag team and that's pretty much it. Rarely do they split and work it seems.

How can that be the case, when the first example was 'Taker and Kane?

I never understood that... how are they still "brothers" even after Vince made a huge stink about "people will never believe..." and repackaged Ryder/Hawkins when they looked close enough to pass as the Major Bros. Also, same with E&C, who have been demoted to "like brothers" as opposed to being full-fledged kayfabe brother.

Another "brother" gimmick that worked out was Hulk Hogan.

Tom Guycott 10-19-2010 11:30 PM

Also, Smoking Gunns... although after that whole Brawl 4 All/Bart Gunn fiasco, and Billy making it big with Road Dogg, I guess they were better left forgotten.

Speaking of Road Dogg, his brother "ripping off" the gimmick in WCW as Buzzkill. I always thought of it as a reverse Gillberg move.

Yes, they were brothers, then cousins, now they are "lifelong friends"

I always saw Brad Armstrong as WCW's Steve Lombardi. Brooklyn Brawler, Kim Chee, face Doink, Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz = Badstreet, Arachnaman, B.A, Buzzkill

Lock Jaw 10-20-2010 04:10 PM

Don't think E&C were ever billed as cousins.

The Gold Standard 10-20-2010 05:05 PM

Taker and Kane

Yeah I said it. I don't care.

Lock Jaw 10-20-2010 05:19 PM

What is wrong with saying it? It DID work.

Everyone seems to be saying real brothers not kayfabe

The Gold Standard 10-20-2010 06:18 PM

Either way, how did it take 19 posts to mention Taker and Kane. They are in the middle of a big feud for the belt

Lock Jaw 10-20-2010 06:23 PM

They were mentioned in the very first post.

JimmyMess 10-20-2010 07:59 PM

Were the Bushwackers billed as brothers? Because they seem to only be referred to as Luke & Butch

Juan 10-20-2010 08:03 PM

They were cousins

In this case you can take the Dudleys off the list

Maybe this (\/) will clear it up for you then:
<iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2epkeYzlqsA" frameborder="0"></iframe>

(Basically, the pic is a play on that promo, if you didn't get that from the vid.)

Von Erich's, Guerrero's and Windham's.

Ruien 10-21-2010 05:40 PM

All brother gimmicks seemed to have worked that have not happened in the past couple years.

The Beverly Brothers were not real brothers. They were the Destruction Crew in the AWA and the masked Minnesota Wrecking Crew II in the NWA/WCW.
